Our Values: Respect, Success, Passion for Learning, Personal Challenge, Harmony Friday 15th November 2019 Editor: Ms D Sianou [email protected] Mental Health Day was celebrated throughout the school by all the teachers. Teachers were wearing yellow for the whole day. Whether the teachers choose a subtle splash of colour or dress like sun- shine from head to toe, together we showed young people that they're not alone with their mental health. At Rokeby School, we know the range of pressures our students are facing on a day to day basis. These include; self reflection on body image, exam pressure, bullying and social pressure. These pressures can make an individual feel very isolated and overwhelmed which can be difficult for a student to deal with. Therefore, we want to increase the aware- ness of these pressures and how these pressures affect our mental health and well-being. #HelloYellow was about making students and staff aware of mental health and to send a message that it's ok to reach out for help. Mr Virk - PE teacher & YC On Friday 8 th November, P4C champions visited New City Primary School to work with year 6 students and deliver a P4C session on preparing for secondary school. We received wonderful feedback from the New City Staff. Well done P4C Champions on doing fantastic work with the local community. Thank you to you and your pupils for their insightful and thought provoking P4C workshop. Your pupils really helped deepen our pupils understanding on history, philosophical thinking and the various anxieties they may have regards moving to secondary school. The interaction your pupils had with ours was brilliant. Our pupils were initially anxious and hesitant to answer and partake but within a few minutes into the presentation they all grew in confidence and created a great rapport with yourself and your pupils. This workshop will have a long lasting impact on them as they start preparing for secondary school life. A great ending to the week! Thank you again and I look forward to working with you and your school with future projects. Mr Alum Deputy Head Teacher, New City Primary School

Top set students, in year 11, were given the opportunity to visit a science exhibition in the excel centre. At this expo we got to expand our knowledge in science and many other subjects that branch out from it. These included: microscopes and tele-scopes, the science behind historic weaponries, as-tronomy, time travel, sounds, holograms, etc. We explored almost all of excel and had a once in a life time experience. We are grateful to the school for giving us this opportunity to visit such a stimulating exhibition like this which helps us in our studies as well as relieving our stress. Special thanks to Ms Bonell who did all of the organisation.
