“A restroom is a pretty dark place, literally and metaphorically. It's usually darker compared to the rest of the building. Within a restroom you will find mean messages written on the wall…[and it’s where] a lot of people receive threats from bullies and enemies. Within the dark and shallow room, there has to be some sort of joy to balance out all the negativity.

Maybe someone will come across the encouraging messages written on the mirrors and take to heart what it says. The truth is everybody deserves to know that they are amazing. I do believe a simple message can brighten someone’s day. Take it from me, your friendly neighborhood post-it message man.”

Our #GunsOut campaign activated 50,516 members around gun violence prevention and protected an additional 44,000 students from firearms. The Find Your V-Spot campaign(the V stands for “voting”!) helped 43,890 members andtheir friends make a plan to vote on November 8.

DJ Patil, U.S. Chief Data Scientist, spent part of his last ocial White House visit to NYC speaking at our oce, providing fascinating insights on how data works at the national level and instilling some (much-appreciated) hope the future. Broadway star Joshua Henry, who plays Aaron Burr in Chicago’s production of Hamilton, wrote and performed an original DoSomething song for our gala. We hope it’ll be released publicly, but you’ll have to “wait for it.”

The White House loves us! In October, eleven DoSomething members visited the Roosevelt Room and advocated for gun violence prevention to senior White House ocials. In August, three DoSomething staers represented us at the White House LGBT Tech & Innovation Briefing, and two other staers danced to The Lumineers at South By South Lawn, the White House’s first-ever innovation and social change festival.

Hosted a Post-Election Impactathon where DoSomething.org hosted leaders from a variety of sectors to hack out ideas to mobilize 5.5 million young people to save the world in 2017.

We're an org for young people, but we love all the support from people over 25!

Joined forces with Bill & Melinda Gates to help young people celebrate the everyday superheroes that strengthen our communities and protect our planet.

904 NYCers signed up for DoSomething’s Annual Summit where we shared findings from our 2016 Survey of Young People and Civic Participation (and had super smart people duke it out on the NGO world’s hottest issues during our Social Good Cage Fight).

SHOUT OUT TOOUR BIGGEST PARTNERSIn 2016, DoSomething.org partnered in a big way with Fastweb, one of the largest scholarship sites. In Q4 alone, Fastweb activated 48,610 young people to take action through our platform. Throughout 2016, After School, one of the largest social networks for high school students, helped us reach over 140,000 high schoolers. In Q4 specifically, they activated 42,500 high schoolers around voter registration and prescription pain med abuse.

Our decade-longdynasty continues!
