My Dear Parishioners, We are now officially at 300 Captain Thomas Blvd. and I have heard there is still some question as to the name of the parish. We are still Our Lady of Victory Par-ish; we’re just at a new location. To further clarify, St. John Vian-ney Parish ceased to exist on June 29, 2017 and on that date it was assumed into Our Lady of Victory Parish. All correspondence should be addressed to Our Lady of Victory Parish and all donations by check should be made out to Our Lady of Victory Parish. Now that we are in our new home, there is still much work to be done to get things organized. Please be patient as we get accustomed to our new surroundings and un-pack from the move. On Saturday, June 13, we had a great crew of volunteers assist in bringing our old electronics to the electronics collection held by the city (see photos, pg. 7). Rob Vets, as-sisted by his son Robbie, brought a truck and trailer. Bob Guthrie and his son James came with their truck, as did Art Nugent as well as Patty and Dick Boyne. Bill Armour was on
hand to help carry items out to the trucks. Having so many volunteers really helped to make the task go by quickly. After all the electronics were dropped off, the Vets and Guthries came back and load-ed the memorial bricks onto
their trucks and brought them to the parish hall at Captain Thomas Blvd. They will be in-stalled for a new memorial that
will be directly behind the memorial and statue of St. John Vianney. The new memori-al will have, at the head, the statue of Our La-dy of Victory, which was next to the sign on Jones Hill Rd. Also, the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is being relocated to the brick courtyard next to the parish hall. Confessions are being heard in the church “cry room” on Mondays from 5:30-6:30 PM. The church is being cleaned on June 25 and weekday Mass will begin on Monday, June 29 at 7:30 AM. There has been no an-nouncement, as of yet, from Archbishop Blair as to when Sunday Mass will resume. Keep watching our webpage, and that of the Arch-diocese, for more announcements. I hope that everyone has a great week and you are all keeping well.
Moving, Piece by Piece A letter from Fr. Dillon
Read Ahead and Listen to This Week’s Readings: June 21, 2020 “...This Word of God proclaimed in the liturgy possesses a special sacramental power to bring about in us what it proclaims. ... How, then, do we respond to this wonderful gift of God's Word? We respond in word and song, in posture and gesture, in silent meditation and, most important of all, by listening attentively to that Word as it is proclaimed.” -- General Instruction of the Roman Missal, United States Catholic Confer-ence of Bishops.
First Reading — The LORD has rescued the poor from the clutches of the wicked (Jeremiah 20:10-13). Second Reading — The grace of God overflows for all (Romans 5:12-15). Gospel — All who acknowledge Jesus before others will likewise be acknowl-edged by Jesus before the Father (Matthew 10:26-33).

Our Parish Monthly Devotion for June:
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Pray this throughout the month. O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore You, I love You, and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer You this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to Your will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in You and for You. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions. Give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Your blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Amen.

Peace Must Prevail By Deacon Frank Bevvino
Recent events have unleashed a lot of anger in our country. When one is confronted with the violence that has highlighted dis-crimination against a segment of the popula-tion, one has every right to cry foul and to speak out in protest. There is little that one can do when we see injustice except to speak out loudly and let those in authority know that things need to changed. Whether that injustice is perpetrated on issues of race, religion, gender or any other issue, there should be no tolerance for violence or discriminatory behavior. Emotions run high when these issues are unmasked. Violence from any segment of society, for any reason, is wrong and must be rejected and protested vehemently. These are not issues of political party affiliation or any of the “isms” touted by the news media. Issues of violence are issues that need to be addressed by all people whatever their affiliations. “What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8).The Gos-pels are filled with examples of Jesus and His disciples looking beyond the prejudices of their time and reaching out and caring for the needs of others. St. Paul is explicit in his com-ments on sin. We are all capable of sin. There is no distinction to be made by anyone that they are not sinners while others are (Rom. 3:9). Jesus acknowledges openly that He came for the sinner. (Lk 5:32). The people that choose to commit acts of violence are also capable of choosing to commit acts of kindness and caring. Even while acts of violence against Blacks continue, there are extraordinary acts of kindness being performed regardless of color, religion, ethnic background or political affiliation. We are all capable of kindness to others.
Oftentimes, evil and violence grow out of personal frustration and fear. We need to suppress these feelings and acknowledge that our own frustrations and fears can be overcome by acts of kindness. Acts of kindness are shown in vivid detail in areas throughout the world during this ongo-ing pandemic. Medical professionals, first re-sponders, and ordinary citizens, even through their fear and concern for their own health and the health of their families, reach out cou-rageously to provide care for others. We are all capable of bringing peace to the world. Peace exists in every one of us if we allow God to calm our fears, anxieties and prejudices. Peace begins when we bring it into our lives and share it with the people we en-counter every day. Unfortunately, evil does ex-ist and always will. Peace can begin with me and you and catch on to others. BE PEACE! This weekend we celebrate Father’s Day...There is a story about a teacher asking a group of young students what Father’s Day meant to them. A youngster raised his hand and proclaimed “Father’s Day is like Mother’s Day, you just don’t have to spend as much.”
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL THE FATHERS, GRANDFATHERS

Choir Loft Ready for Mass On June 11, the Yamaha U1 piano was transported from Jones Hill Rd. to Capt. Thomas Blvd. It replaced the student “beginner” piano that was already in the choir loft. “The Yamaha has a bigger, brighter sound board,” explains Eduardo Perez, our Music Di-rector. "The Grand piano formally at Jones Hill Rd. was traded in for the U 1 Yamaha to utilize the space more efficiently." The loft is now ready for choir when they return with the rest of us!
It took the two movers one hour to get the piano in its new location. They had to carry it up the stairs! The socially-distanced choir loft, below, is ready for vocalists.

Prayer Against Injustice
St. Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa)
O God, we pray for all those in our world who are suffering from injustice:
because of their race, color, or religion;
for those imprisoned; for those working
for the relief of oppression;
for those who are hounded for speaking the inconvenient truth;
for those tempted to violence as a cry against overwhelming hardship;
for those deprived of reasonable health and education;
for those suffering from hunger and famine;
for those too weak to help themselves and who have no one else to help them;
for the unemployed who cry out for work but do not find it.
We pray for anyone of our acquaint-ance who is personally affected by injustice.
Forgive us, Lord, if we unwittingly share in the conditions or in a system that perpetuates injustice.
Show us how we can serve your children and make your love practical by washing their feet.
Amen.
The Move in Progress
On June 13, almost 500 bricks were taken up and brought to Captain Thomas Blvd. where they will be placed once again. Also, four truckloads of elec-tronics were removed from Jones Hill Rd. and brought to the city barn for recycling. Many thanks to our “movers,” Rob and Robbie Vets, Bob and James Guthrie, Bill Armour, Art Nugent, Rich and Patty Boyne, Ernie Conte and Matt Klemenz.
