THE GIFT OF GOD’S WORD. On this day of gifts and giftgiving, it seems appropriate that we take a moment to reflect on the great gift of God’s Word. Because it is creative, God’s Word always points to its author, always calls us to respond. Because it is powerful, God’s Word can link the sublime with the
ridiculous, the transcendent with the immanent, the divine with the human. Because it is graceful, God’s Word establishes a relationship of deep intimacy between us and God. At the heart of God’s Word lies a tantalizing tension between the mysterious and the mundane. In our liturgical celebration, this unresolved tension both reveals the meaning of life for us and calls us to respond, to act upon that meaning. Once accepted and opened, the gift of God’s Word is a gift that keeps on giving and keeps on calling us to give in return. It dares us to be like the giftgiver and to become gifts for others, not only at Christmas, but at every moment of life.
Today is the Nativity of the Lord (Christmas) Father Dennis, Deacon Greg, Deacon Malcolm, Deacon John and the Parish Staff would like to wish each and every one of our parishioners and their loved ones a …..

Flowers on the altar this weekend were provided by Jeff & Stacey Bryant in loving memory of Alfred Olivetti; by Brenda Peters in loving memory of her husband, Ronald Peter, and by the Parishioners in celebration of the Holy Season and the birth of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. The two bouquets under the Blessed Virgin Mary Statue and the St. Joseph Statue were donated by Father Andrew’s sisters and their families, Carol & Alex Morris and Mary & Bill Cutler, in loving memory of Rev. Andrew J. Vollkommer (Father Andrew).
Many thanks to all parishioners who ordered Christmas Poinsettias to adorn our altar during the Christmas Season this year. A list of memorials/honorees has been included as a Bulletin Insert this weekend.

Reflecting on God’s Word The Nativity of the Lord ~
Christmas It’s Christmas. And once again we choose to rejoice. Like the rejected
couple and the poor shepherds in the Gospel reading, like the besieged and frightened Israelites, we choose to sing Christmas carols and glorify God for the birth of the Savior, the light in our darkness. How can we rejoice in the face of all the trouble that surrounds us? And yet, how can we not rejoice when we remember all that God has done in Jesus? Jesus showed us the depth of God’s passionate zeal for us. God’s powerful passion for us brought the Lord of Hosts to share our trials as the poorest of the poor and to save us from our suffering by his suffering. We choose joyful hope because we believe that what God has done once, God is doing now and will do again. God is with us to save us here and now, no matter how troubled the world may be, in Jesus Christ. Confident in God’s passionate zeal for all creation, we join “heaven and nature” in rejoicing over the “wonders of his love.” ~ Virginia Stillwell
Living God’s Word We live in between the coming of the Messiah and the final fulfillment of salvation. What are we to do in this between-time? How can we embrace the past, present, and future of God’s passionate love for us? How can we both sing and bring joy to the world?
Living Stewardship Now. Choose a special gift from your whole family during the Christmas season and give it anonymously to a parish organization or a local charity.
