POWERCRON® 6200HE

Version I - Revised 05/10/05 E

POWERCRON® 6200HE BENEFITS

POWERCRON® 6200HE is the latest enhancement of PPG’s 6th generation lead-free cationic epoxy electrocoat. Compared to earlier generation cationic epoxies, POWERCRON® 6200HE benefits include:

New benefits: • Excellent corrosion

resistance on sharp edges • Broad film build capability • Rated WGK1* • Excellent chemical

resistance, including brake fluid

• Reduced weight loss

Other benefits: • Lead-free formulation

Lead-free film Lead-free effluent

• Excellent appearance and

very smooth film • Reduced cure temperature • Lower dry film density • Excellent corrosion resistance

without the use of heavy metals

• Reduced BOD and COD in

the effluents

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

POWERCRON® 6200HE is the most recent enhancement of the 6th generation cationic epoxy electrocoat from PPG Industries. This product demonstrates several improvements over earlier generation cationic epoxies. These benefits include excellent corrosion protection on the edges, broader film build capabilities, improved transfer efficiency, reduced cure temperature, lower film density, excellent chemical resistance and corrosion resistance without the use of heavy metals. POWERCRON® 6200HE exhibits one of the highest transfer efficiencies available in a cationic epoxy electrocoat. This was achieved through a reduction in the amount of by-products released from the coating (weight loss) during the cure process. This lower weight loss translates into lower paint usage. In addition, applicators and the environment benefit from a reduction in oven emissions. POWERCRON® 6200HE cures as low as 155°C, providing applicators with energy savings and the potential to increase productivity. *POWERCRON® 6200HE formulations are also available to pass the latest environmental regulations, WGK1 rating. POWERCRON® 6200HE was formulated to meet automotive industry corrosion resistance requirements without the use of heavy metals, namely lead. It was also designed to provide good corrosion resistance on zinc phosphated substrates without requiring a chrome sealer.
