As we celebrate Easter this month, I remember a story I heard about a father and his son. The father knelt by his son’s bed as the child offered his bedtime prayer. “Now I lay me down to sleep…” came the familiar words. But one verse came out backward: "If I should wake before I die." The little boy realized his mistake and stopped. His daddy responded: "That's the first time that prayer was properly prayed; my deepest longing is that you may wake up before you die." Later that father was thinking about those words and exclaimed, "That's it! That's the promise of the Good News of Easter. This is the time to come alive and live forever! That's the hope of Easter the hope that we may ‘wake up' to eternal life and escape the second death." Indeed, Easter is a time of awakening a time of new life, a time of hope. The Word declares that Jesus Christ is alive from the dead. We celebrate the Resurrection because of our faith that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, conquering death, sin and the grave. Christianity is the faith that claims a living founder. Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem and died on a cross outside the walls of Jerusalem. Jesus Christ has conquered death and the grave and ascended back to the Father. By His Spirit, He is present everywhere in the hearts of those who trust Him and love Him. Christianity is the good news about the Son of God, who came, lived, died, and conquered death, and continues to live. Greetings Members and Friends,

It was the night before his suffering when he made his special request for his followers to remember that He gave his body

for them and poured out his blood as a sacrifice for them. The best way to understand the real meaning of Easter would be

from Jesus, in His three words ... the new covenant.

As we celebrate Easter this month, I remember a story I heard about a father and his son. The father knelt by his son’s bed

as the child offered his bedtime prayer. “Now I lay me down to sleep…” came the familiar words. But one verse came out

backward: "If I should wake before I die." The little boy realized his mistake and stopped. His daddy responded: "That's

the first time that prayer was properly prayed; my deepest longing is that you may wake up before you die." Later that

father was thinking about those words and exclaimed, "That's it! That's the promise of the Good News of Easter. This is

the time to come alive and live forever! That's the hope of Easter — the hope that we may ‘wake up' to eternal life and

escape the second death." Indeed, Easter is a time of awakening — a time of new life, a time of hope.

The Word declares that Jesus Christ is alive from the dead. We celebrate the Resurrection because of our faith that Jesus

Christ was raised from the dead, conquering death, sin and the grave. Christianity is the faith that claims a living founder.

Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem and died on a cross outside the walls of Jerusalem. Jesus Christ has conquered death

and the grave and ascended back to the Father. By His Spirit, He is present everywhere in the hearts of those who trust

Him and love Him. Christianity is the good news about the Son of God, who came, lived, died, and conquered death, and

continues to live.

and the grave and ascended back to the Father. By His Spirit, He is present everywhere in the hearts of those who trust

Him and love Him. Christianity is the good news about the Son of God, who came, lived, died, and conquered death, and

continues to live.

I hope all of you can rejoice in this awakening, I encourage you to invite your loved ones and friends to celebrate Easter with us on Sunday, April 21, 2012 at Courtland UMC at 6:00 am and at Randolph UMC at 9:00 am with Easter breakfast at

7:45 a.m. at the Randolph UMC Fellowship Hall. Let’s pray that they will also “wake before they die.” May the Lord bless and

guide you.

Blessings and Grace,
