My experience as a graduate Mechanical
Engineer and an MBA from Southampton
Solent University, UK has taught me the ways
to take risks and work passionately to
manage a sector like Maritime. My work
experience in human resources, quality,
operations, finance management with some
of the notable organisations like Southampton
General Hospital (NHS Trust), UK,Maritime
and Coast Guard Agency(MCA), UK,
Care(UK) gives me drive to manage a varied
pool of work ethically. This is the reason my
urge for learning has not stopped and I am
still continuing my studies in Business Laws in
National Law School of India University,
Bangalore. Apart from this I have completed
ancillary studies in Finance Management,
Quality Management, Project management,
IELTS Training, TOTA etc. to be able to
contribute more towards training and
management of our group of maritime
institutions and be able to contribute
differently to the society as a whole. I am
certificated ISO Lead Auditor from Bureau of

WHAT OUR STUDENTS THINK
SANJAY JAHANGID MV Amira Eman
I chose SAMET for my cadetship because of its
“reputation for getting on board placement. Then
I went to UK for my DipHE to make myself more
employable in the shipping industry.
The DipHe was experience was very different form my
CertHE Cadetship. The workload and culture was
different I got real tase of what is it like to study in a
prestigious UK University. The experience certainly
developed me. I am much more self dependent and
much more open in communicating with others.
Academically the support was UK.
The highlight for me in this program was when I
returned to work after my DipHe when all my friends
were still studying for their graduation and still
thinking what to do with life I was already focused and
landed my self a job with whit a very good pay
package.
I want to follow the career path laid down by SAMET
and LJMU and want to climb up the rank ladder to
become a Captain as soon as I can.
always there for me SAMET was always with me in every
step of the way even when I was on board and in the UK.

DIKSHIT GULATI JAOHAR RIMA
I attended SAMET open day not knowing much
“about the college and had little idea about
Merchant Navy. Having looked around and
then after speaking and listening to the faculty
members I realised that career in Merchant Navy and
LJMU program will give me the best opportunity to
move forward in my career.
For me, while studying in SAMET the highlights were
meeting the top officials in the international maritime
industry who used to come to our campus for visits.
One of the advantage of this program is that it is very
competency and real life based situations that we
would be facing at sea. The cadetship at SAMET has
really helped prepare for the life at sea which I had
little clue before I joined my cadetship.
The DipHE in the UK had put a major impact on me
from a personal point of view. Studying in Liverpool
for almost a year has helped my communication skills,
my understanding and appreciation for others and
made me a much better and more tolerant human
being.
I would certainly recommend SAMET and LJMU as a
place to train for Merchant Navy. Both are excellent
institutes. With a good range of experienced seafarers
to help you along the way. If you are confused I will
suggest you speak to the faculty members, as I did, so
that they can give you the reassurance you need.
I really enjoyed my time at SAMET and LJMU and I am
certainly glad that I chose to come here. I now have the
confidence to sail as a competent officer.

LJMU CertHE BEng Mechanical and Marine Engineering Student Testimonial:
After completing my 10+2 Science, my strong desire to work as a cadet drew me towards Springdale Maritime Academy (SAMET). Previously, I have heard high about their Nautical Science course but looking at my interest into mechanical domain, their course mentor suggested me to choose BEng Mechanical and Marine Engineering course. And thanks to them, I felt privileged that my interest for mechanical subject acted like stepping stones in completing this program with flying colors. Their helpful counselling is not limited to admission duration only rather, they happily guide their students against each odds till the completion of the course. The staffs are very cordial. Talking about the teachers, I have not seen such talented group of experts under a single educational umbrella anywhere else. They train the students to the core and let the students grasp the fundamental details without making any rush hours. SAMET never lets its students to find any flaw in its management. Hostel rooms are well maintained and foods are hygienic as well as tasty. I would definitely recommend SAMET to those who are looking to build a successful career as a captain in Merchant Navy.

Multipurpose Bridge Simulator
This 180 degree multi-purpose bridge simulator consists of three networked ship's bridges, which can
be utilised to undertake a wide range of training and professional development courses. Each cadet
can have a full experience of bridge view and ship operation before they step up on board.
Each ship's bridge includes one radars and an ECDIS system in an environment that closely
resembles equipment and layouts found in the real world. Also it includes other navigation equipment
such as echo sounder, GPS, speed log etc.
The simulator is able to replicate a range of ship types and sizes, target vessels, and geographical
databases to exercise. Simulator is loaded with heavy dense traffic area like Bosphorus strait,
Singapore strait , English Channel where the candidates can practice their decision making style with
regards to Rules of the Road.
Each bridge can run different exercises at the same time. Alternatively, the same exercise can be run
separately on each bridge, or an interactive exercise can be created where all three of the ships are
involved in the same exercise simultaneously.
The simulator allows for total and instantaneous control over traffic and environmental conditions.
30
ECDISWe have an impressive range of bridge simulation and ECDIS (Electronic Chart
Display and Information System) training facilities, which are delivered by our highly
experienced lecturing staff who have many years of operational navigation
experience, as well as teaching and assessor qualifications.
All deck officers and newly joined deck cadets undertaking our programs can go
through these courses for bridge simulators and ECDIS equipment before finally
gaining their professional certification or before they take up their role in bridge.

LCHS SIMULATORS
LCHS Oil Tanker
The LCHS oil tanker simulator offers a range of models including Aframax, Panamax and VLCC vessel types.
Based on actual cargo handling systems the simulator includes the segregated ballast system, slop tank arrangements, Tank wash
arrangement (including COW) and Inert gas system. Detailed visual representations of pipelines, valves, pumps, sensors, gauges
and other components in the cargo handling system of an oil tanker realistically recreate the environment. Systems can be
operated directly from screen based or hardware controls including buttons, knobs, gauges and switches. Operations include:
· Loading and discharging of different cargo grades with two valve segregation, or homogeneous grade operations
· Tank atmosphere control including Inerting (Dilution or Displacement method), Purging, Gas freeing and Vapor Return
· Ship to ship transfer
· Tank washing in multiple modes including hot water wash.
· Cargo heating and wash water heating
· Handling washings and disposals as per MARPOL including decanting and discharging through ODMCS
· Tank entry preparations
· Handling of aux. machinery including Hyd. System, AUS, Stripping system, Eductors, UTI and several others.
· Portable and Fixed Gas detection equipment and calibration
LCHS- Chemical
Chemical Cargo Handling Simulator accurately reproduces the typical cargo handling systems found on a chemical tanker.
The simulator is modeled on the cargo systems found on IMO type II and type III chemical tankers suitable for the carriage of
category X, Y, Z and other substances in bulk. The simulated cargo space is divided into 20 cargo tanks with individual loading and
discharging lines including manifolds. An individual tank venting line is provided for each tank along with a segregated ballast
system, designated slop tank arrangements and a tank cleaning system.
The simulator allows trainees to operate the complete set of systems and to carry out all standard chemical tanker cargo
operations, including:· Loading and simultaneous discharging of multiple cargo parcels
· Tank atmosphere control including Inerting (Dilution or Displacement), Gas freeing, Nitrogen padding or Purging.
· Ship to Ship Transfers
· Tank cleaning with chemicals , hot sea water or fresh water
· Tank steaming and drying

LCHS-Gas
LNG Simulator offers both MOSS type LNG carriers and Membrane type LNG carrier simulation models.
The Moss type LNG carrier model is based on an IGC type 2G LNG ship with vapour pressures within the atmospheric to 0.25 bars
range. The design of the cargo containment system is spherical independent tanks of Kværner-Moss Technology (Moss)
consisting of a single wall, insulated, spherical tank, supported by a vertically built skirt. The Membrane type LNG carrier model is
based on an IGC type 2G LNG ship with vapor pressures within the atmospheric to 0.25 bars range. The design of the cargo
containment system is independent Prismatic tanks which have two barriers forming a thermal insulating membrane tank based
on the GAZ Transport and Technigaz (GTT) mark III System.
Layout and realistic visuals of cargo handling system on each model is based on typical system found aboard specific ship type
including LNG vaporizers, Forcing vaporizers, HD/LD compressors , heaters , Boil off control and Operation monitoring system
based in the cargo control room with remote indications of levels, temperatures, pressures, pump controls, valve controls, ESD
controls, temperature and pressure recorders, trim, stress & stability calculators and other systems designed to provide control
over the cargo operating system.
