WINTER TRIPSOUTDOOR REC SKI AND SNOWBOARD TRIPS Meet at the Hobby Lobby, 525 S 8th St Colorado Springs, CO 80905, at 6 a.m. to load up. SNOWMOBILE TOURS “HALF-DAY EXPRESS” Sat, Feb. 15; 8:30 a.m. Meet at Outdoor Rec. The three hour ride is great for those who want to sleep in a little bit. You will see everything you see on the Monarch Park Scenic Tour PLUS the upper meadows and overlook. This 35 mile trip also has more “free-ride” time and departs from the lodge (snow conditions permitting). Passenger must be at least 5 years of age. Drivers must be at least 15-years old (with adult supervision). You need to be at least 18-years old to rent a snowmobile for yourself or another. Cost is $215 for single sled, $265 total for a tandem sled that seats two. Activity includes: transportation, guides, 1/2 day snowmobile trip, snowmobile clothing (helmet, warm outer layer and boots (common sizes) available. Snowmobile insurance (you still have a $250 deductible in case of incident). Group size is limited so sign up early!

BACKCOUNTRY HUT TRIPS Colorado is home to a rich backcountry mountain hut system that allows folks to ski/hike into secluded cabins in the mountains for days at a time and enjoy the playgrounds of our National Forests. Join us for one of these all-inclusive trips this winter and learn about traveling in the mountains in winter, avalanche safety, and ski/snowboard through untouched powder. Skiers and snowboarders should be physically fit, and proficient on black diamond slopes at ski resorts. Cost does not include guide gratuity. Please tip your guide.

SNOWSHOE TRIPS Sat, Feb. 22 Too much time indoors this winter?! Spend some time exploring the Kingdom of Farish on snowshoes. For the upcoming season, we will offer trips both night and day. Whether you’re on snowshoes for the first time or you’re a pro, join this winter adventure! Refreshments and hearty snacks provided for the journey. Dress in layers, because you will warm up quickly. Wear sturdy waterproof boots and a jacket that covers your bum. Route is usually between 1.5 to 3 miles long depending on conditions and customers abilities. Daytime trips meet at 8:30 a.m., return around 1:30 p.m. Moonlight trips meet at 5:30 p.m., return around 11 p.m. (bring a light). Cost is $39/person. Activity includes: transportation, snowshoes and guide. Snow conditions permitting.

INTRO TO BACKCOUNTRY SKIING/SNOWBOARDING Sun, Feb. 23; 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Custom dates available. Cost: $99. Get off the resort and spend a day skiing and riding your own personal powder, big lines, and tranquil trees in the backcountry. This one day trip will teach you the basics of using modern backcountry touring equipment, avalanche safety gear, and give you some perspective on how to stay safe and have fun, deep in the mountains and away from the chairlifts. Your guide will take you to the best snow around, and show you the benefits to earning your turns. When the spring storms arrive, step out a little further and try ski mountaineering in the steep couloirs of the Colorado Rockies! This class is for advanced level skiers and riders, and folks who are cardio fit. Includes transportation, equipment, and guide. Price does not include guide gratuity.

AIARE LEVEL 1 AVALANCHE SAFETY COURSE This course is designed for winter backcountry users including skiers, snowboarders, snowmobilers, snowshoers, and mountaineers. The American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) is on the forefront of avalanche safety training and is the national standard for education in winter backcountry travel. This course is comprised of 2 evenings and 2 field days. Classroom evening sessions go over key concepts, developing a common language in snow science, and basic rescue techniques. Days 2 and 3 are in the field, digging observation pits and evaluating the snowpack, looking at the different layers and crystals, and practicing both safe travel and terrain evaluation techniques, as well as basic buddy rescue in the backcountry. Any user of the Colorado winter backcountry should have the knowledge taught in this course in order to have fun, stay safe, and help others if needed in the wintery wonderland we love to play in. Cost: $410. Includes AIARE Certified Instructors, all transportation, lodging, avalanche safety equipment and ski/snowboard/snowshoe equipment. Commercial value for all inclusions ~$650

INTRO TO ICE CLIMBING Sat, Feb. 1; 7 a.m.-5 p.m. (location dependent). Custom dates also available! Come with us to learn about this fun, exciting, and surprisingly easy activity. We will teach you how to climb these frozen flows and how to safely use ice climbing equipment, as well as how to belay your partners. Don’t miss out on this unique and extremely fun part of the Colorado outdoor scene! Cost: Only $70! Included with your trip: transportation from Outdoor Rec and back, all the necessary climbing equipment, and your experienced and certified AMGA Single Pitch Instructor. INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED ICE CLIMBING If you have climbed before or have taken one of our beginner classes and are ready for something a little more advanced, call us to set up a private course. We will take you to our intermediate/advanced site and go over vertical ice, ice anchors, and anything else you are interested in. Refer to our Ice Climbing Brochure or our website for more information. $70/person with a 2 person min./6 person max. Includes transportation, equipment, and guide. WINTER BIKE RIDES IN PUEBLO Sat., Feb. 1; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. For those of us that just have to ride their bikes, we offer a “no snow we’ll go” bike ride on the bike paths in Pueblo. Pueblo is usually 10-15+ degrees warmer than the Springs. Ride is an out and back from the river walk to the Marina on Pueblo Res. Ride is up to 30 miles long and all bike path. Road bikes will be best. Activity includes: transportation and guides. Cost: $29.

LEARN TO KAYAK POOL SESSION Mon., Feb. 3 ; 8-10 p.m. in the Fitness Ctr. pool. For first-time kayakers, learn basic skills including basic paddle strokes, boat control, balance, and T-rescues. Includes Kayak and ACA Certified Instructor. Four people min. Ages: 9+ and 75+ lbs. Cost:$30

CUSTOM TRIPS/ACTIVITIES If you don’t see something you like or your schedule doesn’t match up with our calendar, then we can make a trip/activity just for you and your group. We intentionally leave days open in our activity calendar so we can put things together for groups that come to us. This could be co-workers, friends, families, groups or whatever. Plan a ski trip, snowshoe trip or another activity we do for your group. One I.D. card holder may sign for up to five guests. Save money with larger groups, set your own schedule and customize your own activity. Some activities may need to be planned far in advance others may only require a week or so. AMERICAN RED CROSS ADULT/CHILD CPR, AED, & FIRST AID RECERTIFICATION COURSES Thu., Feb. 6; 5:30-7:30 p.m. (Registration closes Jan. 30, 6 p.m.) Recertify your American Red Cross Adult/Child CPR, AED, and First Aid. This is a hybrid recertification course and includes a 3 hour online training and 2 hour skills test. Online training link will be sent to you one week prior to the scheduled skills test and must be completed before attending the skills class. Registration will close one week prior to the scheduled skills test. You must be able to provide proof of previous certification and not exceed expiration of certification by more than 30 days. Cost: $50

OURAY HOT SPRINGS AND ICE CLIMBING WEEKEND

Fri.-Sun., Feb. 7-9. Come with us for a once in a lifetime experience to the town of Ouray, CO for a fun-filled weekend of relaxing in hot springs, learning to ice climb, and dining out in this quaint and beautiful mountain town. Commonly referred to as the Swiss Alps of Colorado, Ouray is surrounded by 13,000ft peaks and is home to the International Ice Climbing Festival as well as hundreds of ice climbs ranging in difficulty from beginner to advanced. On Fri morning we will depart for Ouray and once we arrive, drop our things at the condo or hotel, and go out for a quick intro to ice climbing evening class. We will spend Saturday down in the icy box canyon that makes Ouray so famous and climb as much as your heart desires. Sunday will be our last day and we will set up some more difficult, but incredibly aesthetic climbs for you to try in the morning, then pack up and leave for home, arriving back around 8pm. Each evening enjoy a dip in the hot springs, a meal at one of the delicious local eateries, or a fresh beverage from one of the breweries in town. PICNIC AREAS On-base Picnic areas are available for rent from May 1 to Sept 30. Eligible users can start making reservations 4 Feb 2020. Rates are $50 for half day (9 a.m -4:30 p.m. or 3:30-9 p.m.) and $75 for full day (9 a.m.-9 p.m.). Please contact ODR at 719-333-4753 for availability.

CAMPER RENTALSCampers are available to rent May 15-Sep. 30 (See reservation policy below). Our travel trailers are an economical and convenient way to make any summer vacation a memorable one. From Peregrine Pines Famcamp on USAFA to Yellowstone, WY and beyond, your destinations are limitless! RESERVATION POLICYActive duty can reserve high-demand equipment a maximum of 90 days from date of pick up. All other eligible customers can reserve 60 days from date of pick up. All reservable items require a full payment upon reservation. Any reservation canceled will be charged 10% cancellation fee.

Any reservation canceled within 72 hours will lose 50% of their deposit, unless it is a documented military commitment or medical emergency.

FAMCAMP Office is CLOSED for the winter. The office will re-open on April 29, 2020.Famcamp winter rates are effective Oct 9, 2019 through March 31, 2020. Nightly rate for ID card holders is $23. Monthly rate is $620 (30 day commitment required). Each additional day is $23. Two-month fee is $590 per month; total, $1180 due upon arrival. Each additional day $23. Guests are $25 per night, up to 14 nights max. Tent sites are CLOSED for the winter. Car camping is not allowed in any form.Temporary storage available (through March 31); $55/month w/out electricity; and $110/month with electricity.

FARISH Due to historically low usage during the winter season, Farish will be closed annually from Oct. 28 through May 1.

Reservations Policy: 90 days in advance only for Active Duty personnel and 60 days in advance for all other eligible users. Customers are authorized to make reservations a year in advance for large events that require at least 50% of the lodging. These groups will ONLY be scheduled Sundays to Thursdays (no weekends). • Cancellations within 72 hours of the activity date will NOT be refunded or rescheduled unless otherwise stated.

• Cancellations 30 days or more before a multi-day activity start date are refundable in full unless otherwise stated. Cancellations within 30 days of a multi-day activity will not be refunded unless someone takes your place on the activity. Any refunds issued in this case will result in a service fee of 10% of the total price for the activity.

• “No Shows” are non-refundable and will not be rescheduled.

• All trips are subject to cancellation due to unsafe weather or conditions outside of our control. In this event, the trip will be rescheduled or you may opt for a refund minus irretrievable deposits. In the case of cancellation duetoinsufficientparticipation,afullrefundwillbeissued.

• Refunds may be given at any time when a medical emergency or military TDY/PCS orders prohibit participation. A signed doctor’s note or signed orders must be presented in order to receive a refund in these cases. If a refund is given for a multi-day trip in this instance, OAP will retain a service fee of 10% of the total price for the activity.
