    Overcoming our Worries

Worry is one of many unpleasant emotions which has significant health implication; a major negativeimpact on people s spiritual, physical and mental health. In other words it impacts the wholeness of our

being. It carries with it close relations such as depression, anxiety, self-harm (the practice of injuringyourself, especially by cutting, in order to relieve emotional distress) and suicide.

It is said be the most common mental disorder in Britain. WHO forecast that by 2020 depression will bethe second leading contribution to the global burden of disease (the concept use to measure the impactof health problem on the quality of life). Hence, the substantial negative contribution it gives to totalhealth maintenance and well- being. Upon close consideration of numerous statistical findings inrelation to worry, depression and anxiety as to our well-being, we can summarily conclude that they rubus of the quality life God gave us to enjoy- Gen.1:26; 3John 2; 2Peter 1:3; John 10:10; John 3:16.

Overcoming worries is part of the redemptive package of the cross for every believer- 1 John 5:4; 1John3:8). That means the cure for worr y is included in the scripture (Gods Word) . This package settlesour future and demands that we stop worrying about it.

Therefore take no thought for the morrow For the morrow shall take thought for theThings of itself. Sufficient unto the day is theEvil thereof . Matt. 6:34

There are enough challenges each day carries that focusing on the days that have not yet come(tomorrow) or has expired (past) interferes with our life and burdens it so much so that it becomesdifficult to make the best use of each present day God gives us as a gift, thus worry destroys our abilityto concentrate. Therefore in order to escape the gripping and painful claws of worry with its attendanteffects on the quality of our life, Jesus prescribed a daily quality living; focusing on the challenges of each day. Somebo dy said, there is no future, today is our future. The only way to effectively prepare fortomorrow is to concentrate on doing todays work effectively.

Every day is a new life to a wise man.

This is the day which the Lord has made; weWill rejoice and be glad in it. Ps 118:24

Live each day per time and stop stressing your life with the burden of yesterday and tomorrow. There

are three compartments in our lives: yesterday, today and tomorrow (future); in order to live a happylife we must shut down the first and last compartment- shut tightly the door of yesterday andtomorrow. The best you can do about your yesterday is to learn from it and move on with your life.Irrespective of what is hunting you from the past, the consequences have been paid for- Romans 8:1.

It is pertinent to note that Jesus didnt advocate a life without planning he commands us to plan our lifewithout worrying or getting anxious about what the future holds.

Causes of worry and what to do about it.

    1. When we use events or outcomes in our life to judge who we are and what we are capable of doing.Stop digging out your past for the mistakes and sins that God had thrown into the sea of forgetfulness.Micah 7:18-19.If God chooses to cast our past into the depth of the sea then dont put your past back into your heart

live it there in the depths where they are. You are free now; move on with your life. Romans 8:1; 2Corinthian 5:21; 1 Corinthians 1:30.

    2. When we cause past failures to obscure our mind about what we are capable of doing and doingright. Our perspective is an invaluable tool in putting failure in its place less it affects our life. JohnMaxwell suggests that we fail forward and never backward. Failure should always be seen as an eventand not our nature. It is simply the way and method of not doing what we are doing in order to achieveour goal Prov. 4:18 we are not failures, we are born to win.

    3. When we stop trusting God s word concerning our lives. The thorns of every challenge has ability tochok e the seed of Gods word and promises spoken concerning us, if we fail to put problems in their

places. Why do you care about what people say about you instead of Gods declaration concerning yourlife. The Hebrew boys refused to worry about the furnace of fire promised them by their captor becausethey absolutely trust God for his ability to deliver them from all kinds of trouble. Dan. 3:17

    4. When we build our treasure in things of the world that are temporal and vulnerable.Wherever your treasure is your heart follows. Let kingdom consciousness permeates through everyendeavor and activity we engage in. Invest your time in kingdom matters then you build for yourself treasures that are not subject to earthly problems and challenges. Matthew 6:19-21.

In conclusion, worry never and will never produce a desirable result so why WORRY. TRUST God more, enjoy your life. Life is too short not be enjoyed. Put God always at the heart of everything you do.

It is a great month and SHALOM!
