FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Perhaps it’s best to begin with good news, especially for Buckeye fans: one of the items in the silent
auction at this year’s Parish Festival will be a genuine Buckeye football signed by Jim Tressel. True, that isn’t a game ball signed by Ernie Banks or a football once carried by Walter Peyton; but what fan wouldn’t want to add it to his/her collection of memorabilia? “Now for something completely different:” Believe it or not, the airducts for our church run underground. Over the course of decades, their joints have leaked, and water accumulates in them. You may have noticed this past winter that the stained-glass windows were always weeping. Sister Barbara certainly noticed that drops of water fell intermittently from the skylight. We now know why: as the air that eventually circulated through the church passed through the underground airducts, it picked up water vapor. The maintenance staff and outside experts are exploring ways of addressing this situation. Alas, the solution won’t be cheap; but afterwards, we’ll all breathe more easily and feel less muggy in the summer.Within the next few weeks, Parish Council will be reaching out to all parishioners with an invitation to complete a survey about our facilities. For those with computers, the easiest way to do this will be through Survey Monkey; but council will provide paper copies of the survey, too.Blessings,Monsignor John Johnson

Remembering those who have died for our freedom is a custom that Americans recognize and is most worthy of continuing. Memorial Day is an education for people of all ages – especially young men and women.
This day is set aside to honor the members of the armed forces who never made it to veteran status because they were killed fighting for our country in wars, police actions, peace-keeping missions or against terrorists.
We remember them, we honor them, and we pray for them. We pray also for their families, friends and loved ones.
