WELCOME TO OVERLAKE’S BANDAGE BALL! Thank you for being our guests for this evening of fun and inspiration.

This year, we are shining a spotlight on an issue that is too often hidden, yet touches us all: mental health. It’s surprising to know that here on the Eastside, despite an abundance of high quality medical care, we do not have enough mental health services to meet the rising need. Every day, dozens of severely mentally ill people wait for treatment in King County emergency rooms—many at Overlake. Access to outpatient care is in short supply. With one in four people suffering from mental illness—maybe someone you love— the stakes are high.

That’s why we are asking for your support this evening. For close to 50 years, Overlake has played a critical role as a leading provider of compassionate, comprehensive mental health care. You may not know that Overlake is the only hospital inpatient provider on the Eastside. It also has the fifth largest number of inpatient psychiatric admissions in Washington and is the only hospital on the Eastside offering outpatient services for adults. Overlake’s continuum of services is the gold standard, leading to better outcomes, faster recovery and a quicker return to daily life.

Proceeds from Bandage Ball will support increased access to care by strengthening and expanding our programs, helping Overlake develop an Eastside system of care by more fully integrating psychiatric services with primary care, and allowing us to expand our community education programming. We hope you will give generously.

Thank you.

Thank you again to everyone who supported Overlake’s Cancer Center Campaign at last year’s Bandage Ball. You helped raise $1 million to help create an innovative new Cancer Center for our Eastside community.

Thanks in part to such a strong showing of community support, we are now planning an even larger and more comprehensive Center that will more fully carry out our vision of providing the very best in traditional, personalized and integrative services in one convenient facility.

CANCERCENTERCAMPAIGNUPDATE

In the past year, we have continued to drive forward with developing our programs and services in anticipation of the new Center. For example, we’ve added lung cancer screening, breast reconstruction, and integrated psychiatric and nutritional services, while expanding medical oncology services and increasing participation in clinical trials. Planning is on track for construction to begin in spring 2016 and be complete in spring 2017.

As of going to print, we have raised $6.2 million toward our $10 million goal, and are in the final stretch of the campaign. If you have not yet made your contribution or would like to make an additional gift, please go to www.overlakehospital.org/overlakecampaign or call us at 425-688-5525.
