HISTORY OF A PASSION

Founded in France in 1985, Oxbow was born from the meeting of boardsports fanatic Fabrice Valéri and fashion stylist Isabelle Cachot.

The brand was developed alongside iconic athletes, like Laird Hamilton, pioneer of tow-in surfing, kitesurf, foilsurfing or more recently stand-up paddle surfing. From the beginning of the brand, Oxbow has never stopped exploring new territories and following riders on their craziest projects.

Thanks to their close contact with these athletes, who cover all disciplines (surf, snow, kite, freestyle skiing or windsurfing), from the very beginning Oxbow has created products that combine quality, technicality and creativity.

Oxbow gives riders the chance to live their passion for boardsports, without restraints while always respecting their playground, Nature. This is Oxbow’s raison d’être, because nature will always be stronger than humanity.

Créée en France en 1985, Oxbow est née de la rencontre entre un passionné des boardsports, Fabrice Valéri et une styliste de mode, Isabelle Cachot.

La marque s’est développée au contact des plus grands athlètes, à l’image de Laird Hamilton, pionnier du surf tracté, du kitesurf, du foilsurfing ou plus récemment du stand up paddle. Depuis sa création, Oxbow n’a eu de cesse d’explorer de nouveaux territoires, accompagnant les riders dans leurs projets les plus fous.

C’est au contact de ces sportifs, évoluant dans toutes les disciplines (surf, snowboard, Kitesurf, ski freestyle ou encore windsurf) qu’Oxbow élabore depuis ses débuts des produits alliant qualité, technicité et créativité.

These four criteria are assessed on a scale from 1 to 3 (good enough/good/excellent) to facilitate consumer’s comprehension of the impact that products have on the environment. This label is on all our Naturally Committed products.

The 2-Layer construction used for the GORE-TEX® Performance Shell is designed for a wide range of outdoor activities. A specifi c GORE-TEX® membrane is bonded to the outer material and protected on the inside by a separate lining. The separate lining ensures better wearing comfort and versatility. GORE-TEX® Performance Shells provide breathable comfort and durably waterproof and windproof protection. Whether you are skiing, cycling, mountaineering, in-line skating or just walking, you never need to change your garment with the 2-Layer GORE-TEX® Performance Shell.

The reason for cold hands is almost always moisture trapped in the insulation of your gloves; moisture from the outside because the gloves are not waterproof, or moisture from the inside because the gloves don’t breathe and perspiration gets trapped in them.The solution is GORE-TEX® Gloves. GORE-TEX® Gloves are not only durably waterproof, they are also highly breathable. Water stays on the outside, while moisture in the form of sweat can always escape from the inside. The result: Your hands stay warm when it’s cold and dry when your perspire.

The Z-liner construction is used for GORE-TEX® products. A specific GORE-TEX® membrane is bonded to a lightweight carrier fabric. This Z-liner is freely suspended between the outer material and the lining of the jacket. As only the seams of the Z-liner need to be sealed, this construction gives clothing more freedom to design the garment, making it especially attractive for innovative applications.

PrimaLoft® ONE is a high pereforming insulation on the market for warmth, water resistance, softness and compressibility. PrimaLoft ONE is an ultra-fine micro fiber insulation lightweight as down and provides warmth wet or dry . The fiber technology creates a unique matrix that miximizes loft for superior insulation capacity. PrimaLoft® ONE absorbs less water than other. This minimal absorption quality allows the ultra-fine micro fibers to dry much quicker than down as well as other synthetic performance insulations

RECCO® is an avalanche rescue system utilized by 600 rescue organizations worldwide to assist in the efficient location of burials. RECCO technology enables rapid directional pinpointing of a victim’s precise location using harmonic radar. The two-part system consists of a RECCO® detector used by organized rescue groups, and RECCO® reflectors that are integrated into apparel, helmets, protection gear or boots. The reflector is permanently affixed, requires no training for use and needs no batteries to function.Although similar in search procedure to transceivers, the RECCO system is not intended for self-rescue nor is it an alternative to transceiver use in the backcountry. Complementary in function, the system is an additional tool that does not interfere with other rescue methods such as avalanche dogs, transceiver searches or probe lines. The RECCO system facilitates a faster organized search for rescuers and provides skiers and snowboarders with one more chance to be found in time.

Oxbow Rider’s Winter 2012 collection will be inspired by this idea and will propose casual and active silhouettes playing on these contradictions and built around functional and customizable concepts.

The color range combines neutral tones (Black, White ), denim tone ( Storm Blue), natural tones (Gun Metal, Dark Honey,

masculine tone (Blue) and feminine tone (Fushia).DRY EDGE and GORE TEX laminated fabrics mix shiny effects and natural textures. You will find different optical effects with yarn-dyed stripes and checks, and oversized checkerboard all over print. The Men’s range is reinforced by all over printed jacquard and faded stripes. The Women’s range offers feminine liberty print flowers and organic all over prints.

The “Hide & Show” concept is also on body mapped linings, with a mix of functional and visual fabrics: all over print, satin, tricot, and 3D mesh for comfort, breathability and warmth.

La collection Rider Hiver 2012-2013 d’Oxbow s’inspire de ces contradictions et propose une gamme de silhouettes aux styles casual et sport avec des concepts fonctionnels et « customisables ». La gamme couleurs est constituée de tons neutres (Black, White), denim (Storm Blue), naturels (Gun Metal,Dark Honey, Red Rock), lumineux (Red, Green Lemon, Aqua), et spécifiques (Blue pour l’homme et Fushia pour la femme). Les matières avec membrane DRY EDGE et GORE TEX, mixent brillances et touchés naturels. On trouvera différents styles graphiques avec des carreaux et des rayures tissés-teints, des damiers multicolors géants.... La collection homme sera renforcée par un jacquard imprimé et une rayure tramée, et la collection femme par une inspiration Liberty et un imprimé organique et féminin.

Le concept « Hide & Show » se trouve également dans le Body Mapping des doublures par le mélange de matières fonctionnelles et visuelles : imprimés, satin, tricot, et maille 3D pour le confort, la respirabilité et la chaleur.

Un mélange d’inspirations pour une diversité de sensations, car la vraie performance, c’est de rider avec son propre style et ses propres inspirations, en se rapprochant au maximum de l’idée qu’on se fait de la perfection. Alors bonne session et profitez un maximum !
