Two separate 4-20 mA signals are used as outputs forthis transmitter. The two independent 4-20mA signalsare used for the oxygen measurement and combustiblesmeasurement. They are fully field-scalable to eachprocesses requirement. The OCX comes with a NEMA 4rating, but can be configured for hazardous area locations. The hazardous area ratings are CSA/FM Class 1, Zone 1for North America and ATEX II 2 G EExd for the Europeancommunity.

The OCX also has Plantweb® capability with the HARTprotocol accessible via a Model 375 HandheldCommunicator or through a PC-based system usingAMS software. Emerson Process Management'sPlantweb field-based architecture allows technicians toview all diagnostic and operational parameters from anylocation where an on-line PC is running with AMS. Thisreduces both commissioning/start-up time as well asdown-time due to trouble shooting the analyzer. The newvacuum fluorescent display is easier to see than an LCDand also allows for easy set-up and diagnostics without aModel 375 Communicator. The OCX 8800 also has aconfigurable relay output for alarms.

The sensors are close-coupled to the process for minimalsample handling requirements. An eductor draws asample past the filter in the sample block and past thesensors then returns it to the process. The sample blockfilter is easily maintained and accessible right at the OCXflange. Optional in situ filters and sample tube blow backare available for processes with particulate. Dilution air isadded in the combustible sensor chamber to maintain atrue combustibles measurement even in the absence ofoxygen in the process. This feature allows measurementsto be made while certain upset conditions exist such asburner fouling, process tube leaks, major variations in fuelBTU values and loss of flame.

Enhanced Design of the Oxygen/Combustibles Transmitter forCombustion Flue Gas AnalysisEmerson has taken the proven performance of theRosemount Analytical OCX 4400 and added a newcombustibles sensor design and sensor housing up-grades to enhance the reliability of these measurements. The new sensor housing along with the new electronicsdesign makes the OCX 8800 the most dependableoxygen/combustibles transmitter on the market and isso complete that it truly is an entirely new instrument.

The OCX 8800 takes an easier, original rugged design ofthe OCX 4400 and adds a more stable sensor, electronicsand software package. The time-tested and world-renowned zirconium oxide sensor used in the Oxymitter™is still the basis for the oxygen measurement. This, coupled with the new patented combustibles sensor candetect oxygen and combustibles concentrations in fluegases with temperatures up to 2600oF (1427oC). Typicalapplications include:

The electronics can be attached to the sensor housingor separate to provide a convenient location for theelectronics and operator interface for integral mountedinstallations. We have built the oxygen/combustiblesmeasurement around the time-proven Oxymitter oxygencell and added a combustibles measurement with dilutionair. This means the combustibles measurement is validwith or without oxygen in the flue gas stream and isextremely useful in reducing conditions. This situation isideal for optimization of your fuel/air ratio or indication ofyour combustion process from a safety standpoint.

The OCX 8800 is fully field-repairable. The probe'sdesign provides convenient access to internal probecomponents and electronics so technicians can servicethe unit in-house. The sensing cell and heater/thermo-couple are fully field-replaceable. We offer sampleprobes in different materials and lengths up to 9 feet forflue gas temperatures up to 2600°F (1427°C).

New hardware design includes:• Vacuum fluorescence Local Operator Interface (LOI)• New combustibles chamber includes:

– Rugged sulfur-resistant catalytic bead sensor(patented design)

– Improved temperature control– Improved heater design

• Optional in-situ filter for high-particulate applications*• Cold junction compensation in sensor housing reduces

wiring costs• Completely redesigned electronic card stack• Line voltage filter

New software features Include:• LOI safety lock-out• Improved sensor and sample block temperature

stabilization• Line voltage diagnostics• Calibration check feature• Calibration abort feature• Easy-to-follow menu tree• Backward compatibility to upgrade your existing
