Mike Seale It’s official. Summer events have started. So, mark your calendars, get set, and let’s get going! FIRST: We introduce our Summer Intern to the Youth Program, James Ham. James will accompany the Jr. High and High School students to the Ultimate Youth Rally this weekend (May 26-28) in Germantown. Our youth always have an incredible spiritual experience during this week- end. We ask for you to pray their faith to be increased during this time of fellowship with other young people and in their worship and study of GOD’s Word. Other activities for the youth: Memphis Work Camp is June 5-9 and UPLIFT is June 17-22. SECOND: Vacation Bible School is just around the corner. Our VBS be- gins on Monday, June 5 th and concludes on Thursday, June 8 th . The age group for VBS is K-6 th grade. If you have smaller children we are asking for a least one parent to stay to assist with your child. If you would like to be a volunteer, please see Judy Shepherd or Kim Shirley. Preparations for VBS will be going on all this week. THEME for this year: WILDERNESS TREK. The four Bible stories are: Elijah being fed by the ravens (for older students Elijah’s time in the cave), Moses leading Israel in the wilderness wandering, John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness, and Jesus’ temptations in the wilderness. THIRD: World Changers will be here during the week of June 20-23. We are asked to help feed them (individually wrapped sandwiches, chips, desserts (in sandwich baggies), and drinks. If you are able to help, con- tact Victoria Deal in the church office (870) 735-3394. FOURTH: The Crownpoint, New Mexico Mission trip, will be June 23-July 1. Prayers for safe travels and for the young Navajo children who will be attending the VBS during that week. Please pray for the Guyana Mission trip that Rick and Kim Shirley and Mike Jones will be taking July 14 th - 23 rd . And don’t forget about Micah and Madison Tolleson as they minis- ter to those in Africa. Madison is already there for the entire summer, and Micah will be joining her during the month of June. FIFTH: The yearly Northside Kids Camp that reaches out to local kids in our community will be July 24 th – 28 th . Church teams from several differ- ent locations will be here serving our community children. Be prepared to see how you can help. Let us remember the life of Jesus. As Peter stated to Cornelius and oth- ers, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good…because GOD was with him,” (Acts 10:38).
