On 7 December, 2016, an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale shook the districts of Pidie Jaya Aceh Indonesia at 5:03:36 pm West Indonesia Time The epicenter was at of Pidie Jaya, Aceh, Indonesia, at 5:03:36 pm West Indonesia Time. The epicenter was at coordinates 96.24 5.25 LU and BT, precisely on the ground at a distance of 18 kilometers southeast of Sigli, Pidie and 2 kilometers north Meureudu, Pidie Jaya, at a depth of 15 km.
