Dear Parents, Students and Community Members,

This morning sixty dads and grandads enjoyed a Fathers’ Day breakfast

prepared by our hard working P&F volunteers. It was a really enjoyable

morning of community and appreciation of the important role fathers

have in their families and in our school. A feature of all that we do at

OLC is the way that the children are all included This year we had

something like eighty five children present. As always, the behaviour

and engagement of the children in a largely unstructured time was

exceptional.

A special thanks to Nadia Murphy, Ben Huxtable and Anna

Sidebotham who were the leaders and coordinators of a big team of

volunteers.

valued as an individual and nurtured spiritually, by many hearts working

together as one voice to fulfil their overall potential.

Many Hearts, One Voice

1 September 2017

When I reflect on the fantastic Mother’s Day earlier in the year alongside today, I can’t help but

be impressed and appreciative of the strong community that is present at all levels in our school.

Family Camp at Donnelly River

Whilst speaking of community building, everyone should have received an information sheet and

registration form for the Family Camp, happening on the weekend of 13 – 15th October. There is

a box for registrations at receptions, so act promptly as the available accommodation will fill

quickly.

Faction Sports

Please refer to the messages in recent newsletters and the separate specific communications sent

out regarding the sports carnival.

It has been an incredibly busy time as we prepare for the production at the same time as the

sports carnival. I would like to acknowledge the significant extra work load for the staff involved

in preparing these wonderful opportunities for the children.

P&F Meeting

With everyone in our community so busy and involved in helping for the production, Fathers’ Day

and school sports, we have decided, in conjunction with the P&F Executive, that the P&F meeting

scheduled for next Tuesday 5th will be postponed until further notice.

Little Mermaid

Make sure you secure your tickets for one of the performances next week

and round up your friends. It’s a big call, but I doubt you will have the

opportunity to witness a production of this quality in a primary school in

many locations in the state, so don’t miss the opportunity. Good luck and

best wishes to everyone involved.

Kind Regards and God Bless,

Des Wilkie

CATHOLIC COMMUNITY CORNER YEAR 2M CLASS MASS

On Wednesday Mrs. Murphy’s class walked to church to join in the weekly

parish mass. The class was particularly interested in seeing the signs and

symbols involved in the Liturgy of the Eucharist, which is the second half of

the mass after the Liturgy of the Word. It was lovely to read the following

comments from Fr. Ian in the parish Bulletin:

“On Wednesday we had the great joy of having our little Year 2’s at Mass.

They were a delight and showed an attentiveness well beyond their years.

We welcome Fr. Ian back from holidays and look forward to another class

joining him for the mid-week parish mass soon.

YEAR 4 FIRST EUCHARIST

The Year 4 class has begun preparations for the Sacrament of Eucharist, or First Holy Communion.

The word 'communion' means to be united with; Catholics believe that in Holy Communion we are

united in a special way with Jesus Christ.

At his last supper, Jesus said of the bread that he shared among his followers, "Take and eat, this is

my body." When we receive Holy Communion, Catholics believe that in a mysterious way we are

sharing in the body and blood of Christ.

Please keep the Year 4 students in your prayers as they begin this next stage in their faith journey.

DID YOU KNOW?

Our school motto is “Many Hearts, One Voice”. Our motto reflects the diversity

and individuality of the many gifted and unique people that are part of our

school community. The heart is a major organ of the body and is essential for

life. The heart is also a universal symbol for love. Our motto identifies the need to respect

God Bless,

Amie Meyer, OLC RE Coordinator

Library News: Book Week

This year's Book Week Dress Up Day has been postponed to Week

5 of Term 4 due to the current busy schedule and building works. The theme this year is "Escape to

Everywhere". The school holidays can be a great time to be creative and get organised with a

costume on the theme before the busyness of the end of year begins. Have fun planning!Mrs.

Meyer & Mrs Kemp

Just a reminder that the Dental Mobile therapy centre is now located in Vasse and will be

focusing on Vasse patients during this time. Capel and Dunsborough patients with trauma or

severe pain can call 0417 269 232 for advice. Routine care should be from your family dentist

until the van returns to the school in the future.

Dear Parents, as you know we are participating in the Woolworths Earn and Learn

program. Through this program we will be able to get new educational resources

for our school – and all we need you to do is shop for your groceries at Woolworths.

Sticker sheets can be dropped into the collection box here at school, which is

located outside the front office, if you do not have a sticker sheet that is fine just

pop the stickers straight into the box. Thank you for your support
