Difference between Connect for Outlook and Salesforce for Outlook
Connect for Outlook• Syncs only the contacts, tasks,
and events that you manually mark for sync.
• Manually specify related records for each event and task.
• You manually specify related records for each contact you're syncing.
• Administration settings are done in Outlook
Salesforce for Outlook• Syncs all data from the
contact, calendar, and task folders.
• Events and tasks go to My Unresolved Items in Salesforce, where you can easily select related records.
• Contacts are associated to related accounts automatically in the cloud.
• Administration settings are done in Salesforce.
Salesforce For Outlook
Salesforce for Outlook is a Microsoft Outlook integration application that lets you log emails
in Salesforce. You can also sync contacts, events, and tasks between Outlook
and Salesforce. Settings are stored in configurations in Salesforce and may be editable for certain users. Contact your
administrator if you don't have access to a configuration.

Integrating Lotus Notes (8.5) with Salesforce.com
System Requirements
• Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, or Windows Vista (32-bit only; 64-bit is not supported)
• IBM Lotus Notes versions 8.x later. We recommend that you always use the latest available Lotus Notes fix pack.
Caution: If your organization uses a custom Lotus Notes design template (.ntf) with modified fields, Connect for Lotus Notes may not function as expected.
To begin
Connect for Lotus Notes is available in Personal, Contact Manager, Group, Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited Editions.
To begin:
1. Back up your Lotus Notes data. Contact your IT department for its preferred backup procedure.
2. Close Lotus Notes.
3. Back up your Salesforce data by running reports of your contacts and activities and exporting them to Excel. Alternatively, users with Enterprise or Unlimited Editions can ask their Salesforce administrator
to back up their organization’s data using weekly export. Weekly export is also available in Professional Edition for an additional cost.
4. Remove any old versions of Connect for Lotus Notes, which will appear in the Add or Remove Programs dialog box of your Windows Control Panel as “Salesforce.com Connect for Lotus Notes.”

Tip Remember the location where you want to save the file
Step 5: Double click Setup file that has been saved.

Tip Double clicking will initiate setup process. Allow access if you see a message asking permission for installing new software.

Step 8: You may see following message if an older version of Salesforce.com Lotus Notes Edition is present on your system. Click OK.

Step 12: When InstallShield Wizard has completed click ‘Finish’.

Step 13: After installing the SaleForce Connector for Lotus Notes you must configure the following settings or the Notes client will just hang on startup.

If on 64 bit machine then edit the file “C:\Program Filesx86 \IBM\Lotus\Notes \framework \ rcp\ plugin_customization.ini”

Step 15: Paste security lines copied in “plugin_customization” file.

Step 16: Open Lotus Notes by double clicking desktop icon.
TipAfter installing Salesforce.com plug in when Lotus note is opened first time ‘Salesforce For Lotus Notes’ wizard pop up is displayed. Cancel this wizard.

E.g. if password is ‘MyPass’ and
