On an iPod touch or iPhone, Options View can be accessed by tapping the Views button (double overlapping squares) in the bottom left of the screen, and then tapping Options.

On iPad, the Options button is the right-most button on the toolbar.

Tap on Access Method.

Direct Access

Hold Duration adjusts how long any button must be held before it is activated. This is useful for those with motor issues who may make frequent brief mis-hits.

Select on Release is useful for those who have need to place multiple fingers on the screen at the same time. Enable Select on Release by tapping the switch .Note that you may be first prompted to open your device's General settings, go to the Accessibility pane, and then choose VoiceOver as a Triple-click

Home action. This is necessary for Select on Release to work properly. Tap Configuration to set up Select on Release.

Tap Mode to choose which finger(s) you want Proloquo2Go to pay attention to. With First Finger Up, Proloquo2Go tracks all fingers on the screen until the first finger lifts up off the screen. The button under the first finger lifted up is the one that is selected. With First Finger Down, Proloquo2Go tracks the first finger

that touches the screen, and will select the button that is under that finger when the finger is lifted up. All other fingers are ignored.

Switch AccessGo to the Switch Access section and toggle Scanning ON to enable switch access. Note that you will need to make sure VoiceOver is enabled in your Triple-Click Home list of actions. If you have not done this, you will get an alert message with instructions.

Then tap Configuration to open the Scanning settings.

Tap Mode and then select the Scanning Mode that suits you best.

In Automatic Scanning, the highlight advances automatically from item to item. Hit the switch when the desired item is highlighted. In Automatic Selecting, the highlight advances from item to item. If the switch is NOT hit while the item is highlighted, the item is selected. If the switch IS hit while

the item is highlighted, the highlight moves to the next item immediately.

In Inverse Scanning, the highlight advances automatically from item to item as long as the screen is touched. Lift off of screen to select the currently highlighted item. In Step Scanning, hitting the Stepper switch will advance the highlight and hitting the Picker switch will select the currently

highlighted item.

In Automatic Step Scanning, the highlight advances automatically as long as screen is touched. To select a highlighted item, lift off of the screen and then hit the Picker switch.

Tap Pattern to choose how groups and items on the screen are highlighted in the Scan Pattern.

The Linear pattern will highlight each item in the Message Window area, then each button in the grid, and finally, each button in the toolbar, one at a time. The Linear (Grid only) pattern will scan the Message Window area, grid area, and toolbar area as groups. If the grid area is selected, each button is scanned

one by one, rather than by scanning by row.

Access Methods page 3/3

The Row/Column pattern will first highlight large areas of the screen, and then highlight groups of items within the selected area.

When a row is selected, buttons in that row are highlighted one at a time until an individual button is selected.

Now that you’ve selected a scanning mode and a pattern, you can configure your other scanning settings. The settings you can configure will vary based on the scanning mode you have selected.

Scan Rate: (all modes except Step Scanning) Tap the Scan Rate value to adjust the time for which each item is highlighted.

Switch:(Automatic, Automatic Selecting, and Inverse Scanning modes)These modes use a single switch. To use the screen as a switch, tap

Screen to define which part of the screen will act as the switch. If you want to use an external switch, you will need a switch interface. The switch interface will connect to your device using Bluetooth, and will send a specific character to your device when the switch is pressed. Tap External to specify the character that Proloquo2Go will receive when the switch is activated. Refer to you switch interface manual for this info.

Stepper and Picker Switches: (Step Scanning and Automatic Step Scanning modes)These modes use two switches rather than one. Configure each switch to use the screen or an external switch.

For additional configuration options, tap Advanced.

Auto Restart: automatically restart scanning after a user selects a button. Delay After Hit: allow extra time for the first item scanned after a switch is hit. Visual Cue: change the color and width of the border that appears around the highlighted object on the screen.

Looping: repeat the scan of a group a specified number of times to allow the user additional chances to choose items in the group. After Looping specifies what happens when the scan has looped the maximum number of times without a choice being made.Debouncing: set a time period

after a successful switch hit has occurred, during which switch hits are ignored. Hold Duration: specify how long a switch activation has to last before it counts as a switch hit. This only applies to the screen used as a switch, and does not apply to external switches. Direction: allow speakers of right-to-left languages to reverse the direction of scanning.

Exit Options View. To start scanning, tap the blue “play” button. To pause, tap it again.

To quit scanning, tap and hold the button.
