Power sources used in Aeromodelling
Generally two types ofcontinuous power sourcesare used in aeromodelling
Electricity fromrechargeable batteriesand
IC engines.
Except the above powersources rubber bandpowered and compressedair powered models arealso very popular.

Rechargeable Batteries
Rechargeable batteries andElectronic Speed Controller (ESC)are used to drive motors of a modelaircraft. Two different types of batteriesare used in aeromodelling.
1 Ni-MH batteries, cell voltage is1.2 V, in series connection of 8 to9 cells are generally used.
2 Lithium-Polymer batteries, cellvoltage is 3.7 V.
In recent years Li Po batteries are more popular in aeromodellingbecause of less wight and faster discharge rate.

A Few Thumb Rules for Model Making
1 Wing aspect ratio (b2/S) should be within 6 to 7.5.
2 Fuselage length 2.5 to 4 times wing chord.
3 Horizontal tail area 18-22 % of wing area.
4 Horizontal tail aspect ratio 3 to 5.
5 Vertical tail area 8 to 12 % of wing area.
6 Vertical tail aspect ratio 1.5 to 3.
7 Initially, Wing incidence may be within 00 to 20.
8 Provide dihedral of 00 to 20.
9 Horizontal tail plane incidence angle may be 00 to −30.
10 Make the thirst line about 00 to 20 downward.
