Called to Serve Christ
How Pledges Help the Campaign and Help Your Family A pledge over time will help you to make a huge impact on the Called to Serve as Christ campaign.
When you pledge support for the campaign, structuring your gift over three years allows for financial flexibility while supporting our priests, women religious and parish. Consider this: a parish family may be thinking of supporting the cam-paign goals with a one-time payment of $1,000, a generous gift indeed. If that same family reflects and decides they can do the same $1,000 commitment for each of the following two years, their $1,000 gift will turn into a $3,000 pledged gift. That’s three times the impact! A pledge commitment adds up quickly and will help Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church reach its campaign goal. As part of this campaign, 15 percent of the funds raised by our parish will be returned to address our specific needs of a new Church sound and video system and Kateri Education Center roof. Pledges are not legally binding, but intentions made in good faith. Your pledge can be fulfilled through monthly, quarterly, semiannual or annual installments. It may also be possible to increase your support for the campaign with a matching gift from your employer. You may benefit from supporting the campaign with a charitable deduction on your tax return, and the diocese will provide these tax statements at the end of each year.
For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as ransom for many.
Mark 10:45
Acts 4:8-12
Speaking Up There are times you just have to speak up. Something wonderful has delighted you. Or something unjust has befallen you. You may not speak eloquently, but you have to tell people about it. You might send a letter to congress or to the editor of your paper. The word inside you has to get out. The higher it goes the better. Peter and John healed a cripple, then preached a sermon about Jesus. Mul-titudes listened. The authorities grew nervous. So they arrested the apos-tles and locked them up overnight. Meanwhile, five thousand new believ-ers were baptized. The next day, the authorities asked Peter and John for an explanation. They gave a speech about the good deed done to a cripple, the power of the name of Jesus Christ, the guilt of those who crucified him, and the majesty of God who raised him from the dead. Peter and John had experienced the wonder of God’s power and the injustice of their arrest. In the wake of these events, they preached a powerful sermon. When God’s power touches us, we have to speak up about it. This Easter God has raised you up to new life in Christ. What wonders have you seen? Who will hear you proclaim them?
