2012 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal There are so many ways God is made visible in the world around us. Our Church of Newark, which serves Hudson, Essex, Union and Bergen counties, sees God in the hun-dreds of thousands of people it takes care of every year by teaching, sheltering and caring for all who come to it for help. We can only offer assistance because of your generosity to the 2012 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. Won’t you please take a moment to fill out a pledge card? This sacrifice on your part will show that you too see the face of God in every-one who seeks help. Pencils and AAA envelopes are lo-cated in the church pews and in the back of the church. Thank you.

4th Sunday of Lent “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son…” ~John 3:16 Of all the wonderful gifts that God has given to us, the gift of His own Son is truly the greatest. How can we ever thank God for a gift like that? God does not ask us to sacrifice our own precious firstborn, but He does ask that we be generous in mak-ing some sacrifices for Him.

March Highlights

SAINTS FuN FaCtS St. Joseph Feast Day: March 19 Patron of the Universal Church, carpenters, house hunters, fathers, social justice, unborn children, expectant mothers, against doubt and hesita-tion...and many others. Saint Joseph is a figure in the Gos-pels, the husband of the Virgin Mary and the earthly father of Jesus Christ (in distinction to God the Father, his "heavenly father"). Joseph was a car-penter, a humble, compassionate man, loving husband and a father. Without question, he heeded God in his dreams to save his family. He respected God and fol-lowed his commands. Joseph was foster father to Jesus. There are many children separated from families who need foster parents. Please consider contacting your lo-cal Catholic Charities or Division of Family Services about becoming a foster parent.

Saint Joseph was a just man, a tireless worker, the upright guardian of those entrusted to his care. May he always guard, protect and enlighten families.

~Pope John Paul II

Parish Food Pantry Our Food Pantry is serving many families and individuals

this winter. For many, the Pantry is a vital resource in their daily challenge to make ends meet. Our goal

is to assist families in meeting their basic food needs. The OLMC Food Pantry could not exist without the sup-port of our parish community. We are always in need of non-perishable foods and donations. Please leave your donations in one of the vestibules facing the parking lot.

St. Lucy Sodality Reminder... The next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at Joann Brown’s home. Please bring wrapped Easter candy. If you have questions please call Joann at (973) 667-2633.
