How the manual is organized

This manual guide provides detailed information about the differentcomponents of the product, its functions as well as instruction ofpurchase and support.

Introduction of OxfordGo

The OxfordGo (dictionary reader), especially developed for the PDAcommunity, is based on the renowned dictionaries from OxfordUniversity Press. It allows you to use 5 different dictionaries such asConcise Oxford Medical, English Spanish, Spanish English, English German and German - English at the same time.

This pocket PC version includes features and functionality NOTAVAILABLE in the print version as following:

Installation for Pocket PC

Requirements: The OxfordGo only requires 4 MB of free space, but if you

install Oxford Dictionary data files then you have to check needed spaces

for corresponding dictionary.

You need to have MS Active Sync Software on your device.

Unzip downloaded file to a folder with a zip tool. The popular unzip

program WinZip is available at www.winzip.com

1. Run setup file with the name OxfordGo_Run_This_First.exe and

follow instructions

2. When finished installing the reader please run the setup file for data

(e.g: if you buy Medical Dictionary then run Oxford_Med_Dict.exe )3. After finish installing data files, go to Start Menu>>Program here

you will see the symbols of OxfordGo and OxfordSee

4. Open OxfordGo then here you go

We recommend storing in the Storage Card when the installation asks toselect Main Memory or Storage Card .

You can copy the CAB file to your device and run the CAB file directlybut it will automatically install the software to the main memory.

UninstallationTo remove the product from your Pocket PC:

1. Go to Start menu >> Settings 2. Open System and tap on Remove Programs 3. Select OxfordGo from the list and tap on the Remove button

4. Choose Yes to confirm removing

Components of OxfordGo

The product includes two components:OxfordGo: The main module that allows you to search by word, by fixedform, to listen to pronunciation.

OxfordSee: A module that enables you to search for words in otherapplications such as Pocket IE, MS Reader and Pocket Word.

Rack box

Instruction of functions

Word search : to search for a word, simply type it in the textbox (using

the standard build-in keyboard), tap on the button and the

meaning will appear. You also have the alternative of choosing the word

from the list-box. If you want to see the Keyword List, just tap on the

Down-arrow icon in the Word-Entry box

The keyboard will appear automatically when tapping on the Word-Entry textbox. You can show/hide the keyboard by tapping on thekeyboard button in the toolbar.

Advanced Search:

Pattern Search : In addition to searching by the regular method, with

OxfordGo you can also search by pattern. For example: To search words including tion , you type { *tion* } The ? mark stands for one character. The * mark stands for none or several characters.

On the main screen , tap on the button in the toolbar and then select

to facilitate the search. Type in the textbox and tap on

Anagram search : With this function you can search for words built up by

the same letters. All letters from the board box will be included, while

only one letter from the rack box will be included in each word.

You can sort the result alphabetical or by length. On the main screen, tap

on the button in the toolbar

Phonetic search : You enter an approximate spelling of a word. The

phonetic search will return a list of words that SOUND like what was

entered. Phonetic search will automatically search for words which are

spelled differently but may sound the same

Adding notes: With this utility, you can attach comments to the in-task

word. On the main screen, tap on the icon and enter your notes for

the current in-task word, save notes by taping on the button.

If a keyword contains a comment, the Notes Icon will change colorto . To remove your comments, just tap on the icon again, delete alltext and choose Save .

Audio Pronunciation : OxfordGo is the program that provides word

pronunciation. After searching, tap on the button to hear the audio

pronunciation. You can hear pronunciation of all keywords. Together with

the phonetic transcript feature, it can be a helpful function for improving

your pronunciation.

For the audio feature to work properly, please make sure that youhave activated sounds for Programs at Start menu >> Settings >>

Sounds & Notifications

Using favorites list: To add a word to the favorites list, just tap on the

button. To remove a word from the list, merely tap on the button

again.

Using history list: This is a list of the words previously looked up. At

present, the list is limited to 500 wordsand they are stored automatically. To

access the list, tap on the ( ) button If

you tap on the back-arrow, you will get

the most recent word.

If you want to remove a word from thehistory list, just Tap N Hold on the list then you can see the pop-up

automatically save all words looked up to the

history list (these will not be saved when you

turn the device off)

Notes To show all words that have notes attached.

Study Assistant To show study list, the list can be separated

into words studied by any week or month.

Favorites To show favorites list

Text Size To change the text-size in the meaning view

OxfordSee To show OxfordSee on the task bar

If you want to close OxfordSee, tap and hold the icon, tap on exit

Preferences

This function will allow you tocustomize some features of thisapplication.

General:

The settings are accessible through Tools>>Preferences>>General

Enable Audio : To activate the audio pronunciation feature. You canalso adjust the volume of the voice (this is an internal adjustmentand will not affect other applications)

Enable Clear Type : If you want to read text clearer then choose thisoption.

Font family: Change font type in the meaning view

Font size: Change font size in the meaning view

Study Assistant

Default Wordlist: choose the word-list you want to use for your studyassistant function.

Auto add: the number of words youwant to be automatically added to thestudy-list each day.

Add Now: add the words to the study-list.

Random/Sequential: add the wordsto the study-list randomly or

sequentially.

Clear All: To clear the study list. All previous studied words will beremoved.

OxfordSee

Auto Start: automatically startLexisee when the device starts.

Approximate/Exact match : Ifthis option is checked, the systemwill search for words with similarspelling if no exact match is found.If not checked, it will instead say

word not in word list!

Other

You can change word-type order indefinition view in here, just selectword-type and move up/down toarrange its order. This feature is

very helpful for advanced learner.

You also can change the speed ofscrolling in the definition window.

Using OxfordSee :

To find words in other applications such as MS Reader, MobipocketReader, Pocket IE, Opera Brower, PocketBible, Pocket Word andNotepad. OxfordGo provides you with the OxfordSee module.

For example, from Pocket Word, just move the indicator to the word

you want to lookup and then tap on onto the OxfordSee buttonto see the definition.

And If you turn-on SmartLookup (IE) feature then you

can lookup word in Pocket IE bytapping on word instead ofselecting and then tap onOxfordSee (see beside picture).If you want to get furtherinformation visit Virtual Tour at the products homepage.

If you want to hear a long text read out, select the section you want

to hear, Tap n Hold on the OxfordSee button and then choose menuand

You cannot use smart text selection for non-editable objects inPocket MS Reader or Pocket IE, instead you have to select the wordfirst and then tap on the OxfordSee symbol. You are also able tochange into Full-view screen from the Quick-view screen of OxfordGoif you tap on the { home} button.
