ST. PAUL’S COMMUNION STATEMENT: Our Lord Jesus graciously shares with us His body and blood to forgive our sins, assure us of salvation, strengthen our faith, and unite us as members of His church. We believe:

That we are sinful human beings in need of forgiveness;

That the Lord’s Body and Blood are truly present in the bread and wine which He offers us;

That through the sacrament we are forgiven of our sins;

and strengthened to live as God’s people. If you share our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we invite you to join us at His table. If you do not wish to take communion, you are invited to cross your arms over your chest and re-ceive a blessing from the Pastor. If you have any questions, please consult the Pastor or a Lay Minister.

COME AS YOU ARE Welcome to St. Paul Lutheran Church! We are a community of believers from all walks of life, who face all kinds of daily struggles and challenges. We don’t have all the answers, but we know the One who does. We don’t always get things right, but by God’s grace we follow the One who never sinned. We are not perfect people, just forgiven people, and you’ll fit in just as you are! You don’t need to bring the perfect clothes or the perfect smile or the perfect family…just yourself, with all your questions or hurts or scars, and let Jesus take it from there!

A Year of Discipleship Throughout the 2019-2020 year at St. Paul, we will take time to focus on what it means to follow Jesus and be faithful to His calling. Following Jesus isn’t always easy. Loving others can be difficult. Being generous with the time, energy, and resources He has given us can be challenging. But, as we seek His Kingdom and obey His Word, we will grow in faith, hope, and peace in the love of Jesus by His Spirit!

Dear St. Paul Lutheran Church, School, and Early Learning Center Families,

After the announcement from Judge Cortez yesterday, declaring a public health disaster in Hidalgo County due to COVID-19, the Executive Staff has made the decision to suspend all worship services and school-based instruction for 2 weeks.

At this time, the Early Learning Center will remain open with the additional provisions given by licensing. If, for any reason, you need to visit our campus, you must have your tempera-ture checked before proceeding into the building.

There will be no on-campus worship from March 18 through April 3. The worship team will be making available Live Stream and online worship and Bible studies. You will be able to find all of these resources on our website.

All Lenten meals, board meetings, music groups, and youth events are canceled for this time frame. We will continue to update you as more decisions are made. Please know that we are working hard to continue ministry to our members in the best ways that we can in these trying times. You may continue to support St. Paul through online giving or my mailing your donations/tithes to the front office.

The school will be extending Spring Break for students through Tuesday, March 24. Teach-ers will report to school on March 23 and 24 to prepare for the transition to digital instruction. Home-based remote learning will begin on Wednesday, March 25 and will continue through April 3. School-based learning will resume on campus on Monday, April 6. More information on digital instruction will be sent early next week.

If we are required to close our building for longer, that information will be communicated to you no later than Thursday, April 2.

The front office will remain open from 8am-5pm every day. Please call if you have questions or concerns.

Please know that we are praying for the health and wellbeing of our entire community. Con-tinue to be safe and practice the recommendations from the CDC regarding hand-washing and social distancing. We pray that all of these precautions help slow the spread of this virus and we are able to come together as a community very soon!

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Gregory Lorenz

Sermon Notes Series: Growing in the Wilderness

Title: Growing When Jesus Takes the Blame for Us Text: John 9:1-7, 13-17, 34-39

The cross of Jesus overcomes all blame, fear, and guilt!

An age-old question: Whose ___________ is it?

Humans always need someone to __________ for our struggles and __________________. Reflections on John 9:

1) The disciples want to know who was at ________ for the man’s _________________. They assumed he was being __________________.

2) Our need to cast ___________ comes from a need to feel that we are in ________________.

But, in the end, all it does is lead us to _________ ____________.

3) Jesus doesn’t point fingers, but points to ______________. He takes all the ____________ on Himself. He points to where _______ is working, even in the midst of __________________. He reminds us that He is in _____________. He points to the __________, where He works _________________ and crucifies our ________.

Final Thoughts

4) Even in the midst of panic and fear around us, how can we point to ___________ in-stead of pointing fingers?

5) Rather than getting lost in the wilderness of ___________, God invites us to see where His _______ is at work.
