Dear Supporter:
On the occasion of The Roxy Theatre’s 100th anniversary, a significant Centennial Renewal Project is underway. It will fundamentally transform
Owen Sound and set the stage for permanent sustainability for Owen Sound Li/le Theatre. To bring this dream to fruion, we need your help.
Beginning this February, despite this cold and snowy winter, construcon will begin to refurbish our aging and damaged historical building.
This project has been in the works for more than two years, and we have raised $185,000 through grants and fundraising. Addionally, OSLT is
contribung as much as $75,000 to the project from our reserve fund.
The project went to tender in January, and despite our very best efforts and careful planning, all of the tenders came back above our available
budget. However, we remain commi/ed to moving forward with the build project now otherwise we will lose $87,000 in crucial Federal funding if
we have not substanally completed our project by April 1, 2014. We are short of our fundraising target by $20,000.
Welcome to OSLT’s X’s and O’s campaign, an iniave that requires only FOUR special people in order to be successful. Four people who have
someone extraordinary to honour in perpetuity; or, four people who have a business they want to have a significant presence in the downtown, with
opportunies for daily reminders to the community of their generosity; or, four people who have someone special in their lives that they would like to
give a lasng gi= to - a public acknowledgement of their affecon or respect that will linger in our community for the rest of their lives.
Over the next six weeks, we will erect four le/ers near the top of our historical building: R, O, X and Y. These le/ers, prominently lit and illuminang the
night me sky, will be seen from the 10th Street hill. These le/ers will be a daily fixture in the lives of the residents who live and work downtown, as
well as a prominent feature to those vising our region. These le/ers will be front and centre to 30,000 patrons who visit our cultural centre each year.
For a donaon to our charitable organizaon of $5,000, you could “own” a le/er on the historical Roxy Theatre. You could be one of The Roxy’s
philanthropic “Fab Four.” For your donaon, you will receive a full tax receipt, a specialized, classic plaque for you to display personally, or to give to
your loved one (see the next page for details), and significant prominence on our acknowledgement plaque to be affixed to the front of our building in
perpetuity. Most importantly, you will know that your contribuon allowed Owen Sound Li/le Theatre to reach its goals, fulfil its dreams, and connue
to serve the community’s cultural needs for decades to come.
We have enclosed our Centennial Renewal Fundraising Package for you to review. We will have a finalized drawing available in the coming weeks,
and we invite you to contact us to discuss the possibilies about working together to help make our dream come true.
Thank you for your consideraon and your generosity.

What Are the Key Elements of the Centennial Renewal Project?
• Bring back charm to our historic 1913 theatre and honour our cultural centre’s achievements
• Serve as a key anchor in the downtown core’s much needed revitalizaon and renewal
• Soundproof and insulate the south east corner of the theatre to increase patron comfort and allow The Roxy to expand summer
programming without risk of sound-bleed from the adjoining outdoor pao
• Remove unsightly graffi on the rear and side walls of the theatre
• Create an original mural on the rear wall in cooperaon with the Tom Thomson Art Gallery
• Upgrade electrical and relocate unsightly street-facing HVAC motors and condensers
• Repair decaying front door frames, refurbish The Roxy’s entrance and insulate porons of the lobby for increased patron comfort
• Install two high-quality, four-colour LED marquees safely controlled from inside the building
• Create new signage and LED lighng to reduce costs and our environmental footprint
• Fix an ongoing water drainage issue at the front doors of the theatre
• Create a plaque honouring the project and its supporters to be displayed in perpetuity
• Create a rear entrance at the back door where the primary parking exists for the community
• Repair cracked, deteriorang and damaged façade, repaint and insulate
• Shorten the depth and widen the length of the canopy in front of the theatre to stop vehicular
collisions by delivery trucks, causing numerous public safety concerns
• Install energy-efficient LED lighng in the refaced canopy and throughout building exterior
• Create a street-level gate at recessed loading doors to discourage crime and increase safety
• Install compelling street-level signage and upper level signage J. James Collecon
