WISDOM SEEKERS
Anna and Sr. Angela recently celebrated their 100th Birthdays while Fr. Poché celebrated his 90th Birthday.
Anna has lived her entire life in New Orleans and lost everything when Hurri-
cane Katrina ravaged her 9th Ward home. She attended Palmer Elementary,
Washington Elementary, and graduated from John McDonogh High School.
Maw Maw, as she is known by her family, has three children, eight grandchil-
dren and 11 great-grandchildren. Anna has been a resident at Our Lady of Wis-
dom since 2006.
Sr. Angela was raised on a farm with seven brothers and remem-
bers picking cotton. She has two first cousins who were nuns
and she entered the convent in 1932. Sr. Angela is a Sister of the
Immaculate Conception and a member of the Cajun Diocesan
Order. Other than Sr. Angela, there are only two other Sisters of
the Immaculate Conception left: Sr. Elizabeth Bourg and Sr. Jerome Blank, who also happen to be residents
at Our Lady of Wisdom. Sr. Angela has been a resident at Our Lady of Wisdom since 2002.
Fr. Poché is the oldest of eight brothers and was born on his
grandfather’s tobacco plantation in St. James Parish. He attended
Jesuit High School in New Orleans and entered The Society of
Jesus at 17. He taught at Jesuit High School in Dallas and spent
the latter part of his career teaching at Loyola University in New
Orleans. Fr. Poché has been a resident at Our Lady of Wisdom
since 2013 and regularly says Mass at the facility.

BUBBLES, BRUNCH & BINGO
Our Spring Fundraiser was a great success. On
Saturday, April 25th, residents, family mem-
bers, friends and staff enjoyed a Bubbles,
Brunch & Bingo. Before the games started, all
enjoyed mimosas and brunch. We played ten
regular games where winners received prize
baskets worth up to $250. The final game was
for a 50/50 pot where the winner took home
$225.
Thanks to all who participated, donated and vol-
unteered for this important event. The money
made on this event will be used to purchase “wall
art” to complement the new common-area furni-
ture on order. Keep your eyes and ears open; we will have a similar event in the Fall.

REMEMBRANCES
LONG-TIME HAIR DRESSERS RETIRE
Henrietta Martin (on the left) and Mary Ann Hebert
(on the right), our longtime hair dressers, recently
retired. A surprise party was given in their honor for
our residents and staff to say goodbye. They’re all
smiles on the right with Bob Laster, Administrator,
and below with Fr. Michael Burke, O.P., a volunteer
with our Pastoral Care department.
Another leaf has fallen, another soul has gone. But still we have God’s promises, in every robin’s song. For he is in His heaven, and though He takes away, He always leaves to mortals, the bright sun’s kindly ray. He leaves the fragrant blossoms, and lovely forest, green. And gives us new found comfort, when we on Him we lean.

Fr. Leo Nicoll, S.J., blesses our St. Joseph’s Day Altar
on March 19th. Residents, family members and staff
enjoyed donated breads, cakes and cookies. Lucky
beans and prayer cards were also distributed.
Thanks to all who donated their time, talent, or gifts
for this very special celebration.
Blessed are you St. Joseph, witness of the glory of
God here on earth!
Blessed and glorified be God who chose you!
Blessed and glorified be the Son who obeyed you!
Blessed and glorified be the Holy Spirit who sancti-
fied you!
Most Blessed be Mary who loved you!
Denise Davis, DON (center), along
with the nursing supervisors, recent-
ly celebrated Administrative Profes-
sionals Day by honoring two very
special employees. Ward Clerks
Debbie Williams (center-left) and
Ruthie Anderson (center-right) were
given a flower bouquet and personal
gifts from the management team in
appreciation for all they do through-
out the year. “Our residents and fel-
low staff members are so fortunate
to have you two ladies on our team.
Your continued hard work and dedication reflects our Vision, Mission and Core Values,” Denise told to the
group.
