“I absolutely love my job, and how I can use mycreativity on a daily basis. I’m a very visually-oriented person, and I always get goosebumpswhen I walk into a space I’ve designed, as itrecalls so many positive, strong memories;like The Wilde building on Merrion Squarefor Iconic Offices, or the renovation I’verecently completed for Bellinter House Hotel.I combine a lot of personal passions with work, fitting design shows and antique huntinginto city breaks, and looking outdoors forinspiration, and I love sailing and hiking.I’m an Instagram addict, and find it a greatcreative outlet to quickly share images andideas. I love the Samsung Galaxy S8’s split-screen display function, so I can be uploadingphotographs while simultaneously workingon other apps like Pinterest and WhatsApp.It’s intuitive and smart, and the Samsungbattery is a mighty thing in a slimline case– it just keeps going. Next on my to-do listis to build a travel blog to share all I’veexperienced, and the launch of a new interiorscompany called Reside. Watch this space!”

“As a jewellery designer, I get to make things that markthe most precious moments. The other morning, I wokeup to see a picture of the sweetest couple on top of theEiffel Tower – he had just proposed with a ring I made! They were so full of joy and happiness – that feelingis just magic. I started my career as a fashion designer, and I sold my collection through Topshop, but pivotedto jewellery, and it was a great decision. Now there are22 on the team, and we’re stocked all over the world.Someone once told me a photograph is a momentthat will never happen again, and that’s probably whyI already have 6,000 pictures saved on my SamsungGalaxy S8+. But the handset is really satisfying formy inner nerd too; I love Google Keep – it’s for lists andplanning. We’re currently designing our own app, so thelarger-format screen is great for keeping track of detail, plus the narrow format means I can text easily using onehand without disaster! I think my favourite place in theworld is Japan – it’s where my husband and I went onhoneymoon, and we’re planning a trip back soon, butI also love trips around Ireland; from a week in Kerryin the most gorgeous house with an outdoor hot tubto camping on the beach in Donegal with our besties,I want to make the most of the summer with our people.”

“I love being my own boss andconstantly getting to exercise mycreativity through my design workand my DJ sets. I’ve always lovedthe thought that I can bring joythrough a piece that I make forsomeone, be it a dress, a necklaceor a work apron, or with the tunesI play. Like most creatives, I lovethe door that Instagram opens.I keep meaning to create a website, but I’ve done everything since 2012through Instagram, so it holds aspecial place in my heart. Phone techis incredible, and we’ve come so far;the fact that I can run my businessfrom a handset, create and listen toplaylists, and compile moodboardsis amazing. Camera quality is myoverriding priority, and the frontand back cameras in the SamsungGalaxy S8 are brilliant for shootingmy work (and me!) – colours are true, and images are really sharp. This willcome in handy for my next project –a decision to go back to college part-time to study interior design: anotherexciting facet to add to my brand,Louisa Jane – The Painted Lady.”

“2017 is a busy one, to be sure. We’ve seen the roll-out ofCocoa Brown Ice Goddess highlighter and 1 Hour TanExtra Dark across 10,000 stockists worldwide, and justrecently, Khloé Kardashian featured our Golden Goddesson her app, which was incredible. My phone is my constantcompanion – it’s always glued to my hand for work, butI try to unplug at evenings and weekends. Having saidthat, I’m always reaching for my Samsung Galaxy S8+to access the camera – that’s the most important featurefor me, and it’s why I’m a long-time Samsung user.I want images that don’t need improving! I don’t have timefor fancy editing apps, so my camera needs to bring the

A-game. Actually, when I initially switched to my S8+, myfollowers on Snapchat noticed the improvement in qualityso dramatically, loads of them messaged me asking if I hadstarted using a new phone, and what it was. We’ll soon bemoving to live in New York for a year to set up a US office, and you can be sure this S8+ is coming with me.”

“I’m very proud that in Sprout, we’ve managed tocreate a viable business in healthy food; I love that wecan all grow together by using great, Irish ingredients, and by collaborating with positive, talented people.I started the business with juice, but we’ve now becomefour restaurants, three of which opened this year – lifeis moving quickly! When it comes to phones, I relyon mine to communicate with my team, especiallyas I’m always going from one place to another. Itmeans I can solve problems on the move and makechanges immediately. The most important thing forme in a handset is storage, then battery, then camera. The Samsung Galaxy S8 does all that, and the irisrecognition is a handy, speedy security function thatkeeps all my data secure. I also appreciate that thephone is water- and dust-resistant – good when youare running between, and building, new restaurants!

“It’s obvious to say my life involves a lot of movement, but it really does. I work with such a huge andvaried spectrum of people, from CEOs to students,to international athletes. All are on a journey todrastically improve their quality of life throughtraining, nutrition and performance. Their dailyachievements really give me a sense of pride. I’verecently ventured out on my own as a trainer, andI work internationally as lead lecturer with CrossFit.The latter has brought a lot of travel around Europeand the Middle East. My phone is my office as well asa handset – everything is on it. And because I work insuch a visual industry, I’m always charting progressand inspiration on social media, checking YouTubefor videos, streaming, and reading stuff on the hop.The infinity screen of the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a realbonus for someone like me who’s mobile-first. Batterylife is important too – I like knowing my phone willhave enough power when I get off a flight and need touse Maps. I originally changed to Samsung last yearfor battery life, camera and storage – I was blownaway by all three and have not looked back since.”

W hen you workout of the officeregularly, findinga car that makesbeing off-site as

efficient and comfortable as sittingat my desk is a dream. I recently testdrove the new Volvo XC60 on theday of a fashion shoot, which wasthe ultimate test for me. These on-location days are hectic. I need towork remotely, stay in contact withmy colleagues back in the office, sometimes find my way to obscurelocations and safely transporta lot of precious fashion products.

The XC60 functioned like aportable office. It has a high-speccentral display unit with touch panelthat couldn’t have been simpler tooperate. Once I connected my phoneto the car’s USB port, the unit becamean extension of my iPhone, while alsocharging it. The WiFi and tetheredinternet provided a fast and stableconnection, so that I never once feltout of touch with my team.

I have a dreadful sense of direction,so the XC60’s navigation system tooka huge amount of stress out of my day, while the heads-up display alertedme to changing speeds. This makesdriving on unknown roads so muchsafer. I found that everythingI needed to control the car andnavigate my journey was literally atmy fingertips. The expansive booteasily accommodated all of my bags

and baggage, which left the back seatfree – ideal, as there’s always someonewho needs a lift on these days.

As a fashion director, good designand beautiful aesthetics are importantto me in every aspect of my life,

from what I wear and how I dress myhome to the car I drive. The XC60’sdriftwood dashboard and stitchedleather seating simply ooze luxury. It was an absolute pleasure to be inthe car all day, which is a first for me!

These style experts know how to wear denim. They share their stylingand buying tips, and hard-won advice on the pitfalls to avoid.

THE TASTEMAKERS

LouiseCooney

The model and blogger onher denim inspirationsand tips for choosing the

perfect pair.

My earliest denimmemory isof a light wash, bell-bottompair that I cut the ends offto give them an extra flare.I ended up wearing themto death.

For a flattering fit and greatquality, my first choice isSalsa’s mid-rise skinny fitjeans in dark denim.

My ultimate styling tip is tomatch a pair of well-fitted,simple denim jeans withan interesting top – a floralblouse, a stylish blazer or achunky knit keeps your looksimple but exciting.

For inspiration, I look toVictoria Beckham. I thinkwe all recognise her for herwell-fitted jeans, but shecan also pull off any styleof denim. She’s not afraidto take risks and alwaysmanages to look super-chic.

When buying denim,I always say you should picka pair of jeans that makeyou feel great and that fitperfectly. You don’t need tosettle for a style you’re not100 per cent happy with –you’ll never wear anythingmore than a comfy, stylishpair of well-fitted jeans.

The globe-trotting stylistand Cork native sharesthe styling trick thatworks year-round.

My first foray into denimwas an oversized pair of jeansthat I bought when I was 13.I was working at Toni & Guyon Paul Street in Cork, andone Saturday, as soon as Igot paid, I went into the shopnext door and picked themout. I loved them so muchthat I wore them to work thenext Saturday knowing all toowell I’d be given out to.

To transform an outfit,I often cut off the ends ofmy jeans. This works so wellyear-round; both with bootsin winter; and sandals or heelsin summer.

My denim muse is blogger, fashion writer and brandconsultant Lucy Williams, closely followed by bloggerand stylist Brooke Testoni.

I think it’s important toknow your body shape andwork with it.I don’t wear boyfriend jeansbecause I don’t think theysuit my height and shape:I have high, broad hips anda flat behind, so that styleis quite unflattering onme. My body looks totallydifferent to when I wear mypreferred style, which areskinny and high-waisted.

Meet Eimear in Brown ThomasCork, September 23 at 1pm

LouiseDuffy

The radio presenteron her wardrobemishaps and go-todenim brand.

When I was in college,I really wanted a pair ofjeans that were a little outof my budget. So I did somehunting, and found the samepair online for a lot cheaper.Unfortunately, when theyarrived, they were neitherthe style, nor the colour, nor the size I ordered. ButI was stuck with them, alongwith a whopping customsbill... and beans on toastfor a month.

My go-to denim brand isPaige Denim – the stylesthey offer suit my shape, and they always have a reallygreat selection of washes.

Paige Denim ambassadorand supermodel RosieHuntington-Whiteley ismy ultimate denim muse –it doesn’t hurt that herlegs go on for miles! I lovehow she manages to makea simple pair of jeans lookimpossibly elegant.

Make denim the foundationto your wardrobe. Find ashape that suits you and buyin black and white if you can.As the seasons and trendschange, you can play aroundwith tops and jackets and nothave to worry about the rest.

ErikaFox

The New York-basedfashion and lifestyle

blogger on the plus sideof double denim.

Mydenimmuse isOliviaCulpo.I really admire how shedresses up her denim. I alsoloveOlivia Palermo’s style.

My first foray into designerdenim was a pair of VictoriaBeckham jeans I bought inBrown Thomas. I’ve longbeen a fan of the designerand really admire her label.I loved the fit and thequality of her jeans. Theyare an investment buy,but definitely one of myfavourite buys.

My most memorable denimmoment was a look I woreto Coachella this year. Ihad long been cautious ofwearing double denim, butbraved it for the first timeand absolutely loved it.

My ultimate styling tip isto pair denim with a simplewhite T-shirt and a tailoredblazer. It might sound simple, but effective. It’s one of myall-time favourite looks fordaytime.

When buying denim, comfort is key. Make sureyou choose a style that suitsyour body shape and feelgreat. It’s key to choose apair you can move freely in.

WIDE LEGThe newest way to wear denim isas a culotte, creating a moderntake on the classic wide-legsilhouette. Championed byMarni and Alexander McQueenamong others, it should hitjust above the ankle and beas voluminous as you dare.To inject some femininity intoyour ensemble, pair with a silkblouse and strappy heels, ordress down with tennis shoesand an oversized knit fora chic daytime look.

FRAYEDThe most recent addition to the distressed denim trend is a frayed hem, with New Yorklabel 3x1 the latest denim brand to tackle the dishevelled finish, offering sophisticated stylesbut with an undone edge. With this style, the focus of your outfit should be on the hem ofyour jeans, so keep it simple up top and pick a pair of standout heels for maximum impact.
