Leadership
Rev Charles and Esperance relocated from Bujumbura to Gitega during 1998 when God called them to plant the 1st of 35 churches which now extends through the most part of Burundi.
The next 4 churches are under construction.
They have a heart for God’s purpose and plan for Burundi and have become the spiritual parents to many.
The ministry carries a strong focus on Justice projects to reach orphans, building schools and relief centre.

Missionaries
Anton and Diane van Schalkwyk, came to Burundi February 2009 to answer the call of God and serve alongside Rev Charles and Esperance.
Their primary objective is to train and equip leaders and to create opportunities for volunteers to come serve in Burundi.

Introduction to Burundi
Burundi is a country situated very strategically between Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Tanzania and other neighbours are Uganda and Kenya, these countries form the East Africa community..
Burundi have a population of about 7 mil people. The civil war between the oppressive Tutsi government and the Hutus raged from 1993 for about 10 years intensively. Which induced international sanctions which have left the people poverty stricken.
The war also left major injury on family life where many children have been displaced and have become orphans and many wives left to fend without any husbands.
Burundi is in dire need of God’s reconciliation.

Where to Volunteer?
These are the areas where we need volunteer teams can help:
Holiday clubs to underprivileged primary school children.
Maintenance – building maintenance to school and relief Centre
Development – help to build churches and schools
Resource Training Centre - Resources for the leaders to use for preparing sermons e.g. – Study Bibles, Greek and Hebrew dictionaries in French and English. Also computers, printers

Holiday Clubs
Teams can reach out to under privileged children and orphans by serving as helpers to share Gods love with them as you spend time with them doing fun craft activities, playing games and to minister God’s reconciliation to them.

Building Maintenance
The more practical volunteers who enjoy restoring and maintenance work and prefers to serve Father God with practical skill can come volunteer to paint, fix and help with overall maintenance of buildings.
Maintenance is really a big need as skill are limited.

Development
We are busy building 3 church buildings who are in different stages, as well as completing a school building in Gitega.
Other schools are planned in different parts of Burundi. The schools will give us the opportunity to invest God’s reconciliation at a very young age.
Also we have a brick machine and you can join the team making bricks for the Church and School buildings.

Resource Training Centre The resource training centre was birthed out of a dire
need for material for pastors and church leaders to go deeper into the understanding of God’s word.
To answer this need we have started the fist such canters in Gitega. The resources for the leaders and pastors helps facilitate preparing sermons studying etc.
Resources needed are e.g. – Study Bibles, Greek and Hebrew dictionaries in French and English. Also computers, printers, and Bible study software.

The Invitation
God said to Abraham, leave your house, leave your country and go, I will show you! (Gen12:1-3)
Jesus said go to all the nations and I will be with you! (Matt 28:20)
We will welcome your visit in teams of 12 or less . Possibly consider taking 3 days of your vist to see the beautiful country of Burundi and visit the National parks and Lake Tanyinika. Contact us and we can start making arrangements for your 2 week visit which will change your life!
