Dear Parishioners, This Friday, April 12th, we are hosting our Annual Fish Fry. This is always a great Lenten event here at Our Lady of the Woods. That same evening we will be praying the Stations of the Cross at 7:00 PM as we have been doing throughout Lent. Come join us for the

meal and then prayer or pray the Stations and then dine in the gym. The Fish Fry reminds us that Holy Week is fast upon us. One of the best ways to prepare to celebrate the most important feast of the Church is to make a good confession. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered on Saturday, April 13th at 9:00 AM and on Holy Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. We also will be celebrating the sacrament on Monday evening of Holy Week at 7:00 PM. This year we will have a Lenten Reconciliation Service followed by individual confessions. This puts us in line with the other parishes in the area. This form of the sacrament is encouraged by the Church as it reminds us that we are all sinners. This IS NOT GENERAL ABSOLUTION. After a short time of scripture, prayer, and an examination of conscience, the individual priests will be available. One can go face to face or behind the screen. We will have two confessors who speak Polish as well. Lent is often called a season of Reconciliation. I would suggest that it also calls us to reflect on the graces that we receive from God, most especially, the gift of new life in Christ. I mention all of this because our parish is filled with unsung heroes. As we prepare for the Fish Fry, I want to publically acknowledge our wonderful staff. Each member of the staff assists in projects that are far beyond his or her job description. Members of the staff coordinate the Fish Fry, the Parish Italian Dinner, the Trivia Night and so many other activities. They do a great deal behind the scenes and are aided by many volunteers. We should all be grateful. I certainly am. Finally, I want to acknowledge Deacon Matt Federico, who has been with us on many of the weekends over the past two years. This is Matt’s last weekend with Our Lady of the Woods. On May 31st he will be ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Saginaw in Michigan. Please keep Matt and his classmates in your prayers as they begin their priestly service to the church. In Christ,
