• With the objective to implement TerrAfrica investments in a programmatic and partnership manner;

The Users of the Knowledge Base
Users = TerrAfrica Stakeholders :
• Organisations members of the TerrAfrica EC ( development partners and representants of beneficiaries)
• Organizations members of the TerrAfrica consultative forum
• Within countries: members of the TerrAfrica task forces and partners of the TerrAfrica CSIF ( public, private, NGOs and CS)
• Land users (individuals, communities)
• Wide public
• different backgrounds ( technical, policy, disciplines, cultures)• most of them have access to digital info, except in most cases land
users ( which do have access to other communications tools, e.g. radios)

•Free text searched through a large selection of relevant data/ information sources ( web sites, data bases) no query through indexed doc / key words ( too cumbersome)
• Communication :
•Window for interactive dialogue between stakeholders and with KB administrators
•Linkages with other communication networks

•portal connected to 350 rural radio ( AMARC; AIF) with possibility to send messages ( fact sheets, newsletters) and receive feed back;
• any other networks ( CGIAR etc..)• interface with TA KB could be managed by an NGO
• Country Knowledge Bases , options:
•National web sites, hyperlinked to the international KB
•Replication of the KB, filled with national data• TerrAfrica web page according to national structure
•International KB, where country specific data built in and accessed within the KB library ( under country name)

3. Knowledge Base implementation

•September 1- 06: presentation to the TA EC- discussions
• September-October 06: preparation of KB, mock up version 1, in word format, under SAG supervision:
•collection of TA stakeholders resources ( web sites/ data bases/networks)•definition of the vision structure for the KB •preparation of the chapeaux •selection of documents of the KB library •identification of web tools •options for the KB design
•November 06: finalization of the KB mock up:•revision of mock up according to SAG inputs •acquisition of web tools ( search engine and discussion group)
•December 06 : translation of the word mock up into a web site, with agreed design
•January, February 07: test and refinement of the KB with SAG members
•March 07 : launch of the KB
•From April 07 onward: operationalization of the KB •KB version 2 •progressive development of national and local versions of the KB
