A Message from Father Matthew:
Jesus said in reply, “Ten were cleansed, were they not?
Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner
returned to give thanks to God?” Luke 17:17-18
Happy Thanksgiving! Though Thanksgiving Day is not
specifically a Catholic holy day, it certainly goes hand in hand
with our life of faith. Spiritually speaking, we all know that
gratitude is central to the Gospel message. Thanksgiving Day
presents us with the perfect opportunity to look at this particular
aspect of our faith. We are called to be eternally and deeply
grateful. How grateful to God are you?
Perhaps we all struggle in various ways with gratitude. It’s fair
to say that we will never be grateful enough until we are
perfected in Heaven. But, for now, it’s important to look at
gratitude and to try to let it increase in our souls.
First, we will never be grateful unless we see clearly all that God
has done for us. It’s so easy in life to focus in on all the struggles
we face and, as a result, to get down, depressed, frustrated and
even angry at times. What’s far more challenging is to look
beyond the crosses and burdens we face each day to see the
abundance of grace and mercy given to us by our Lord. Unless
we see that mercy and grace, we will struggle greatly with
authentic gratitude.
So on this Thanksgiving Day, reflect upon this simple question:
Do I see all God has done for me? Do I see His abundance of
mercy alive in my life? The Gospel passage above reveals that
Jesus healed ten lepers, but only one of the ten returned in
gratitude. Are you like one of the nine who failed in
gratitude? If so, you most likely struggle with seeing all the true
and abundant blessings from God. If you can humbly admit you
struggle with total gratitude, you will have taken the first step to
seeing more clearly and the first step to fostering the deeper
gratitude you ought to have. Being grateful means you see the
truth clearly. Be open to that truth and God will change your life
as He fills you with joy!
Lord, please do fill my heart with an abundance of
gratitude. Help me to turn my eyes to Your infinite grace and
mercy. Help me to see beyond the struggles of life and the
burdens that get me down. In place of these, help me to become
increasingly aware of all You have done for me and all that You
continue to do. Jesus, I trust in You.

At the end of the Rosary, callers will be unmuted for several

Father Matthew is asking for your input, please.
He would like to have Adoration at

to ensure it will benefit all.
We are asking about two time periods. We need to know if
people will come and also if we will have two parishioners
in attendance at all times while the
Blessed Sacrament is exposed.
The times being proposed are:
Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or
Saturday, 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Please let Father Matthew or Kim know of your
interest by email or phone call.
MASS CHANGES- In an
effort to keep all of our
community safe, after
Saturday, December 12th we
will no longer have the
5:30 p.m. Mass. This Mass
has had the least attendance
since our reopening and we
feel it will keep decreasing in the winter months due
to the cold and darkness. Please accept our apologies
for any inconvenience it may cause.
CHRISTMAS FLOWERS
We will have flowers on the altar this year,
however on a much smaller scale. We will not
be asking for specific dedications like we did
last year. This year we are asking for general
donations for flowers and a note from you
with any memorials you would like to have
honored. Kim will produce a list of memorials
and it will be in the Christmas weekend
bulletin. If you have any questions, you can
call or email Kim at the office. Thank you.
The new bulletin board is up in the Marian Hall. It will be
updated weekly. Please do not put anything on the board
without approval from the office. Also, please maintain
social distancing when viewing the board. Thank you!!
Early to Mass… Why???
When people are most attentive at Mass is when they
don’t come flying in at the last moment, or even late, to
Mass. It allows us to decompress from the busyness of
life and focus my attention on God. This is certainly
easier said than done and when you are responsible for
toddlers and other children in the household; getting to
Mass on time can often appear to be a Sunday miracle.
However, arriving at Mass on Sunday even five minutes
early is a practice worth attempting. We are so
accustomed in our busy lives to stack up our
commitments back-to-back-to-back, that we miss
opportunities to simply “be still” and recognize the
presence of God.
This is an important habit to develop as God has
revealed to us that He speaks most clearly in the
“stillness” and “silence” of our hearts. It is quite
difficult to listen to what God has to say to us if we are
constantly on the move and always looking down at our
cell phones.
Then again, maybe we don’t want to hear what God has
to say to us? Maybe we are running away from Him and
don’t want to hear his words of love and mercy, urging
us on to live a life of virtue, shaking off the many
attachments we have to things of this world? It can be
difficult sometimes to hear words of rebuke from
those we love and arriving early to Mass to listen to
God’s small voice may be one of those moments that we
avoid, fearing that God will enter into our lives and try
to get us to change.
However, we shouldn’t be afraid. As God spoke to the
prophet Jeremiah, “For I know the plans I have for you,
says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give
you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and
come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek
me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart, I
will be found by you, says the Lord.” (Jeremiah 29:11-
14)
If you are not able to physically get to Mass early
because of circumstances beyond your control, then the
next best thing to do is turn off the radio in the car.
We need to allow our soul time to disconnect from the
distractions of the world and that is why it is essential
to reduce the noise that we experience as we travel to
Mass. Most of us have to drive at least 15-30 minutes
to reach our local parish and that time of silence in the
car will benefit our soul more than we can imagine.

Let Your Voice Be Heard – Again
“Say No to ROE”
The state legislature has extended the session until January 5 , 2021. Please remind the members of the Joint Committee on Judiciary that you oppose the expansion of abortion in Massachusetts.
Please call the Committee at 617-722-2396 and let them know you are opposed to H3320 and S1209 – the ROE legislation. Every telephone call helps! Remember these bills would remove: ● The requirement that young girls obtain consent before an abortion ● The requirement that efforts be made to save a living baby who survives abortion ● The requirement that late term abortions be performed in hospitals And the bills would allow abortion on demand for all
nine months of pregnancy.
For more information about how the ROE legislation would expand abortion in Massachusetts visit www.macatholic.org. THANK YOU!
