WMS Inbound – Put Away

• Connect to the server using the WMS mobile interface

• All updates are real time• Mobile devices are pretty

much standard in all larger facilities

• Oracle supports all major mobile device vendors, including LXE, Symbol, Motorola, and Teklogix


• Login as BEdge• Users are only assigned

tasks that they are qualified to handle

• Each user has defined skills that the WMS references when assigning tasks


• Choose ‘Pick and Put Away’ form Main Menu

• Choose ‘Put Away’• Enter the license plate number

(LPN) assigned at receipt• LPNs are scanned to initiate the

put away process• User defined put away rules

• The WMS checks the attributes of the LPN and chooses the best storage location based user defined rules

• We split the LPN of 200 EA into 2 put aways of 160 EA and 40 EA

• In this case, data verification is given a very high priority – virtually all data associated with the transaction is validated

• When picking we’ll take a look at minimum data verification


• The balance of the LPN is stored in the forward pick location

• Select Pick and Put Away from the Main Menu• Select Accept Next – Express to get picks

• Express requires much less data validation

• Enter Organization: W1


• Equipment has capabilities in the same way employees have skills

• WMS considers the capabilities of equipment when assigning work

• For instance, the WMS would not assign a full pallet pick to someone pushing a cart

• Select Done, which takes the default – no restrictions on capabilities.


• Confirm what we’re picking. Press Enter for the first LPN prompt – It’s optional

• Label it while on the fork truck. Press Ctrl-G at the Confirm prompt

• Confirm the destination locator: STA, L1.1.1
