Page 2: Our Savior’s Lutheran Church fileanyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? If you then, who are evil,

anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will

give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a

snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good

gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in

heaven give good things to those who ask him! In

everything do to others as you would have them do to

you; for this is the law and the prophets. Enter through

the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy

that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it.

For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to

life, and there are few who find it. Everyone then who

hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a

wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the

floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house,

but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock.

And everyone who hears these words of mine and does

not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his

house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the

winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and

great was its fall!’ Now when Jesus had finished saying

these things, the crowds were astounded at his teaching,

for he taught them as one having authority, and not as

their scribes.

L This is the word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.

SERMON PASTOR STEVE SYLVESTER

SONG (8:45) ELW #597 “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” Vv.1, 2, & 4

(10:45) “Lord I Need You” Reeves

PRAYERS - PSALM 31 L In you, O Lord, I seek refuge; do not let me ever be

put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me. C Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily. L Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save

me. C You are indeed my rock and my fortress; for

your name’s sake lead me and guide me, take me out of the net that is hidden for me, for you are my refuge.

L Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have

redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God. C Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress;

my eye wastes away from grief, my soul and body also.

L For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with

sighing; my strength fails because of my misery,

and my bones waste away. C But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my

God.’ L My times are in your hand; deliver me from the

hand of my enemies and persecutors. C Let your face shine upon your servant; save me

in your steadfast love. L Do not let me be put to shame, O Lord, for I call on

you.

SPOKEN PRAYERS

RECONCILIATION

OFFERING

PRAYER AFTER OFFERING

L Let us pray,

C O God, rather than storing up for ourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, we put our trust in you and we ask you to use us and all that is ours to pursue health and wholeness for your world.

JESUS’ WORDS OF INVITATION

HOLY COMMUNION

PRAYER AFTER HOLY COMMUNION

L God of all creation,

C “One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” In Jesus Christ, the word made flesh, we have eaten our fill. Take up the broken pieces of our lives, O God, and send us into the world as peacemakers. Amen.

BLESSING P You are the light of the world. No one after lighting

a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the

lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In

the same way, let your light shine before others, so

that they may see your good works and give glory

to your Father in heaven. C Amen.

CLOSING SONG (8:45) ELW #841 “Lift Every Voice and Sing”
