Seve ral we eks al 'O It was bor rowed by one of the regular ! library patrons. Next came a query from a de t ect iv e as, to wh o h ad t ak en out "Starbuck". Three people I went to work thumbing through all the c ar ds f or the answer. They were able to tell the de tecti\'e the book had been bor rowed by a woman-a very nice person-with t wo s on s in the service. Two w ee k s later the woman returned two other books. When asked a bo ut " St ar bu ck ," s he seemed amazed that the tight lipped d e te c ti v e had no t re vealed his quest. The woman explained she had given the book to h er soldier sonwho w as home from Indian town Gap on a we ek en d p as s, He thumbed a ride on the way back but t,he motoristslammed the door of h is c ar a nd drove o ff in a h u ff when the soldier said it was regulations to ask for the license number of a car w he n g iv en a r id e. Also, the motorist drove off with the sol dier 's bag, Eventually the automobile was a ba nd on ed in P it ts bu rg h , It i proved tobe a stolen car and de tectives thought they had a hot tip when the soldier's bag and "Starbuck" were found in the back seat.
