Genesis 12:1-4 Tension in the Text
The world was in crisis. What will God do with creation gone bad?
God gave an amazing promise. Abraham accepted.
Genesis 12:6-9 Abraham wasn’t secure in where he was called, but with whom
he lived. God may be calling you to something amazing.
… and scary. He wants you to go … to trust.
God’s calling was disruptive to Abraham’s life. He went anyway.
Abraham needed to do more than obey the promise. He needed to embrace it. He faltered a few times. Genesis 12:10-13 - Egypt Genesis 20 - Abimelech
Future Child How did God react?
Faithfully Most places God calls us to aren’t physical addresses.
They are spiritual places. Where is God leading?

God’s Victory over the Deceiver Matthew 4:1-11
Most of us realize that our own strength and resolve is not enough to navigate through tough times. Jesus knew it and acted appropriately. Most of us realize
that a prayer for strength is often needed. Jesus knew it and reacted correctly. Most of us realize that God is always ready to give us the strength we need. Jesus knew it and answered accurately. Most of us realize that it is wise to call on God for strength to help us sustain what appears to be the unsustainable. Jesus realized it and did exactly that.
In Matthew 4:1-11, we see:
God leads and he led Jesus into the desert.
God gives us the power to choose and Jesus chose the perfect response 3 times.
God was undefeated then and He is undefeated now!
God has given us an arsenal that is His Word and He conquered the deceiver 3 times.
So, what can we do with this information: Pray. Study. Worship. Wield the sword, the Word of God. Be on guard because the deceiver is actively tracking us down.
Now, apply the information in real time…“Let’s claim the victory.” As I observe what is unfolding in the world, I am disappointed, saddened, sickened, and disgusted we have moved so far from God and clos-er to the deceiver. Who is going to get us back on track? Well, God is ready! We saw what He did, in Matthew 4:1-11, and He does it today! Are we ready to accept His victory over the deceiver?
Blessings…Larry D. and Lou Ann Phillips

How are you staying close to your Memorial friends? “We have been keeping up with our Memorial family through texts, emails, and mostly through Zoom. Beth has continued to attend Ladies' Bible class online at 10 am every Tuesday. She loves seeing all the sweet familiar faces plus the newcomers that have been able to join since the class went online. Taylor meets with the other Bridge students every Monday and Wednesday evening online as well. Brad joins them on Wednesday night to continue teaching through the book of Acts, like they would have been doing Sunday mornings before this season of separation started. We still look forward to the time of hugs and handshakes as soon as this season is over!” - The Colliander Family

How has your family been blessed? “Being quarantined together has been such a blessing to our family because it has given us the opportunity to share more quality time together, as well as to pray more together. One thing we’ve implemented as family that we had not done before is share at least one reason we’re grateful, as well as share at least one reason why we appreciate one
another while at the dinner table. This is very important because it helps us to stay joyful and to cherish life during a time when so many things are uncertain. But through it all we know we can trust our Heavenly Father.” - The Bonnett Family
How have you been spending your time? “Quarantine has been an interesting experience. We enjoyed having our daughter, Emma, home for the first few weeks before she started her new adult life in Oklahoma. We have loved getting things done around the house, communicating with church family and meeting neighbors as we sit nightly on the bench behind our backyard fence. Sermons and Bible classes still needed to be written and delivered so we have kept up much of our routine.” - The Duncan Family
