Drawing on a

WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE

to meet client’s future needs

Building on Years of Packaging Excellence for the Food Services Industry

1981 - From Humble Beginnings

Delta Print Limited was established in 1981 by local entrepreneur Terry Cross, above a corner grocery store in Belfast to manufacture business cards, letter headed paper and local civil service forms. From these humble origins, the business grew into a 5,000 sq ft workshop and then into a purpose-built 17,000 sq ft factory in West Belfast through the development of its commercial printing operations before recognising the opportunities available in the printed packaging sector in 1990.

1994 - Supplying Demand

By 1994, EN:ISO 9002 accreditation had been gained and high demand for folding cartons prefaced a move to Delta’s current site in 1995. Initially occupying half of a purchased 90,000 sq ft facility, further expansion in 2000 brought total factory space to 145,000 sq ft, utilised for production and warehousing.

2001 - Expanding Into New Markets2001 saw the establishment of Delta Print & Packaging’s JV in Peoples Republic of China (Huabei Delta Print & Packaging Limited), closely followed by starting Fancypak in 2003 North East of Beijing.

In 2004, Delta Packaging gained BRC/IOP accreditation, successfully maintained since then.

2011 - Sustainable Growth

In 2011 Delta validated its operational sustainability credentials by achieving accreditation in Environmental Standard EN:ISO 14001 for the NI factory activities.

FLEXOGRAPHIC PRINTING & CONVERTING FACILITY

55,000sq ft of new investment in Belfast

Delta’s production capabilities in Belfast have recently been expanded to include a new 55,000 sq ft facility housing one of Europe’s most advanced carton manufacturing environments.

In 2014, Delta’s core production and administration base has been significantly enhanced with the completion of an additional 55,000 sq ft production development. The new building houses the latest Hi-Definition rotary flexographic CI press with bespoke downstream obverse and reverse functional barrier coating capability (running reel-to-reel). It is teamed with both rotary die-cutting and large format platen options, giving ultimate flexibility in conjunction with high-speed productivity.

Fully automated colour and register controls are integrated into the production set up. Finishing options for both high speed flat-folded cartons and a new set up for nested clamshell are fed from the new flexo line.

Combined with recent enhancements to the Company’s existing sheet-fed lithographic plant, these investments keep Delta at the forefront of innovative carton manufacturing in Europe.

Making an impact through

INNOVATION & INVESTMENT

We’re continually updating resources and approach to meet our customers’ most

pressing challenges

An overview of our investment plans for the coming years…

Increased Capacity, Benchmark Production

Our 2014 expansion of manufacturing facilites in Belfast encompasses a 55,000 sq ft hi-def rotary flexo site as well as significant enhancement of the Company’s Lithographic production factory. Further capital expenditure is earmarked for 2015-2017 to ensure that Delta remains at the forefront of innovative carton design, manufacturing and supply in Europe.

Manufacturing in Poland

Our production expansion in Poland is based on a need to broaden our geographical reach with existing pan-European customers and bring supply chain comfort to these and new customers. The new design, testing and R&D development capabilities in Belfast will be used to drive innovation forward from all manufacturing sites.

Research & Development Focus

Core to Delta’s expansion strategy is further roll-out of its unique, water-based functional barriers and coatings technology, already commercialised through

Western Europe. Bespoke investment in specialist application and drying technology puts Delta in a unique position in the converting industry to offer exciting performance enhancements and specialist finishes into the folding carton segment. This next generation of sustainable coatings can be applied in line at both sites, bring cost control back to the packaging conversion point and allowing flexible results tailored to specific customer needs across the single-use food packaging, pet food and detergent sectors in Europe.

Sustainable Growth & Value

The complexities for todays responsible carton manufacturer involve achieving a delicate balance of compliance with current and future legislations, sustainable design and operations, production efficiency and waste minimisation, increased recycling/reuse as well as quality, service and price. For our partners who demand a ‘total value’ service relationship, we aim to continue with our energetic growth, cost reduction and process leadership strategies in conjunction with resourcing the search for new, safe and desirable packaging solutions that support those customer’s brands.
