From the Pastor:

The time is near. Don’t let the material aspects of Christmas stress you. Instead, reflect on St. Joseph, so faithful and full of trust in God, through the words of St. Bernard:

You were a good and faithful servant, Joseph, to whom Mary, the Mother of the Savior was espoused; a faithful and prudent servant whom our Lord chose for the comfort of his Mother and the nurse of his childhood, as well as the only and most trustworthy cooperator in his great plan of salvation.

You were of the house of David and truly the son of David… Like another David, you were a man according to God’s own heart, to whom he entrusted His most precious secret; to whom, as to David, He made mani-fest the uncertain and hidden things of His wisdom, and to whom he revealed a mystery hidden from the great ones of the world. To you it was given to behold Him whom many kinds and prophets had desired to see and had not seen, to hear and had not heard. And not only were you allowed to behold Him and listen to His words, but you were able to bear Him in your arms, guide His steps, embrace and caress Him, feed and protect Him.”

With love and prayers, Fr. Francis

Christmas Giving to

our Parish

This year’s calendar brings

the unusual situation where Christ-

mas Day falls on a Sunday. Your weekly generosity, for

which we thank God daily, enables us to meet our obli-

gations and address regular parish needs.

Our special, annual Christmas Collec-

tion, however, fills a very important additional role.

Just as is the case with your own home, the Christmas

Collection provides the resources needed to support

major maintenance projects in our parish home, Our La-

dy of the Sacred Heart, as well as allowing us to have a

reserve of funds available for unexpected and often

costly emergencies.

Please use BOTH envelopes that are found in your packet

and be as generous as you can.

God Bless You !

Children’s Corner:Today’s Gospel

Don't you just love all of the beautiful decorations during the Christmas season? We see colorful ribbons and bows, bells, candles, stars and a lots and lots of angels. Why do you think we see so many angels at Christmas time? Probably the first thing we think of when we see angel decorations at Christmas is that the angels appeared to announce the birth

of Jesus to the shepherds. But an angel is important to the Christmas story even before Jesus was born. Can you remember the first time Mary or Joseph saw an angel? That's right! An angel appeared to Mary and told her she was going to have a baby boy.

Today’s Gospel tells us about another visit from an angel. This visit was to Joseph. As you know, Joseph and Mary were engaged to be married. An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream.

"Don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife," the angel said. "The child that is inside her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. She will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save the people from their sins."

When the angel of the Lord had spoken and made God's plan clear, Joseph was obedient. He didn’t have to understand how everything was going to happen. He didn’t need to worry about what anyone else would think. Joseph trusted God and obeyed Him.

Sometimes you and I may find ourselves in a situation where we don't know what to do. Like Joseph, we might ask ourselves, "What do I do now?" If we listen, God will tell us what to do. He probably won't speak to us through an angel, but he will speak to us through His Holy Word! It is up to us to listen and obey.

Matthew 1:18-25 "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
