1. Introduction

R6 link detection is to detect whether the link between BS and ASN-GW

is alive.

Purpose of R6 link detection is to improve fault detection capability of

WiMAX network solution, help release the related resources of the

ASN-GW in time to prevent resource hang-up, enhance the network

reliability, and disconnect calls in time to prevent over-long UDRs.

1. Introduction

R6 interface includes control plane and user plane. Control plane and

user plane are independent in BS, so link detection is supported for

both planes. One BS might have more than one user plane IP address

(currently up to three).

GW supports up to 2000 link detection objects, including user plane IP

and control plane IP.

GW support bi-directional R6 link detection, that is, BS can initiate link

detection towards GW and GW also can initiate link detection towards

BS.

Link detections on control plane and user plane are independent to detect

whether links on signaling path and user data path are normal.

Condition to start link detection on control plane is that LBS information is

configured and link detect switch is ON; Condition to stop link detection on

control plane is that the last LBS of a BTS is delete or configured and link

detect switch is turned OFF.

Condition to start link detection on user plane is that the BTS has active user

sessions and link detect switch is ON; Condition to stop link detection on user

plane is that the active user sessions of BTS become 0 or link detect switch is

turned OFF.

1. When link becomes faulty, alarm "Failed R6 link heartbeat check" will

be generated on LMT and M2000 maintenance terminals.

2. Based on configuration, GW determines whether to deactivate users:

a. if link fault operation is DEAUSER, GW will deactivate users

b. if link fault operation is NONE, GW will take no actions.

3. GW continues to detect the faulty link to check whether link fault is

recovered.

1. When link fault is recovered, if relevant alarm exists, GW will clear

the alarm;

2. If task to deactivate users is not completed yet, then GW will

continue to deactivate users who is active before link became faulty;

3. When link becomes normal, GW will continue link detection.

4. Configuration

• Set the R6 link detection switch

• 1. Set the R6 link detection switch for a particular BTS

• ADD BTS: INDEX=1, BTSIP="192.168.0.149", NAME="test", CFLAG=ON, UFLAG=ON;By default, detection is switched off.

• 2. Modify the R6 link detection switch for a BTS

• MOD BTS: INDEX=1, CFLAG=ON, UFLAG=OFF;

• SET R6LNKSW: CFLAG=ON, UFLAG=ONNotes: SET R6LNKSW is an action command and will not appear in MML configuration file.

• To set the R6 detection parameters of the SPUs whose logical board number is 3.

-Link detection mode is slow detection; -Durations of both control-plane and user-plane periodical detection are 300 seconds; -Durations of control-plane fast detection of both control-plane and user-plane are 5 seconds;-Numbers of times for both control-plane and user-plane fast detection are 3;-Number of times for fault confirmation is 5; -Number of times for fault confirmation is 5-Number of times for fault clearance is 3; -the link fault operation is deactivating users; -the DP ID fault is not reported to the BS.

• SET R6LNKDET: BN=3, TYPE=SLOW, TIMERCC=300, TIMERUC=300, TIMERCP=5, TIMERUP=5, COUNTCN=3, COUNTUN=3, TIMERFP=5, COUNTFN=5, COUNTFM=3, ACTION=DEAUSER, DPIDRPT=OFF;
