“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. Elder: Our Father in heaven, we come before You now confessing our sin.
Congregation: We acknowledge that we have fallen short of Your glory. We have not loved You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength; nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves.
Elder: In Your great wisdom and love, You have brought us together to be Your holy people.
Congregation: We have missed opportunities to show Your love to each other. We have failed to encourage each other to love and obey You.
Elder: Help us to repent from our individualistic tendencies.
Congregation: You have united us to each other in Christ. Give us deeper bonds of love and affection for Your church.
All: Holy Spirit, hear our prayer and mature us to greater faithfulness to You, and love for one another. Amen.
The Holy Spirit assures us: “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.” In Christ, our trespasses have been forgiven. Amen.
