Starting a Revolution! Why Hope Plants Churches
What does the Bible say about Church Planting?
What does the Bible say about Church Planting?
John 20:21Again Jesus said,
“Peace be with you!As the Father has sent me,
I am sending you.”
What does the Bible say about Church Planting?
Acts 8:1b-4a1On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. 2Godly men
buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. 3But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison. 4
Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.
What does the Bible say about Church Planting?
Acts 9:1aMeanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats
against the Lord’s disciples.
What does the Bible say about Church Planting?
Acts 13:1-3In the church at Antioch there were prophets and
teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called
them.” 3 So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.
What does the Bible say about Church Planting?
1 Corinthians 3:5-65What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only
servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6I planted the seed,
Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.
What does the Bible say about Church Planting?
Titus 1:5The reason I left you in Crete was that you might
straighten out what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.
What does the Bible say about Church Planting?
Romans 15:17-2017Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God. 18I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done— 19by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So
from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. 20It has always been my
ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s
foundation.
“The single most effective evangelistic methodology under
heaven isplanting new churches.”
~ C. Peter Wagner, “Church Planting For a Greater Harvest,” Page 7.
The vigorous, continual planting of new congregations is the single most crucial strategy for 1) the numerical growth of the Body of Christ in any city, and 2) the continual corporate renewal and revival of the existing
churches in a city. Nothing else--not crusades, outreach programs, para-church ministries, growing mega-
churches, congregational consulting, nor church renewal processes--will
have the consistent impact of dynamic, extensive church planting. This is an eyebrow raising statement.
But to those who have done any study at all,
it is not even controversial.
~ Tim Keller, Why Plant Churches (Redeemer Church publication)
“Christianity has always expanded through the multiplication of churches. The Book of Acts records how the boundaries of the Christian faith were pushed to the uttermost parts of the world through the multiplication of new churches. To this day, throughout every generation, Christianity has extended to new areas and new peoples
via the multiplication of new churches.”
~ Robert Logan
“[New] Churches worth their salt aren't parasites on existing churches. They reach believers who dropped out of church years ago. They reach people who don't really
know the Lord. They reach children who have never gone to Sunday school in their lives. They reach the lost.”

Romans 15:20-21:
20 and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else's foundation, 21 but as it is written,
“Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”
Our Vision:Revolutionizing our city by helping
people
encounter Jesus in a life-changing way, to the glory of God.
Our Mission:Declaring the Gospel of Jesus Christ
in the fullness of its saving, sanctifying, and satisfying power.
Core Values:Head - Heart - Hands
Teaching the truth of the Gospel
(Deut. 6:1-9; Mark 4:1-20; Luke 21:13-35; John 8:32, 14:6; Acts 17:16-34; Rom. 8:1-11, 10:14, 11:33-12:2; 1
Cor. 2:14-16; Eph. 1:3-14)
Romans 10:8-15:
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth
that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with
the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his
riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are
they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who
preach the good news!”
Teaching the Truth of the Gospel
(Deut. 6:1-9; Mark 4:1-20; Luke 21:13-35; John 8:32, 14:6; Acts 17:16-34; Rom. 8:1-11, 10:14, 11:33-12:2; 1 Cor. 2:14-
16; Eph. 1:3-14)
Worshiping in Response to the Gospel
(Gen. 1:26-2:1; Ps. 27:4, 63; Isa. 53:1-12; John 3:16-18; Rom. 1:18-30, 3:21-26, 5:1-11, 10:15; Gal. 2:20; Eph. 1-10;
Col. 1:15-20)
Romans 11:33-12:2:
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his
judgments and how inscrutable his ways!34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”35 “Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?”36 For from him and through him and to him are all
things. To him be glory forever. Amen.12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies
of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual
worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by
testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Teaching the Truth of the Gospel
Living transformed lives by the Gospel
(Jer. 29:4-7; Mt. 5:14-16; Luke 19:10; John 13:1-15, 14:12-14; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Cor. 3:5-9; Heb. 10:23-25; Jas. 2:14-26)
Matthew 5:14-16:
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
And
Matthew 28:18-20:
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go
therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you
always, to the end of the age.”
