When you sign up, please indicate which Mass you normally attend on the weekends. You will be notified in advance about which Mass you will be presented the chalice. Please sign up in the vestibule of church or call Chris Friemel at 681-8228. Prayer for Vocations Loving Father, you speak in the hearts of all your sons and daughters. Help us to know your voice and to respond generously. Make us faithful witnesses to your love in the world. Raise up for us young men and women willing to place their lives in the service of your Church. Bless those who today are following that call. Give them a desire to serve you and your people. Help families so that openness and generosity will first be learned in the home. Through the intercession of Mary, whose “yes” brought your Son into the world, give us the courage to respond always according to your will. Amen. Last week we listed the first of ten ways you can serve the children in foster care; the third is VOLUNTEER. We are all not called to foster or adopt, but we are all called to care! There are many ways to serve. You can help with your church by becoming a church rep, serve on a local C.A.L.L. advisory committee, help with events or the C.A.L.L. Mall, provide transportation or help in the C.A.L.L. or DCFS offices. The fourth way is FINANCIAL. Any contribution you make to the C.A.L.L. will help and is tax deductible. Continuing with the misconceptions about foster care: #3. You must have been a parent before to be a foster parent. Wrong! No experience necessary! A heart for kids and a stable home is what children in foster care need. #4. People cannot work full time and be foster parents. Wrong! Day care may be provided for children in foster care through DCFS. Watch for more information in next week’s bulletin. THE C.A.L.L. (CHILDREN OF ARKANSAS LOVED FOR A LIFETIME)

Understanding My Value ToMy Church Community

Laura Humphries, Parish Life Coordinator

PrayerO God, Our Creator, from your provident hand we have receivedour right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given usthe right and the duty to worship you, the only trueGod, and your Son, Jesus Christ.Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of theworld, bringing the light and the saving truth of theGospel to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless usin our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.Give us the strength of mind and heart to readilydefend our freedoms when they are threatened;give us courage in making our voices heard onbehalf of the rights of your Church and thefreedom of conscience of all people of faith.

Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,a clear and united voice to all your sons anddaughters gathered in your Churchin this decisive hour in the history of our nation,so that, with every trial withstoodand every danger overcome—for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us—this great land will always be “one nation, underGod, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”We ask this through Christ our Lord.Amen.

REMEMBERING OUR SAINTSThis week Holy Souls Parish will honor St. Thomas Morewith a temporary shrine. His stained glass window is lo-cated on the south side of the church.

St. Thomas MoreFEAST DAY: June 22

PATRON SAINT: Lawyers & Religious Freedom

Heavenly wisdom vs. Human wisdom; heavenly wisdomoriginates from God, so it is pure, peaceable, merciful, and expressed in good deeds; leading to the perfecthappiness God desires for us. Human wisdom on theother hand is limited and intertwined with our tendencyto sinful self-centered behaviors. All of us are subjectto the temptations of this world, none of us are immune.

It is easier not to participate; it is easier to gossip andjudge others or to complain about parish ministriesthan to be involved and when we do this we harm ourChristian community, our parish. Yet every person inour parish who freely gives their time to a ministry, who regularly prays for others, who helps others inneed, who forgives, who comforts those in time of need, who gives to the offertory collection are responding toheavenly wisdom. We are building up the parishcommunity with these acts of generosity and goodnessand strengthening the faith life of our parish. To followChrist is hard work, requiring commitment, perseverance, and courage. To be a successfulChristian we have to follow Christ and no one said itwas easy..

“For this very reason, make every effort to supplementyour faith with virtue, virtue with knowledge, knowledgewith self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with devotion, devotion with mutualaffection, and mutual affection with love.”

2 Peter 1:5 -7
