Conterm Inc., which owns andoperates two modern, computer-controlled inland container depots inMontreal and Toronto, has opened anew 12-acre terminal in Houston.

The Houston facility, situated at1222 McCarty Drive, is just a milefrom the nearest marine terminal in theUnited States’ third busiest port.

"Conterm (Texas) Inc. now offerscontainer owners who operate in theGulf the use of our multi-purposedepot, providing the same standard ofservice our Canadian customers havecome to expect. The Texas depot will be managed byTom Kenyon, who has had extensiveexperience in the industry.

The M/V KAPITAN SMIRNOV, a vessel ofBaltic Shipping Company flying the Russianflag, made her first call to the Port of Houstonrecently. The vessel, which is the largest Ro/Roship in the Russian fleet, measured 749 feetlong by 98 feet wide. The vessel was in Houstonto load a steam generating plant going toLeningrad.
