If this Craftsman Lawn Mower fails due to manufacturer defects in material or

workmanship within two years from the date of purchase, return it to any Sears store,Parts & Repair Center or other Craftsman outlet for free repair (or replacement if repairproves impossible).

This warranty applies for only 90 days from the date of purchase if this Lawn Mower isever used for commercial or rental purposes.

This warranty does not cover:

• Expendable items that become worn during normal use, such as rotary mowerblades, blade adapters, belts, air cleaners and spark plug.

IoGENERAL OPERATION• Read, understand,and follow all

instructionson the machineand in themanual(s)before starting. Be thoroughlyfamiliarwith the controls and the properuseof the machinebefore starting.

• Do not put hands or feet near or underrotatingparts. Keep clear of the dis-charge opening at all times.

• Only allow responsible individuals,whoare familiarwith the instructions, to oper-ate the machine.

• Clear the area of objects such as rocks,toys, wire, bones, sticks, etc., whichcould be picked up and thrown by blade.Be sure the area is clear of other peoplebefore mowing. Stop machine if anyoneenters the area.

Do not operate the mower when bare-foot or wearing open sandals. Alwayswear substantial foot wear.

Do not pull mower backwards unlessabsolutely necessary. Always look downand behind before and while movingbackwards.

• Never direct discharged material towardanyone. Avoid discharging materialagainst a wall or obstruction. Materialmay richochet back toward the opera-tor. Stop the blade when crossing gravelsurfaces.

• Do not operate the mower withoutproper guards, plates, grass catcher orother safety protective devices in place.

• See manufacturer's instructions forproper operation and installation ofaccessories. Only use accessories ap-proved by the manufacturer.

• Stop the blade(s) when crossing graveldrives, walks, or roads.

• Stop the engine (motor) whenever youleave the equipment, before cleaning themower or unclogging the chute.

• Shut the engine (motor) off and wait untilthe blade comes to complete stop beforeremoving grass catcher.

• Mow only in daylight or good artificiallight.

• Do not operate the machine while underthe influence of alcohol or drugs.

• Never operate machine in wet grass.Always be sure of your footing: keep afirm hold on the handle; walk, never run.

• Disengage the self-propelled mech-anism or drive clutch on mowers so

equipped before starting the engine.• If the equipment should start to vibrate

abnormally, stop the engine (motor) andcheck immediately for the cause. Vibra-tion is generally a warning of trouble.

• Always wear safety goggles or safetyglasses with side shields when operatingmower.

il, SLOPE OPERATION

Slopes are a major factor related to slip &fall accidents which can result in severe in-

jury. All slopes require extra caution. If youfeel uneasy on a slope, do not mow it.DO:

• Mow across the face of slopes: neverup and down. Exercise extreme cautionwhen changing direction on slopes.

• Remove obstacles such as rocks, treelimbs, etc.

• Watch for holes, ruts, or bumps. Tallgrass can hide obstacles.

DO NOT:

• Do not trim near drop-offs, ditches orembankments. The operator could losefooting or balance.

• Do not trim excessively steep slopes.• Do not mow on wet grass. Reduced foot-

ing could cause slipping.

i11. CHILDREN

Tragic accidents can occur if the operatoris not alert to the presence of children.Children are often attracted to the machine

and the mowing activity. Never assumethat children will remain where you lastsaw them.

• Keep children out of the trimming areaand under the watchful care of another

responsible adult.• Be alert and turn machine off if children

enter the area.

• Before and while walking backwards,look behind and down for small children.

• Never allow children to operate the ma-chine.

• Use extra care when approaching blindcorners, shrubs, trees, or other objectsthat may obscure vision.

IV. SAFE HANDLING OF GASOLINE

Use extreme care in handling gasoline.Gasoline is extremely flammable and thevapors are explosive.• Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes

and other sources of ignition.• Use only an approved container.• Never remove gas cap or add fuel with

the engine running. Allow engine to coolbefore refueling.

• Never refuel the machine indoors.• Never store the machine or fuel contain-

er where there is an open flame, sparkor pilot light such as a water heater or onother appliances.

• Never fill containers insidea vehicle, ona truck or trailer bed with a plastic liner.Always place containerson the groundaway from yourvehicle before filling.

• Removegas-poweredequipmentfromthe truck or trailer and refuel it on theground. If this is not possible, thenrefuel such equipmentwith a portablecontainer, rather than from a gasolinedispenser nozzle.

• Keep the nozzle in contactwith the rimof the fuel tank or containeropening atall times until fueling is complete. Donot use a nozzle lock-opendevice.

• If fuel is spilled on clothing,changeclothing immediately.

• Never overfill fuel tank. Replacegascap and tighten securely.

V. GENERAL SERVICE• Never run a machine insidea closed

area.• Never makeadjustmentsor repairswith

the engine (motor) running.Disconnectthe spark plugwire, and keep the wireaway from the plug to prevent accidentalstarting.

• Keep nuts and bolts, especially bladeattachment bolts, tight and keep equip-ment in good condition.

• Never tamper with safety devices. Checktheir proper operation regularly.

• Keep machine free of grass, leaves, orother debris build-up. Clean oil or fuelspillage. Allow machine to cool beforestoring.

• Stop and inspect the equipment if youstrike an object. Repair, if necessary,before restarting.

• Never attempt to make wheel heightadjustments while the engine is running.

• Grass catcher components are subjectto wear, damage, and deterioration,which could expose moving parts orallow objects to be thrown. Frequentlycheck components and replace withmanufacturer's recommended parts,when necessary.

• Mower blades are sharp and can cut.Wrap the blade(s) or wear gloves, anduse extra caution when servicing them.

• Do not change the engine governor set-ting or overspeed the engine.

• Maintain or replace safety and instruc-tion labels, as necessary.

Read these instructions and this manual in its entirety before you attempt to assembleor operate your new lawn mower.IMPORTANT: This lawn mower is shipped WITHOUT OIL OR GASOLINE in the engine.Your new lawn mower has been assembled at the factory with the exception of thoseparts left unassembled for shipping purposes. All parts such as nuts, washers, bolts, etc.,necessary to complete the assembly have been placed in the parts bag. To ensure safeand proper operation of your lawn mower, all parts and hardware you assemble must betightened securely. Use the correct tools as necessary to ensure proper tightness.

TO REMOVE MOWER FROM CARTON1. Remove loose parts included with Handle

mower, bracket2. Cut down two end corners of carton

and lay end panel down flat.3. Remove all packing materials except

padding between upper and lowerhandle and padding holding operatorpresence control bar to upper handle. Knob

4. Roll lawn mower out of carton and

check carton thorougly for additionalloose parts.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR MOWER

TO UNFOLD HANDLE

IMPORTANT: Unfold handle carefully soas not to pinch or damage control cables.1. Raise lower handle section to operating

position and align hole in handle with oneof three height positioning holes.

2. Insert handle bolt through handle andbracket and secure with knob.

3. Repeat for opposite side of handle.4. Remove protective padding, raise up-

per handle section into place on lowerhandle and tighten both handle knobs.

5. Remove any packing material fromaround control bar.

Your lawn mower handle can be adjustedfor your mowing comfort. Refer to "AD-JUST HANDLE" in the Service and Adjust-ments section of this manual.

Operator presence control bar = mustbe held down to the handle to start the

engine. Release to stop the engine.Starter handle = used for starting engine.

Mulcher door = allows conversion to

discharging or bagging operation.Drive control lever = used to engagepower-propelled forward motion of mower.

Engine speed was set at the factory foroptimum performance. It is not adjustable.

DRIVE CONTROL ADJUSTMENT

Over time, the drive control system maybecome "loose", resulting in decreasedspeed. There is a turnbuckle on the drivecontrol housing to increase tension on thedrive cable. Proceed as follows:

1. Turn unit off and disconnect spark plugwire from spark plug.

2. Rotate turnbuckle on drive control to

increase drive speed.3. Operate mower to test drive speed.

Readjust as required.4. If condition fails to improve after the

above steps (forward speed remainsthe same), your drive belt is worn andshould be replaced.

ENGINE ZONE CONTROL

_CAUTION: Federal regulations requirean engine control to be installed on thislawn mower in order to minimize the

risk of blade contact injury. Do not underany circumstances attempt to defeat thefunction of the operator control. The bladeturns when the engine is running.• Your lawn mower is equipped with an

operator presence control bar whichrequires the operator to be positionedbehind the lawn mower handle to start

and operate the lawn mower.

DRIVE CONTROL

• Self-propelling is controlled by hold-ing the operator presence control bardown to the handle and pulling the drivecontrol lever rearward to the handle.The farther toward the handle the lever

is pulled, the faster the unit will travel.• Forward motion will stop when either

the operator presence control bar ordrive control lever are released. To stopforward motion without stopping engine,release the drive control lever only. Holdoperator presence control bar downagainst handle to continue mowingwithout self-propelling.

NOTE: If after releasing the drive controlthe mower will not roll backwards, pushthe mower forward slightly to disengagedrive wheels.

Raise wheels for low cut and lower wheels

for high cut, adjust cutting height to suityour requirements. Medium position isbest for most lawns.

• To change cutting height, squeeze ad-juster lever toward wheel. Move wheelup or down to suit your requirements. Besure all wheels are in the same setting.

NOTE: Adjuster is properly positionedwhen plate tab inserts into hole in lever.Also, 9-position adjusters (if so equipped)allow lever to be positioned between theplate tabs.

BEFORE STARTING ENGINE

ADD OIL

Your lawnmower is shipped without oil inthe engine. For type and grade of oil touse, see "ENGINE" in the Maintenancesection of this manual.

CAUTION: DO NOT overfill engine withoil, or it will smoke heavily from the muffleron startup.1. Be sure lawnmower is level.

2. Remove oil dipstick from oil fill spout.3. You receive a container of oil with the

unit. Slowly pour the entire containerdown the oil fill spout into the engine.

NOTE: Initial oil fill requires only 18 oz.due to residual oil in engine from themanufacturers 100% quality testing. Whenchanging oil you may need 20 oz.4. Insert and tighten dipstick.IMPORTANT:• Check oil level before each use. Add oil

if needed. Fill to full line on dipstick.• Change the oil after every 25 hours of

operation or each season. You mayneed to change the oil more oftenunder dusty, dirty conditions. See "TOCHANGE ENGINE OIL" in the Mainte-nance section of this manual.

ADD GASOLINE

• Fill fuel tank to bottom of tank filler neck.

Do not overfill. Use fresh, clean, regularunleaded gasoline with a minimum of87 octane. Do not mix oil with gasoline.Purchase fuel in quantities that can beused within 30 days to assure fuel fresh-ness.

A CAUTION: Wipe off any spilled oil orfuel. Do not store, spill or use gasolinenear an open flame._i, CAUTION: Alcohol blended fuels

(called gasohol or using ethanol or metha-nol) can attract moisture which leads toseparation and formation of acids duringstorage. Acidic gas can damage the fuelsystem of an engine while in storage. Toavoid engine problems, the fuel systemshould be emptied before storage of 30days or longer. Empty the gas tank, startthe engine and let it run until the fuel linesand carburetor are empty. Use fresh fuelnext season. See Storage Instructions foradditional information. Never use engineor carburetor cleaner products in the fueltank or permanent damage may occur.

• To stop engine, release operator pres-ence control bar.

TO START ENGINE

NOTE: Due to protective coatings on theengine, a small amount of smoke may bepresent during the initial use of the productand should be considered normal.

NOTE: Your engine is equipped with anautomatic choke system. No priming orchoking is required before starting.• To start engine, hold operator presence

control bar down to the handle and pullstarter handle quickly. Do not allowstarter rope to snap back.

MOWING TIPS& CAUTION: Do not use de-thatcher

blade attachments on your mower. Suchattachments are hazardous, will damageyour mower and could void your warranty.

• Under certain conditions, such as verytall grass, it may be necessary to raisethe height of cut to reduce pushing effortand to keep from overloading the engineand leaving clumps of grass clippings.It may also be necessary to reduceground speed and/or run the lawnmower over the area a second time.

• For extremely heavy cutting, reduce thewidth of cut by overlapping previouslycut path and mow slowly.

• For better grass bagging and most cut-ting conditions, the engine speed shouldbe set in the FAST position.

• Pores in cloth grass catchers canbecome filled with dirt and dust with use

and catchers will collect less grass. Toprevent this, regularly hose catcher offwith water and let dry before using.

• Keep top of engine around starter clearand clean of grass clippings and chaff.This will help engine air flow and extendengine life.

MULCHING MOWING TIPS

IMPORTANT: For best performance,keep mower housing free of built-upgrass and trash. See "CLEANING" in theMaintenance section of this manual.

• The special mulching blade will recutthe grass clippings many times andreduce them in size so that as they fallonto the lawn they will disperse intothe grass and not be noticed. Also, themulched grass will biodegrade quicklyto provide nutrients for the lawn. Alwaysmulch with your highest engine (blade)speed as this will provide the best recut-ting action of the blades.

• Avoid cutting your lawn when it is wet.Wet grass tends to form clumps andinterferes with the mulching action. Thebest time to mow your lawn is the earlyafternoon. At this time the grass hasdried, yet the newly cut area will not beexposed to direct sunlight.

• For best results, adjust the lawn mowercutting height so that the lawn mowercuts off only the top one-third of thegrass blades. If the lawn is overgrown itwill be necessary to raise the height ofcut to reduce pushing effort and to keepfrom overloading the engine and leavingclumps of mulched grass. For extremelyheavy grass, reduce your width of cutby overlapping previously cut path andmow slowly.

• Certain types of grass and grassconditions may require that an area bemulched a second time to completelyhide the clippings, When doing a sec-ond cut, mow across (perpendicular) tothe first cut path,

• Change your cutting pattern from weekto week, Mow north to south one week

then change to east to west the nextweek, This will help prevent matting andgraining of the lawn,

Some adjustments will need to be madeperiodically to properly maintain your unit.At least once a season, check to see ifyou should make any of the adjustmentsdescribed in the Service and Adjustmentssection of this manual.

DRIVE WHEELS

Check rear drive wheels each time before

you mow to be sure they move freely.The wheels not turning freely means trash,grass cuttings, etc. are in the drive wheelarea and must be cleaned to free drivewheels.

If necessary to clean the drive wheels, besure to clean both rear wheels.

BLADE CARE

For best results, blade must be keptsharp. Replace a bent or damaged blade._i, CAUTION: Use only a replacementblade approved by the manufacturer ofyour mower. Using a blade not approvedby the manufacturer of your mower is haz-ardous, could damage your mower andvoid your warranty.

TO REMOVE BLADE

1. Disconnect spark plug wire from sparkplug and place wire where it cannotcome in contact with plug.

2. Turn lawn mower on its side. Make

sure air filter and carburetor are up.3. Use a wood block between blade and

mower housing to prevent blade fromturning when removing blade bolt.

NOTE: Protect your hands with glovesand/or wrap blade with heavy cloth.4. Remove blade bolt by turning counter-

clockwise.

5. Remove blade & attaching hardware(bolt, lock washer & hardened washer).

TO REPLACE BLADE

1. Position blade on the blade adapteraligning the two (2) holes in the bladewith the raised lugs on the adapter.

2. Be sure the trailing edge of blade (op-posite sharp edge) is up toward theengine.

3. Install the blade bolt with the lockwasher and hardened washer into

blade adapter and crankshaft.4. Use block of wood between blade and

lawn mower housing and tighten theblade bolt, turning clockwise.

• The recommended tightening torque is35-40 ft. Ibs.

IMPORTANT: Blade bolt is heat treated.If bolt needs replacing, replace only withapproved bolt shown in the Repair Partssection of this manual.TO SHARPEN BLADE

NOTE: We do not recommend sharp-ening the blade - but if you do, be sure theblade is balanced. An unbalanced blade

will cause eventual damage to mower orengine.• The blade can be sharpened with a file

or on a grinding wheel. Do not attemptto sharpen while on the mower.

• To check blade balance, drive a nail intoa beam or wall. Leave about one inch of

the straight nail exposed. Place centerhole of blade over the head of the nail.If blade is balanced, it should remain ina horizontal position. If either end of theblade moves downward, sharpen theheavy end until the blade is balanced.

GRASS CATCHER

• The grass catcher may be hosed withwater, but must be dry when used.

• Check your grass catcher often for dam-age or deterioration. Through normaluse it will wear. If catcher needs replac-ing, replace only with approved replace-ment catcher shown in the Repair Partssection of this manual. Give the lawn

mower model number when ordering.

GEAR CASE

• To keep your drive system workingproperly, the gear case and area aroundthe drive should be kept clean and freeof trash build-up. Clean under the drivecover twice a season.

• The gear case is filled with lubricant tothe proper level at the factory. The onlytime the lubricant needs attention is if

service has been performed on the gearcase.

• If lubricant is required, use only TexacoStarplex Premium 1 Grease, Part No.750369. Do not substitute.

ENGINELUBRICATION

Use only high quality detergent oil ratedwith API service classification SG-SL.

Select the oil's SAE viscosity gradeaccording to your expected operatingtemperature.

NOTE: Before tipping lawn mower to drainoil, empty fuel tank by running engine untilfuel tank is empty.1. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark

2. Remove engine oil cap; lay aside on aclean surface.

3. Tip lawn mower on its side as shownand drain oil into a suitable container.Rock lawn mower back and forth to re-

move any oil trapped inside of engine.

4. Wipe off any spilled oil from lawnmower or side of engine.

5. Slowly pour oil down the oil fill spout,stopping every few ounces to check theoil level with the dipstick.

6. Stop adding oil when you reach theFULL mark on the dipstick. Wait aminute to allow oil to settle.

7. Continue adding small amounts of oil,rechecking the dipstick until oil levelsettles at FULL. DO NOT overfill, orengine will smoke heavily from the muf-fler on startup.

8. Always be sure to retighten oil dipstickbefore starting engine.

9. Reconnect spark plug wire to sparkplug.

AIR FILTER

Your engine will not run properly and maybe damaged by using a dirty air filter.Replace the air filter cartridge every 100hours of operation or every season, which-ever occurs first. Service air cleaner more

often under dusty conditions.TO CLEAN AIR FILTER

1. Loosen screw and tilt cover to remove.2. Carefully remove cartridge.3. Clean by gently tapping on a flat sur-_iL face. If very dirty, replace cartridge.

CAUTION: Petroleum solvents, such askerosene, are not to be used to clean car-tridge. They may cause deterioration of thecartridge. Do not oil cartridge. Do not usepressurized air to clean or dry cartridge.4. Install cartridge, then replace cover

making sure the tabs are aligned withthe slots in the back plate. Fastenscrew securely.

MUFFLER

Inspect and replace corroded muffler as itcould create a fire hazard and/or damage.

SPARK PLUG

Replace spark plug at the beginning ofeach mowing season or after every 100hours of operation, whichever occurs first.Spark plug type and gap setting are shownin the "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS"section of this manual.

CLEANING

IMPORTANT: For best performance, keepmower housing free of built-grass andtrash. Clean the underside of your mowerafter each use.

ACAUTION: Disconnect spark plug wirefrom spark plug and place wire where itcannot come in contact with plug.

• Clean the underside of your lawn mowerby scraping to remove build-up of grassand trash.

• Clean engine often to keep trash fromaccumulating. A clogged engine runshotter and shortens engine life.

• Keep finished surfaces and wheels freeof all gasoline, oil, etc.

• We do not recommend using a gardenhose to clean lawn mower unless the

electrical system, muffler, air filter andcarburetor are covered to keep waterout. Water in engine can result in short-ened engine life.

WATER WASHOUT FEATURE

Your lawn mower is equipped with a fittingthat allows quick and easy cleaning ofthe underside of the housing. To use thisfeature, proceed as follows:1. Move lawn mower to an area of cut

grass or another hard surface.NOTE: Water, grass and other debris willdrain from beneath the mower housingduring the washout process.2. Remove grass catcher and discharge

chute assembly from lawn mower.

3. Close mulcher door (if equipped).4. Connect a garden hose to the fitting

where shown.

IMPORTANT: Be sure the garden hose isnot routed under the lawn mower housingor entangled in the wheels.

5. Turn on water supply and check forleaks at the fitting.

If no leaks are present, start engine (asdescribed in the Operation section ofthis manual) and let engine run until theunderside of the lawn mower is clean.

A WARNING: Do not engage the drivesystem during the washout process.6. Shut off the engine.7. Shut off water supply and remove

hose from fitting.CAUTION: Do not remove hose from

fitting while engine is running. Water inengine can result in shortened engine life.

8. Start engine (as described in the Op-eration section of this manual) and letengine run for a full minute to removeexcess water from mower.

CLEAN UNDER DRIVE COVER

Clean under drive cover at least twice a

season. Scrape underside of cover withputty knife or similar tool to remove anybuild-up of trash or grass on underside ofdrive cover.

The rear deflector, attached between therear wheels of your mower, is provided tominimize the possibility that objects willbe thrown out of the rear of the mower

into the operator mowing position. If thedeflector becomes damaged, it should bereplaced.

TO REMOVE DRIVE BELT1. Remove drive cover.2. Remove spring and belt keeper.3. Remove belt from gearcase pulley.4. Turn lawn mower on its side with air

filter and carburetor down.5. Remove blade, engine pulley and

debris shield.6. Remove engine pulley and belt from

debris shield.

TO REPLACE DRIVE BELT

1. Place new drive belt in engine pulleyand belt retainer of debris shield.

2. Route the other end of the new drivebelt through hole in housing.

3. Reinstall debris shield.

4. Return mower to upright position.5. Install new belt on gearcase pulley.6. Reinstall belt keeper and spring.7. Reinstall drive cover.

NOTE: Always use factory approved beltto assure proper fit and long life.8. Turn lawn mower on its side with air

TO ADJUST HANDLE

Your handle has three (3) height positions- adjust to a height that suits you.1. Remove knob and carriage bolt on one

side of the lower handle.

2. While holding handle assembly,remove knob and carriage bolt fromopposite side, align hole in handle withdesired hole in handle bracket and

reassemble bolt and knob and tightensecurely.

3. Align opposite side of handle withsame positioning hole and secure withbolt and knob.

Your engine speed has been factory set. Donot attempt to increase engine speed or itmay result in personal injury. If you believethat engine is running too fast or too slow,take your mower to a Sears or other qualifiedservice center for repair and adjustment.CARBURETOR

Your carburetor is not adjustable. If yourengine does not operate properly due to sus-pected carburetor problems, take your lawnmower to a Sears or other qualified servicecenter for repair and/or adjustment.IMPORTANT: Never tamperwith the enginegovernor, which is factory set for proper en-gine speed. Overspeeding the engine abovethe factory high speed setting can be danger-ous. If you think the engine-governed highspeed needs adjusting, contact a Sears orother qualified service center, which hasproper equipment and experience to makeany necessary adjustments.

3. Reinstall knobs and carriage bolts to lowerhandle / handle brackets for safe keeping.

• When setting up your handle from thestorage position, lower handle will requiremanually locking into mowing position.

IMPORTANT: When folding the handle forstorage or transportation, be sure to foldthe handle as shown or you may damagethe control cables.

ENGINE

FUEL SYSTEM

IMPORTANT: It is important to preventgum deposits from forming in essential fuelsystem parts such as carburetor, fuel filter,fuel hose, or tank during storage. Alcoholblended fuels (called gasohol or usingethanol or methanol) can attract moisturewhich leads to separation and formation ofacids during storage. Acidic gas can damagethe fuel system of an engine while in storage.

• Empty the fuel tank by starting the en-gine and letting it run until the fuel linesand carburetor are empty.

• Never use engine or carburetor cleanerproducts in the fuel tank or permanentdamage may occur.

• Use fresh fuel next season.

NOTE: Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable al-ternative in minimizing the formation of fuelgum deposits during storage. Add stabilizerto gasoline in fuel tank or storage container.Always follow the mix ratio found on stabilizercontainer. Run engine at least 10 minutesafter adding stabilizer to allow the stabilizer toreach the carburetor. Do not empty the gastank and carburetor if using fuel stabilizer.

ENGINE OIL

Drain oil (with engine warm) and replacewith clean engine oil. (See "ENGINE" inthe Maintenance section of this manual).CYLINDER

1. Remove spark plug.2. Pour one ounce (29 ml) of oil through

spark plug hole into cylinder.3. Pull starter handle slowly a few times

to distribute oil.

4. Replace with new spark plug.

OTHER

• Do not store gasoline from one seasonto another.

• Replace your gasoline can if your canstarts to rust. Rust and/or dirt in yourgasoline will cause problems.

• If possible, store your unit indoors andcover it to protect it from dust and dirt.

• Cover your unit with a suitable protec-tive cover that does not retain moisture.Do not use plastic. Plastic cannotbreathe, which allows condensation toform and will cause your unit to rust.

IMPORTANT: Never cover mower while

engine and exhaust areas are still warm._I, CAUTION: Never store the lawn

mower with gasoline in the tank inside abuilding where fumes may reach an openflame or spark. Allow the engine to coolbefore storing in any enclosure.

I. OPERACION, Antes de empezar, debe familiarizarse

II. OPERAClON SOBRE LAS CUESTASLos accidentes ocurren con mas frecuencia enlas cuestas. Estos accidentes ocurren debido aresbaladas o caidas, las cuales pueden resultaren graves lesiones. Operar la recortadora encuestas requiere mayor concentraci6n. Si sesiente inseguro en una cuesta, no la recorte.HACER:

Lea estas instrucciones y el manual completamente antes de tratar de montar u operar su segadora nueva.IMPORTANTE: Este cortacesped viene SIN ACEITE O GASOLtNA en el motor.Su segadora nueva ha sido montada en la fabrica con la excepci6n de aquellas partes que se de-jaron sin montar por razones de envio. Todas las partes como las tuercas, las arandelas, los per-nos, etc., que son necesarias para completar el montaje han sido colocadas en la bolsa de partes.Para asegurarse que su segadora funcione en forma segura y adecuada, todas las partes y losarticulos de ferreteria que se monten tienen que ser apretados seguramente. Use las herramientascorrectas, como sea necesario, para asegurar que se aprieten adecuadamente.

PARA REMOVER LA SEGADORA DELA CAJA DE CARTON1. Remueva las partes sueltas que se incluyen

con la segadora.2. Corte las dos esquinas de los extremos

de la caja de cart6n y tienda el panel delextremo piano.

3. Remueva todo el material de empaque, ex-cepto la cuba entre el mango superior y 61inferior, y la cuba que sujeta la barra de loscontrol que exige la presencia del operadorjunto con el mango superior.

4. Haga rodar la segadora hacia afuera de lacaja de cart6n y revisela cuidadosamentepara verificar si todavia quedan partessueltas adicionales.

COMO PREPARAR SU SEGADORA

PARA DESDOBLAR EL MANGOIMPORTANTE: Despliegue el mango conmucho cuidado para no pellizcar o daSar loscables de control.1. Levante la secci6n del mango inferior hasta

la posici6n de operaci6n y alinee el agujeroen este con uno de los tres agujeros paradeterminar la altura en el puntal del mango.

2. lnserte el perno del mango a traves de estey del puntal y asegOrelo con la manilla.

3. Repita el procedimiento para el ladoopuesto del mango.

4. Levante la secci6n del mango superiorhasta la posici6n de operaci6n, remueva lacuSa protectora y apriete las manillas delmango en forma segura.

5. Remueva el material de empaque de alred-edor de la barra de control.

La operaci6n de cualquiersegadora puede hacer quesalten objetos extra_os dentro desus ojos, Io que puede producirda_os graves en estos. Siempre

use anteojos de seguridad o protecci6n paralos ojos mientras opere su segadora o cuandohaga ajustes o reparaciones. Recomendamosgalas o una mascara de seguridad de visi6namplia de seguridad usada sobre las gafas.

COMO USAR SU SEGADORA

VELOCIDAD DEL MOTORLa velocidad del motor se estableci6 en la fa-brica para un rendimiento 6ptimo. La velocidadno se puede ajustar.

AJUSTE DEL MANDOOcasionalmente, el sistema de mando puede"aflojarse", provocando una disminuci6n de lavelocidad. Hay un torniquete en la sede delmando para apretar la tensi6n del cable. Pro-ceder de la siguiente manera:1. Apagar la unidad y desconectar el cable de

bujia de la bujia.2. Vuelta el torniquete para aumentar la velo-

cidad del mecanismo.3. Opere la segadora para probar la velo-

cidad del mecanismo. Reajuste segOn Iorequerido.

4. Si las condiciones no mejoran despuesde los pasos descritos (la velocidad haciaadelante queda la misma), la correa detransmisi6n esta desgastada y tiene que sersustituida.

NTROL DE ZONA DEL MOTORPRECAUCION: Las regulaciones federales

exigen que se instale un control para el motoren esta segadora para reducir a un minimo elriesgo de lesionarse debido al contacto con lacuchilla. Por ningQn motivo trate de eliminarla funci6n del control del operador. La cuchillagira cuando el motor esta funcionando.. Su segadora viene equipada con una barra

de controles que exigen la presencia deloperador, Io que requiere que el operadoreste detras del mango de la segadora parahacerla arrancar y operarla.

CONTROL DE LA IMPULSIONLa autopropulsi6n se controla manteniendola palanca de mando operador presenteabajo hacia el mango y tirando la palanca deaccionamiento atras hacia el mango. Cuantomas lejos se tira la palanca hacia el mango,mas rapida ira la unidad.El movimiento hacia adelante se detienecuando sea la palanca de mando operadorpresente o la palanca de accionamiento sesueltan. Para detener el movimiento haciaadelante sin apagar el motor, soltar s61ola palanca de accionamiento. Mantener lapalanca de mando operador presente abajocontra el mango para continuar a cortar sinautopropulsi6n.

AVlSO: Si despues haber desenganchadode la palanca de control, la segadora no rodahacia atras, empuje la segadora un poco haciaadelante para desenganchar las ruedas de laimpulsi6n.

PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTELevante las ruedas para el corte bajo y baje lasruedas para el corte alto., ajuste la altura decorte para que se acomode a sus requisitos. Laposici6n del medio es la mejor para la mayoriade los cespedes.

Para cambiar la altura de corte, empuje lapalanca del ajustador hacia la rueda. Muevala rueda hacia arriba o hacia abajo de modoque se acomode a sus requisitos. AsegQreseque todas las ruedas queden igualmenteajustadas.

aceite, o fumar& pesa demante del silenciadorcuando Io valla a arrancar.

1. AsegOrese que la segadora este nivelada.2. Remueva la varila medidora de aceite del

tubo de desarga de aceite.3. Usted recibe un envase de aceite con la

unidad. Vierta lentamente el envase enterode aceite en el tubo de relleno del motor.

AVlSO: El terraplen inicial del aceite requieresolamente 18 onzas debido al aceite residualen el motor de la prueba de calidad de 100%del fabricante. AI cambiar el aceite puedenecesitar 20 onzas.4. lnserte y apriete la varilla medidora de

aceite.IMPORTANTE:* Revise el nivel del aceite antes de cada uso.

Agregue aceite si es necesario. Llene hastala linea de Ileno en la varilla medidora denivel.

* Cambie el aceite despues de 25 horas deoperaci6n o una vez por temporada. Puedenecesitar cambiar el aceite mas a menudocuando las condiciones son polvorosas o su-cias. Vea "PARA CAMBIAR EL ACEtTE DELMOTOR" en la seccion de Mantenimiento deeste manual.

AGREGUE GASOLINA, Llene el estanque de combustible hasta la

parte inferior del cuello de relleno del es-tanque de gasolina. No Io Ilene demasiado.Use gasolina regular, sin plomo, nueva y lim-pia con el minimo de 87 octanos. No mezcleel aceite con la gasolina. Para asegurarque la gasolina utilizada sea fresca compreestanques los cuales puedan ser utilizados

durante los primeros 30 dias.PRECAUClON: Limpie el aceite o el

combustible derramado. No almacene, derrameo use gasolina cerca de una llama expuesta.,dI_PRECAUCION: Los combustibles

mezclados con alcohol (conocidos comogasohol, o el uso de etanol o metanol) puedenatraer la humedad, la que conduce a laseparaci6n y formaci6n de acidos durante elalmacenamiento. La gasolina acidica puededaSar el sistema del combustible de un motordurante el almacenamiento. Para evitar losproblemas con el motor, se debe vaciar elsistema del combustible antes de guardarlopor un periodo de 30 dias o mas. Vacie elestanque del combustible, haga arrancar elmotor y hagalo funcionar hasta que las lineasdel combustible y el carburador queden vacios.La pr6xima temporada use combustible nuevo.Vea las lnstrucciones Para El AImacenamientopara mas informaci6n. PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTORAVlSO: Debido alas capas protectoras del mo-tor, una cantidad peque5a de humo puede es-tar presente durante el uso inicial del productoy se debe considerar normal.AVlSO: Su motor viene equipado con unsistema de estrangulaci6n automatico. Norequiere ser cebado o obturado antes dearrancar., Para hater arrancar un motor, sujete la barra

de controles que exigen la presencia deloperador abajo en el mango y tire el mangodel arrancador rapidamente. No permita queel cord6n arrancador se devuelva abruptam-ente.

Si se ahoga el motor espere unos cuantosminutos antes de tratar de hacerlo arrancar yno repita los pasos del cebado.

Puede que seanecesario reducir la velocidad del recorridoy/o haga funcionar la segadora sobre el areapor segunda vez.Para un corte muy pesado, reduzca el anchodel corte pasando parcialmente por encimadel lugar anteriormente cortado y sieguelentamente.

* Para un mejor ensacado del cesped y para lamayoria de las condiciones de corte, la velo-cidad del motor debe ajustarse a la posici6nde R/kPIDO.

* Los poros en los recogedores de cesped detela pueden Ilenarse con mugre y polvo conel uso y los recogedores recaudaran menoscesped. Para evitar este, rocie el recogedorcon la manguera de agua regularmente ydejelo secarse antes de usarlo.Mantenga la parte superior del motor, alred-edor del arrancador, despejada y sin recortesde cesped y paja. Esto ayudara el flujo delaire del motor y extendera su duraci6n.

CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR Y ACOL-CHAR

IMPORTANTE: Para obtener el mejorrendimiento mantenga la caja de la segadorasin acumulacion de cesped y basura. Vea"LIMPIEZA" en la seccion de Mantenimento deeste manual.

* La cuchilla acolchadora especial va a volvera cortar los recortes de cesped muchasveces, y los reduce en tamaSo, de modo quesi se caen en el cesped se van a dispesarentre este y no se van a notar. Tambien, elcesped acolchado se va a deshacer rapidam-ente entregando substancias nutritivas parael cesped. Siempre acolche con la velocidaddel motor (cuchilla) mas alta, pues asi seobtendra la mejor acci6n de recorte de lascuchillas.

* Evite cortar el cesped cuando este mojado.El cesped mojado tiende a formar montonese interfiere con la acci6n de acolchado.La mejor hora para segar el cesped estemprano en la tarde. A esa hora este se hasecado y el area recien cortada no quedaraexpuesta al sol directo.

* Para obtener los mejores resultados, ajustela altura del corte de la segadora de modoque esta corte solamente el tercio superiorde las hojas de cesped. En el caso de que elcesped haya crecido demasiado, puede sernecesario el elevar la altura del corte parareducir el esfuerzo necesario para empujar lasegadora y para evitar sobrecargar el motor,dejando montones de recortes de cesped.Para un cesped muy pesado, reduzca el an-cho del corte pasando por encima del lugaranteriormente cortado y siegue lentamente.

Ciertos tipos de cesped y sus condicionespueden exigir que un area tenga que seracolchada por segunda vez para escondercompletamente los recortes. Cuando se hagael segundo corte, siegue atravesado (enforma perpendicular) a la pasada del primercorte.

* Cambie su patr6n de corte de semana asemana. Siegue de norte a sur una semanay luego cambie de este a oeste la pr6ximasemana. Esto evitara que el cesped seenrede y cambie de direcci6n.

RUEDAS DE IMPULSIONRevise las ruedas de impulsi6n traseras cadavez antes de segar, para asegurarse de que semueven libremente. Si las ruedas no giran li-bremente quiere decir que hay basura, recortesde cesped, etc. en el area de las ruedas deimpulsi6n y tienen que limpiarse para liberarlas.Es necesario limpiar las ruedas de impulsi6n;revise ambas ruedas traseras.

4. lnstale el perno de la cuchilla con la arandelade seguridad y la arandela endurecida en eladaptador de la cuchilla y el cigueSal.

5. Use un bloque de madera entre la cuchillay la caja de la segadora y apriete el pernode la cuchilla girandolo en el sentido en quegiran las manillas del reloj.

* La torsi6n para apretar recomendada es de35 -40 pies libras.

2. Haga descansar la segadora en su lado.AsegOrese que el filtro de aire y que el car-burador queden mirando hacia arriba.

3. Use un bloque de madera entre la cuchillay la caja de la segadora para evitar que lacuchilla gire cuando se le quite el perno.

AVlSO: Proteja sus manos con guantes y/oenvuelva la cuchilla con una tela gruesa.4. Remueva el perno de la cuchilla girandolo en

5. Remueva la cuchilla y los articulos de fer-reteria adjuntadores (el perno, la arandela deseguridad y la arandela endurecida).

AVlSO: Remueva el adaptador de la cuchilla yrevise el cubo interior de la ranura del adap-tador de la cuchilla. La ranura tiene que estaren buenas condiciones para que funcione enforma adecuada. Cambie el adaptador siestadaSado.PARA CAMBtAR LA CUCHtLLA

3. AsegQrese de que el borde de salida de lacuchilla (opuesto al borde afilado) este haciaarriba hacia el motor.

PARA AFtLAR LA CUCHtLLAAVISO: No recomendamos el afilar la cuchilla- pero si Io hace, asegOrese de que quede bal-anceada. Una cuchilla que no esta balanceadava a producir eventualmente daSo en la sega-dora o en el motor.* La cuchilla puede afilarse con una lima o en

una rueda rectificadora. No trate de afilarlamientras se encuentra en la segadora.

* Para revisar el balance de la cuchilla, claveun clavo en una viga o en la pared. Dejealrededor de una pulgada de un clavo rectoexpuesto. Ponga el agujero central de lacuchilla sobre la cabeza del clavo. Si lacuchilla esta balanceada debe permaneceren la posici6n horizontal. Si cualquiera delos extremos de la cuchilla se mueve haciaabajo, afile el extremo pesado hasta queesta quede balanceada.

RECOGEDOR DE C#SPED* El recogedor de cesped puede ser rociado

con el agua de la manguera pero tiene queestar seco cuando se vaya a usar.

* Revise su recogedor de cesped a menudopara verificar si esta daSado o deteriorado.Se va a desgastar con el uso normal. Si senecesita cambiar el recogedor, cambielosolamente por uno que sea aprobado pot elfabricante. De el nOmero del modelo de lasegadora cuando Io ordene.

CAJA DE ENGRANAJESPara mantener el sistema de impulsi6nfuncionando en forma adecuada, la caja deengranajes y el area alrededor de la impulsi6ntienen que mantenerse limpias y sin acumu-laci6n de basura. Limpie debajo de la cubierta

31 de la impulsi6n dos veces por temporada.

, La caja de engranajes se Ilena con lubricantehasta el nivel adecuado en la fabrica. La0nica vez que el lubricante necesita atenci6nes cuando se le ha prestado servicio a lacaja de engranajes.

, Si se necesita lubricante, use solamenteGrasa Texaco Starplex Premium 1, Parte No.750369. No use substitutos.

MOTORLUBRICAClONUse solamente aceite de detergente de altacalidad clasificado con la clasificaci6n SG-SLde servicio APt. Seleccione la calidad de visco-sidad SAE seg0n su temperatura de operaci6nesperada.

CALIDADES DE VlSCOSIDAD DE SAE

AVISO: A pesar de que los aceites de multi-viscosidad (5W30, 10W30, etc.) mejoran elarranque en clima frio, estos aceites de mul-tiviscosidad van ha aumentar el consumo deaceite cuando se usan en temperaturas sobre32° F. Revise el nivel del aceite del motor masa menudo, para evitar un posible da_o en elmotor, debido a que no tiene suficiente aceite.Cambie el aceite despues de 25 horas deoperaci6n o por Io menos una vez al a_o si lasegadora se utiliza menos 25 horas el a_o.Revise el nivel del aceite del carter antes dearrancar el motor y despues de cada cinco (5)horas de uso continuado. Apriete el tap6n delaceite en forma segura cada vez que revise elnivel del aceite.PARA CAMBtAR EL ACEITE DEL MOTOR

AVlSO: Antes de inclinar la segadora para dre-nar el aceite, drene el tanque de combustiblehaciendo correr el motor hasta que el tanqueeste vacio.1. Desconecte el alambre de la bujia y

p6ngalo de modo que no pueda entrar encontacto con esta.

2. Remueva la tapa del dep6sito del aceite;dejela a un lado en una superficie limpia.

3. Incline la cortadora de cesped por estecostado tal como se muestra y purgue elaceite en un recipiente id6neo. Mueva lasegadora de atras para adelante para re-mover todo el aceite que se haya quedadoatrapado dentro del motor.

4. Limpie todo el aceite derramado en la sega-dora yen el lado del motor.

5. Echar aceite despacio en el conducto delaceite, parandose a intervalos regularespara controlar el nivel del aceite con lavarilla.

6. Parar de aSadir aceite cuando se alcanza laseSal de Ileno (FULL) en la varilla. Esperarun minuto para dejar que el aceite se ar-regle.

7. ContinUe agregando cantidades pequeasde aceite y vuelva a inspeccionar la varillamedidora settles del nivel de aciete en Ileno(FULL). NO sobrellene el motor con aceite,o fumar& pesa demante del silenciadorcuando Io valla a arrancar.

8. Aseg_rese de apretar la varilla medidoradel aceite antes de arrancar el motor.

9. Vuelva a conectar el alambre de la bujia aesta.

FILTRO DE AIRESu motor puede sufrir averias y funcionar demanera incorrecta con un filtro del aire sucio.Sustituir el papel del cartucho una vez al aSoo tras 100 horas de funcionamiento, mas amenudo si se utiliza en condiciones de sucie-dad y polvo particulares.PARA LIMPtAR EL FILTRO DE AtRE

1. Suelte el tornillo e incline la cubierta pararemoverlo.

2. Cuidadosamente, remueva el cartucho.3. Limpielo golpeandolo suavemente en una

Cambie el bujia al comienzo de cada tempo-rada de siega o despues de cada 100 horas deoperaci6n, Io que suceda primero. El tipo debujia y el ajuste de la abertura aparecen en "ES-PECtFICACtONES DEL PRODUCTO" secci6nde este manual.

LIMPIEZAIMPORTANTE: Para obtener el mejorrendimineto, mantenga la caja de la segadorasin acumulacion de cesped y basura. Limpiela parte de abajo de su segadora despues decada uso._I, PRECAUCION: Desconecte el alambre de

la bujia y p6ngalo en donde no pueda entrar encontacto con esta.* Haga descansar la segadora en su lado.

Aseg0rese que el filtro de aire y que el car-burador queden mirando hacia arriba. Limpiela parte inferior de su segadora raspandolapara remover la acumulaci6n de cesped ybasura.

, Limpie el motor a menudo para evitar quese acumule la basura. Un motor tapado fun-ciona mas caliente y se acorta su duraci6n.

, Mantenga las superficies pulidas y las rue-das sin gasolina, aceite, etc.

* No recomendamos el uso de una manguerade jardin para limpiar la segadora a menosque el sistema electrico, el silenciador, elfiltro de aire y el carburador esten tapadospara evitar que les entre el agua. El agua enel motor puede acortar la duraci6n de este.

BERRUBIO DEL AGUASu cortacespedes de cesped se equipa de unaguarnici6n que permita la limpieza rapida yfacil del superficie inferior de la cubierta. Parautilizar esta caracteristica, siga de la formasiguiente:1. Mueva el cortacespedes de cesped a un

area de la hierba cortada o de otra superfi-cie dura.

NOTA: El agua, la hierba y la otra ruina escur-riran debajo de la cubierta del cortacespedesdurante el proceso del derrubio.2. Quite el colector de la hierba y descargue

el montaje del canal inclinado del cortaces-pedes de cesped.

3. Cierre la puerta del mulcher (siesta equi-pado).

4. Conecte una manguera del jardin con laguarnici6n donde demostrado.

IMPORTANTE: Sea seguro que la mangueradel jardin no esta encaminada debajo de lacubierta del cortacespedes de cesped ni queesta enredada en las ruedas.5. Gire el abastecimiento y la comprobaci6n

para de agua escapes en la guamici6n.Si no hay escapes presentes, encienda elmotor (seg0n Io descrito en la secci6n de laoperaci6n de este manual) y deje el motorfuncionar hasta que el superficie inferior delcortacespedes de cesped esta limpio._ADVERTENClA: No contrate el sistema de

impulsi6n durante el proceso del derrubio.6. Apague el motor.7. Apague el abastecimiento de agua y quite

la manguera de la guarnici6n.PRECAUClON: No quite la manguera de laguarnici6n mientras que el motor esta funciona-ndo. El agua en motor puede dar lugar a vidaacortada del motor.8. Encienda el motor (seg0n Io descrito en la

secci6n de la operaci6n de este manual)y deje el motor funcionar por un minutocompleto para quitar exceso de agua delcortacespedes.

Guarnici6n

LIMPIE DEBAJO DE LA CUBIERTA DE LAIMPULSIONLimpie debajo de la cubierta de la impulsi6npor Io menos dos veces cada temporada.Raspe debajo de la cubierta con un cuchillopara masilla o con una herramienta parecida,para remover toda acumulaci6n de cesped obasura en la parte inferior de la cubierta de laimpulsi6n.

_,ADVERTENCIA: Para evitar lesi6nes serias, antes de dar calquier servico o de hacer ajustes:1. Suelte la barra de control y pare el motor.2. Asegerese que la cuchilla y que todas las partes movibles se hayan detenido completamente.3. Desconecte el alambre de la bujia y p6ngalo en donde no pueda entrar en contacto con esta.

DESVlADOR TRASEROSe proporciona un desviador trasero, adjuntoentre las ruedas traseras de su segadora, parareducir a un minimo la posibilidad que objetossean lanzados hacia afuera de la parte traserade la segadora, en la posici6n en donde seencuentra el operador. Si se dafia el desviadordebe cambiarse.

PARA REMOVER CORREA DE IMPULSION1. Remueva la cubierta de la impulsi6n.2. Remueva resorte y fijador de la correa.3. Remueva la correa en la polea de la caja de

engranajes.4. Haga descansar la segadora en su lado

con el filtro de aire y el carburador mirandohacia arriba.

5. Remueva la cuchilla, la polea del motor y ladefensa en contra del desperdicio.

6. Remueva la polea del motor y la correa dela defensa en contra del desperdicio.

PARA CAMBIAR CORREA DE IMPULSION1. Colocar la nueva correa de mando en la

polea del motor y el estribo de la pantallade los escombros.

2. Colocar la otra extremidad de la nuevacorrea de mando a traves del orificio en elbastidor.

3. Reinstale la defensa en contra del desperdi-cio.

4. Vuelva la segadora a la posici6n vertical.5. lnstale la correa nueva en la polea de la

caja de engranajes.6. Reinstale la fijador de la correa y resorte.7. Reinstale cubierta de la impulsi6n.NOTA: Siempre use la correa aprobada por lafabrica para asegurarse que calce y dure.8. Haga descansar la segadora en su lado

con el filtro de aire y el carburador mirandohacia arriba.

9. Reinstale la cuchilla.

PARA AJUSTAR EL MANGOEl mango de su segadora cuenta con tres (3)posiciones de altura - ajOstelo a la altura que leacomode.1. Remueva la manilla y el perno portador en

un lado del mango inferior.2. AI mismo tiempo que sujeta el conjunto del

mango, remueva la manilla y el perno porta-dor del lado opuesto, alinee el agujero en elmango con el agujero deseado en el puntaldel mango y vuelva a montar el perno y lamanilla y aprietelos en forma segura.

MOTORVELOCIDAD DEL MOTORLa velocidad del motor ha sido ajustada enla fabrica. No trate de aumentar la velocidaddel motor pues se pueden producir lesionespersonales. Si cree que el motor esta funcio-nando demasiado rapido o demasiado lento,Ileve su segadora a mas con su centro deservicio Sears o con un otro centro de serviciocualificado.

CARBURADORSu carburador tiene un chorro principal fijono ajustable para controlar la mezcla. Si sumotor no esta funcionando en forma adecuadadebido a problemas que se sospecha vienendel carburador, Ileve su segadora a contactocon su centro de servicio Sears o con un ottocentro de servicio cualificado para repararla y/oajustarla.IMPORTANTE: Nunca manipule el reguladordel motor, el que ha sido ajustado en la fabricapara la velocidad del motor adecuada. Puedeset peligroso hacer funcionar el motor a unavelocidad por sobre el ajuste de alta velocidadde la fabrica. Si cree que la velocidad altaregulada del motor necesita ajuste,contacto consu centro de servicio Sears o con un otro centrode servicio cualificado, el que cuenta con elequipo adecuado y la experiencia para hacerlos ajustes necesarios.

lnmediatamente prepare su segadora para elalmacenamiento al final de cada temporada o sila unidad no se va a usar por 30 dias o mas.SEGADORACuando se va a guardar la segadora pot ciertoperiodo de tiempo, limpiela cuidadosamente,remueva toda la mugre, la grasa, las hojas, etc.Guardela en un area limpia y seca.1. Limpie toda la segadora (Vea "LIMPtEZA" en

MOTORSISTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLE

IMPORTANTE: Es importante evitar quese formen depositos de coma en partesfundamentales del sistemade combustible talescomo el carburador, el filtro del combustible,la mangura del combustible o en el estanquedurante el almacenamiento. Los combustiblesmezclados con alcohol (conocido comegasohol o que tienen etanol o metanol)Pueden atraer humedad, Io que conduce a laseparacion y a la formaci6n de acidos duranteel almacenamiento. ACEITE DEL MOTOR

Engine Power Rating information

The gross power rating for individual gas engine models is labeled in accordance with SAE (So-ciety of Automo-tive Engineers) code J 11940 (Small Engine Power & Torque Rating Procedure),and rating performance has been obtained and corrected in accordance with SAE J1995 (Revision2002-5). Actual gross engine power will be lower and is affected by, among other things, ambi-ent operating conditions and engine-to-engine variability. Given both the wide array of productson which engines are placed and the variety of environmental issues applicable to operating theequipment, the gas engine will not develop the rated gross power when used in a given piece ofpower equipment (actual "on-site" or net horsepower). This difference is due to a variety of factorsincluding, but not limited to, accessories (air cleaner, exhaust, charging, cooling, carburetor, fuelpump, etc.), application limitations, ambient operating conditions (temperature, humidity, altitude),and engine-to-engine variability. Due to manufacturing and capacity limitations, Briggs & Strattonmay substitute an engine of higher rated power for this Series engine.
