Hello everyone!
Last week out walking I noticed a couple of large ice blocks in the road. Almost immediately a truck came by
and banged into them. How is it possible to crunch into a block of ice in April!
What the ice block incident reminded me of was the difference between “should” and “is”. There shouldn’t
be large chunks of rock-like ice in mid-April. Ice should be soft and melting here! The average temperatures
should be in the 50’s. The truck, however, found out again that the reality of frozen water is hard. That block
of ice was like a brick, like it or not.
Today’s celebration of Jesus as the Good Shepherd reminds us that the Lord walks with us not just in some
statistically calculated way. It’ not just that he should be with us. That he should look out for us. That he
should take care of things when we are in need. No, the Good Shepherd work right where
we are. He is with you. He is with me. We don’t need to act or put on masks to seem like
someone we are not. Even when we are not in the best mood or have things we are
ashamed of, he will not run away. He truly and authentically is with us.
While it is true most of us are tired of the wintery weather— —, we are also grateful
that the Lord is with us. Together we can turn to our Good Shepherd and say “we
draw life from you, Lord Jesus!”

La semana pasada, caminando, noté un par de grandes bloques de hielo en el camino. Casi de inmediato pasó un camión y se los llevó de encuentro. ¡Cómo es posible chocar con un bloque de hielo en abril!
Lo que el incidente del bloque de hielo me recordó fue la diferencia entre "debería" y "es". No debería haber grandes trozos de hielo como roca a mediados de abril. ¡El hielo debería ser suave y derretirse! Las temperaturas promedio deberían estar en los 50's. El camión, sin embargo, descubrió de nuevo que la realidad de que el agua congelada es muy dura. Ese bloque de hielo era como un ladrillo, le gustara o no.
La celebración de hoy de Jesús como el Buen Pastor nos recuerda que el Señor camina con nosotros no solo de una manera estadísticamente calculada. No es solo que él debería estar con nosotros. Que él debería cuidarnos. Que él debería encargarse de las cosas cuando lo necesitemos. No, el Buen Pastor funciona justo donde estamos. Él está contigo. Él está conmigo. No necesitamos actuar ni ponernos máscaras para parecer como alguien que no somos. Incluso cuando no estamos de buen humor o tenemos cosas de las que nos avergonzamos, él no huirá. Él de verdad y auténticamente está con nosotros.
Si bien es cierto que la mayoría de nosotros estamos cansados del clima invernal, —☺!, también estamos agradecidos de que el Señor esté con nosotros. Juntos podemos dirigirnos a nuestro Buen Pastor y decir "¡sacamos vida de ti, Señor Jesús!"

Safe Environment Week is April 22-28.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Every year, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee observes this important time
with various inspirational and educational programs. We also designate one specific seven-day period as “Safe Envi-
ronment Week.” This year, Safe Environment Week will be April 22 – 28, 2018 and the theme is HAVE COURAGE, GO
FORWARD.
Pope Francis offers a message for all of God’s children of hope-filled inspiration and motivation with his words “have
courage, go forward.’’ As a faith community, together we recognize that we live in the present yet we must always look
toward the future, remembering the steadfast love God provides for each and every one of his children. As a faith com-
munity, we have been commissioned with this great responsibility to HAVE COURAGE, GO FORWARD.

Join us for a UW-Whitewater baseball game!
Due to the weather, the game we were supposed to
attend got rescheduled. On Monday, April 30th you
are invited to join us for a doubleheader
between the UWW and St. Scholastica
baseball teams. The first game starts at
1:00 PM. The second games starts around
4:30 PM. We will meet at the UWW
baseball field, Prucha Field at James B.
Miller Stadium (910 W. Schwager Dr. in
Whitewater) on that day. There is a free
parking lot at the field. If you are interested in
attending, please sign up in the back of church or in
the Faith Formation office. Tickets are only $2 for
children, youth, and senior citizens and $3 for
adults. Contact Rick in the Faith Formation office if
you have any questions. You may also contact Eric
with UWW at (715) 213-0792 for questions about
the game.

St Patrick's Christian Women’s Annual Rummage and Bake Sale will take place on Friday, April 27 (8:00 am - 3:00 pm) and Saturday, April 28 (8:00am - 1:00 pm). With a $3 “all you can stuff in a bag
sale” at noon on Saturday. If you have clean, usable items to donate, please drop them off on the South end of Berry Hall beginning April 14th. We are looking for help with pricing and sorting every morning from 8:30 to Noon, Monday thru Friday, beginning April 16th. If you have a few hours to help, please join us as often as you are able. with the world because of your faith or values?
