The Motz Group became involved with
Ownership Thinking in March 2009. Since
then we have fostered a paradigm shift in our
culture and now have a team of involved
forward thinkers – all motivated to increase our
shared bottom line.

Quickly after adopting the ‘Ownership
Thinking’ business management model, The
Motz Group began implementing Rapid
Improvement Plans to capitalize on the concept of picking the low hanging fruit.
What is a Rapid Improvement Plan?
Rapid Improvement Plans (RIPs) are
high involvement, formalized plans to
improve performance on a particular improve performance on a particular
Key Performance Indicator in a short
period of time (typically one quarter).
“Surf and Turf” Rapid Improvement Plan
Objective: $1,000,000 in purchases using the PNC – Visa Card
Timeframe: June 1 – August 31, 2009 / 90 Days
Actions/People:
All team members to make their necessary
business / project supply purchases on their
TMG Visa card.
Accounting department to make a dedicated Accounting department to make a dedicated
effort to pay all of our vendors with the Visa
card instead of check or other methods.
Benefits: $2,000,000 - $9,999,999 in annual purchases will trigger a rebate
of 70 basis points or $14,000.00 ≤
Celebration: Lobster bake on a Friday afternoon in August
Cost: $35 per head ($750-$1,000)
Goal ACHIEVED!
In short, volume levels
were attained & the
company received a
rebate of over $16,000.
Our employees
enjoyed the benefit of a
nice lunch (<$1,000) on a
late summer afternoon.

Objectives:
1. Health screening / physical with family doctor
2. Read 3 self improvement / business related books
& complete a report indicating three “take aways”
that you can use in your daily life
3. Create, commit & accomplish a stretch goal
(health, spiritual or work related)
Timeframe: May 10, 2010 – December 15, 2010
Actions/People: All TMG full-time employees
Benefits: Enrich the life of each employee by sharpening physical,
mental, and spiritual health and simultaneously
strengthening TMG by fostering a wellness culture with
healthier and more productive employees.
Celebration: Each employee who completes the objectives will
receive an additional 2011 vacation day!
