If the ECU is blank, erase but do not reprogram, a scecific screen appears. In this case, change the ECU.

Screen for selecting the functions

The icon in the upper LH corner identifies the system during the diagnostic procedure. There is an arrow before every function for which an additional page is available.

Additional functions

When the text of the message is longer than the page, a scroll bar appears on the RH side of the screen.

When an action is authorized, a button is shown at the button of the screen, and the action is validated by pressing the control button.

READING FAULT CODES

12Reproduction or translation, even partial, is forbidden without the written consent of Peugeot Motocycles

READING FAULT CODES

The ECU continually monitors all of the components connected to it, which enables it to continually diagnose the system. In case of a fault on a component, it records a code which represents the type of fault detected and the faulty component.

Only an electrical problem can be detected by the ECU, under no circumstance can it detectseizure of a mechanical component.

After selecting "fault code reading" and validating with the control button, the list of faults recorded by the system is displayed.

There is an arrow in front of each fault for which an additional screen is available giving further information regarding the fault (description of the fault, associated parameters , limit values, ...).

Page 15: OUTIL DIAGNOSTIC TEP 2005 V8 04A - Peugeot Motocyclesinfotech.peugeot-motocycles.fr/doc/SAV/OUTIL... · TEP 2005TEP 2005 byby xxoxotesttes OKOK 2005TEP 2 05 by xxotest TEPTEP Logiciel

READING FAULT CODES

13Reproduction or translation, even partial, is forbidden without the written consent of Peugeot Motocycles

On this same screen, when the fault has been repaired, press the control button to erase the fault from the memory. A new screen tells you that the fault is cleared.

If the fault is permanent and cannot be cleared, the fault must be rectified.

Meaning of fault codes

There are three fault levels on the machine (except for M3A)A = Permanent fault. The fault is present when checking. Check the component involved and its wiring harness. B = Intermittent fault appeared and disappeared since the ignition was last turned on. This fault is easily reproducible (bad contact in a connector, on a wiring harness, etc.). C = Intermittent fault appeared and disappeared since the memories were last cleared. This is a random fault which is difficult to reproduce (worn component, humidity in a connector, etc.).

Four code levels for M3A:A. Current and confirmed fault.B. Current fault not confirmed.C. Fault is confirmed but no longer exists.D. Fault no longer exists.

List of fault codes and their meaning, see: Annex 1: Fault codes page 55.

READING THE PARAMETERS

14Reproduction or translation, even partial, is forbidden without the written consent of Peugeot Motocycles

READING THE PARAMETERS

The ECU continually knows all the engine's operating parameters, the parameters from outside through its sensors, and the internal parameters which are calculated according to the external parameters.

After selecting reading the parameters, the list of parameters available is shown.

A parameter comparison form available on the Internet site, is used for comparing the parameters recorded with the basic values.

See chapter: Recording the values page 26.See chapter: Management of recorded values page 42.

There is an arrow in front of each setting for which an additional screen is available giving further information regarding the setting (description of the setting, limit values,...).

ACTIVATION OF ACTUATORS

16Reproduction or translation, even partial, is forbidden without the written consent of Peugeot Motocycles

ACTIVATION OF ACTUATORS

As the ECU controls all of the system actuators (injectors, pumps, coil) it may therefore operate them if requested to do so by the diagnostic tool.

After selecting actuator activation, the list of actuators is displayed.

There is an arrow in front of every actuator for which an additional screen is available.

The actuators shall not be activated when the engine is running.

Page 19: OUTIL DIAGNOSTIC TEP 2005 V8 04A - Peugeot Motocyclesinfotech.peugeot-motocycles.fr/doc/SAV/OUTIL... · TEP 2005TEP 2005 byby xxoxotesttes OKOK 2005TEP 2 05 by xxotest TEPTEP Logiciel

ACTIVATION OF ACTUATORS

17Reproduction or translation, even partial, is forbidden without the written consent of Peugeot Motocycles

Press the control button to activate the actuator.

The diagnostic tool asks the ECU to operate the actuator to cause it to function. In this way, it is possible to check the electrical functioning of the actuator as well as its mechanical functioning, either visually (ignition), or by sound (injectors, pumps).

The next screen means that the ECU has succeeded in operating the component, but this does not mean to say that the component has really functioned. Only the electric function is checked by the ECU. Test performed = The electric circuit is OK.Test failed = The electric circuit is defective.

List of actuators and their meaning, see: Annex 3: Activation of actuators page 75.
