NEWS FROM THE NEST

Please continue to “clip and save” Box Tops and Community Coffee labels. This is an easy way to earn money for our PTCC. We are busy counting the Papa John’s receipts, box tops and Community labels and will announce our winning classes soon! Our OLL Christmas Service Project continues this week. Please have your child return the service form to have a “Caring Cardinal” placed on the Caring Cardinal Christmas tree display in the school cafeteria. Forms will be collected through December 14th. Please encourage your child to participate in this wonderful project. What a great way to begin your Christmas season by serving others and serving God. This project will help us all to remember the reason for the season. For information or to assist with this event, please contact Chairperson Liz Mansfield at [email protected]. Please see attached flyer. Thanks to our generous OLL families, the Christmas Adoption Program was a great success! We were able to provide gifts from a wish list for ten local families. Many thanks to our Chairperson Sarah Bergeron and all of the volunteers who collected, wrapped and delivered the gifts to the Covington Food Bank today. We are blessed to participate in this program year after year, and are grateful to everyone who participated.

ROSARY GROUP

All Our Lady of the Lake School parents and grandparents are invited to pray the rosary. The OLL School Rosary Group will typically meet the third Wednesday of the month at 7:45 a.m. in the church. Check the schedule below, as some months are irregular. The rosary is a powerful prayer that allows us to meditate on the life of Jesus and to get closer to Christ through his blessed mother, Mary. In the 1950s, Pope Pius XII said, “We put great confidence in the Holy Rosary for the healing of evils which afflict our times.” Those words ring true still today. Join us as we implore the help of Our Lady and pray this powerful prayer, The Rosary, each month.

OLL Christmas Service Project We are calling all OLL students to volunteer their 4me and service to their family, friends and community this holy Christmas season. Truly there is no be=er gi> to Jesus than the giving of ourselves in service to others.

We are se@ng up a beau4ful “Christmas Service Tree” for our children in the school cafeteria. Each grade will have a designated branch of the tree. For each child that par4cipates, a Christmas “caring cardinal” will be added to our service tree. Let’s fill each branch to show that at OLL we know the true spirit of giving.

O>en it is only necessary to look within our families and community to find special volunteer opportuni4es. Some may include:

! Helping an elderly family member/neighbor (grocery shopping, yard work, etc.) ! Visi4ng an ill family member or friend and offering assistance ! Collec4ng food items for the Covington Food Bank ! Dona4ng clothes to the Samaritan Center or other agencies ! Volunteering at local nursing homes ! Reading to a sibling

Please encourage your child to par4cipate in this very meaningful and wonderful service project. Students can turn in forms to their homeroom teacher from December 3rd – December 14th.

Special thanks from the OLL PTCC. If you have any ques4ons, please contact Liz Mansfield at [email protected].
