This new covenant, foreseen from afar by Jeremiah and the prophets, was not to be engraved on stone, or written on paper, but carved on our hearts, so that we might know God intimately. Not by keeping many laws are we to be saved, but by the love of God, living and real in our hearts through the sacrifice of Christ. Our Eucharist is the pledge of that indwelling of Christ, and of our response of praise and thanksgiv- ing to God for the mercy, love and kindness shown to us in forgiving our sins and cleansing our hearts of everything evil. SALVADOS POR EL AMOR DE DIOS Después de que los israelitas quebrantaron la anti-gua alianza, Dios prometió una nueva alianza, no con la san-gre de bueyes y otros animales sino con la sangre del Hijo, Jesucristo. Esta nueva alianza, que Jeremías y los profetas habían anticipado, no sería grabada en piedra ni escrita en papel, sino que se escribiría en el corazón, para que pudiéra-mos conocer a Dios íntimamente. La salvación no está en obedecer muchos preceptos, sino en el amor de Dios, que está vivo y es real en nuestro corazón gracias al sacrificio de Cristo. Nuestra Eucaristía es la promesa del Cristo que vive dentro nuestro y de nuestra respuesta de alabanza y agrade-cimiento a Dios por su misericordia, amor y bondad al per-donar nuestros pecados y limpiarnos el corazón de todo mal. Dios extiende esta invitación a la intimidad al ofrecernos la oportunidad de que nuestro sufrimiento se transforme en el amor perfecto del Salvador, que siempre nos amó. Copyright © J. S. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE En Latinoamérica, como en muchas partes del mundo, hay una horrible e impresionante pobreza. Enfrentado con la miseria humana, el cristiano puede responder con resignación “Yo no soy nadie, ¿qué puedo hacer yo? Nada.” o puede responder con obras de caridad ayu-dando uno por uno a los pobres y necesitados. Esta virtud, es el pilar más importante de la conversión. Porque en ella imitamos a Jesucris-to que vino no a condenar al mundo sino a salvarlo. Sin la caridad nuestros ayunos son dietas y nuestras oraciones son palabras necias. La caridad es una virtud cristiana, porque Dios es el mejor ejem-plo de lo que es la caridad. La caridad no es limosna, es amor y justi-cia, es salud y salvación; es cumplir con el mandamiento de amarnos los unos a los otros en un mundo donde la mayoría son pobres y desamparados. La caridad es dar al necesitado algo que uno aun nece-site, es obrar por cambios sociales que promuevan la dignidad humana y el bienes-tar económico de todos.
