In 2016, YOU helped make a difference for children, adults, and senior citizens at Christmas. In addition to the material things that you gave those less fortunate, you also gave them the gifts of time, love, caring, and hope. You opened your wallets and you opened your hearts. On behalf of all of the individuals to whom you gave Christmas, our board says “Thank you”. We pray that you will continue that support during the 2016 season.

Applications are being taken at First United Methodist Church in Morehead City (thru December 8) 10am—1pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only. (Not Friday after Thanksgiving)

How to Adopt: You can adopt individual children in two ways: by visiting one of the Angel Tree locations (see below) and choosing one or more Angels

from the Angel Tree at that location. by contacting the Project Christmas Cheer office directly.

We encourage you to be realistic and only adopt those you can assist. Once you receive information on the families or children you have chosen, you can contact the parents directly and find out what they need most, when and how to deliver it, and any other needed details.

These may be the only gifts received on Christmas morning by these children!

MISSIONARY: JADE & SHELAH ACKER LOCATION: MONTREAL, KAMPA, UGANDA

Jade and Shelah Acker are Cooperative Baptist Fellowship field personnel who live and serve in Uganda, where they are committed to doing holistic ministry through Refuge and Hope International, an organization they operate and began in 2004. Refuge and Hope International serves the urban refugee community in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, which is located in East Africa. The nonprofit organization is located in a heavily refugee-populated area of the city that is primarily home to refugees from South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Ethiopia and Rwanda.

Each year, Refuge and Hope serves more than 1,000 refugees through the Center of Hope, as well as through skills and business training programs, youth and women’s ministry, spiritual development and social work programs.

The Ackers offer educational, professional and personal development programs designed to help refugees recover from the effects of war, realize self-sufficiency and become catalysts for change in their communities.

MISSIONARY: EDDIE & MACARENA ALDAPE LOCATION: ALBACETE, SPAIN

Eddie and Macarena Aldape are Cooperative Baptist Fellowship field personnel ministering to immigrants and students in Albacete, Spain. After serving 13 years in India among the Banjara, the Aldapes arrived in Spain in December 2015 where they are launching Centro de Esperanza (The Hope Center) to assist immigrants through the registration processes language acquisition, culture simulation and directing them to local organizations that can meet their immediate needs.

Many immigrants arriving in Spain have left family behind and find themselves in a state of desperation, seeking to discover opportunities and secure a better life for their families. After facing many obstacles,

these immigrants often find themselves alone and hopeless. Centro de Esperanza is a place where these newly-arrived immigrants can encounter the love of Christ and renew hope.

Students in Spain often have a gloomy future living in a country experiencing a severe financial crisis with an unemployment rate of 45 percent among undergraduates. Many students in Spain are also disillusioned in matters of faith. The Aldapes teach English as a Second Language clas-ses, which provides opportunities to share faith, offer encouragement and provide support to these students.

MISSIONARY: CLINT STEWART LOCATION: RUSSIA

Today we want to pray for Clint Stewart, one of our missionaries serving in Russia; we support him through our church’s Cooperative Program giving. Clint shares the gospel with Muslims. He does that by offering English classes and presenting Christian movies. These can lead to Bible studies and witnessing opportunities. One young Muslim man named Ildar (say EEL-dar) came to the classes for months and has begun seriously considering the gospel. Now Ildar’s mother is interested in the gospel. Let’s pray today that many Muslims in Russia will find Jesus Christ is the only Savior, as they study English and come to movie nights.

MISSIONARY: BOUNYONG VONGSA LOCATION: GOLD HILL, NC

These days North Carolina is a foreign mission field about as much as it is a home mission field. People have come to our state from all around the world — in fact, more than 300 languages are now spoken in our state.

Our Baptist state convention is helping churches reach these newcomers in many ways, and that includes planting new churches that speak these languages.

Today we want to pray for a church planter who is reaching people from Laos (say LOUSE), which is an Asian country beside Vietnam. His name is Bounyong Vongsa (say BOON-yong VONG-sah) and he is also from Laos.

He is a Christian brother and man of God who has started several Baptist churches to reach people from his country for Christ. The latest one is the New Hope Church, which is in the Gold Hill community near Salisbury.

Our church supports planting new churches like this because we give through the Cooperative Program. We give through the Cooperative Program because we want every person in North Carolina — no matter where they are from — to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Dear Church Family, We want to thank you for all the expressions of love and sympathy shown to us at the time of Mama’s passing. The calls, cards, food, and flowers were very special to us.

Blessings to you all, Fletcher and Kate Noe,

Janet Turner, and Family Dear Church Family, The family of James White wishes to express our deepest appreciation for the outpouring of love shown to us during the time of his illness and death. The prayers, the cards, the food and flowers, the visits, the kind words and the hugs meant so much. We felt surrounded with love and it surely eased the pain to know so many cared.

Thank you so much, Wanda and family
