O Christmas Tree Securely anchor your Christmas tree so it doesn't tip and fall, causing possi-ble injury to your pet. This will also prevent the tree water—which may contain fertilizers that can cause stom-ach upset—from spilling. Stagnant tree water is a breeding ground for bacteria and your pet could end up with nausea or diarrhea should he imbibe.

SAiNtS FuN FaCTs St. Nicholas (270-343) Feast Day: December 6 Patron of Children, Sailors, Fish-ermen, and the Falsely Accused St. Nicholas was a historic 4-th cen-tury saint and Greek Bishop. He was very religious from an early age, and according to legend, Nicholas was said to have rigorously observed the canonical fasts of Wednesdays and Fridays (even as an infant). Because of the many miracles attributed to his intercession, he is also known as Nikolaos the Wonder-worker. He had a reputation of secret gift-giving, such as putting coins in shoes of those who left them out for him, and thus became the model for Santa Claus. His relics are still preserved in the church of San Nicola in Bari (Southern Italy); up to the present day an oily substance, known as Manna di S. Nicola, which is highly valued for its medicinal powers, is said to flow from them. The his-torical St. Nicholas is remembered and revered among Catholic and Orthodox Christians.
