MontageDescription:

This is an image that has spiritual message about the power, dominance, and light that the sun and stars represent.

Date: October 25th, 2015

Course/Instructor:COMM 130 Section 1; Brother Kerr

Programs/Tools:Adobe Photoshop

Objective:To create an image in Photoshop with a spiritual background.

Process: The first step to this process was deciding what kind of colors I wanted in this image. I could have gone with red or yellow or orange but I found the picture of the sun in blue and loved that so I stuck with it. I found the images that I wanted to use and first start-ed by getting the sun in the middle of the page and using the brush tool to blend the background of the picture away so that it was still dark around it but the words were gone. I went in with the crescent earth picture and decided to make a halo around

the sun with it. So i placed them where I needed to, resizing them to fit and adjusting the colors to make them more blue and bright. I flipped of the images so that it would curve around the other side of the sun. I then took image C, below, and used the las-so tool to cut away the main stars and put those on top of the crescent to make it look more like space. I also edited these pictures to be more blue. I also went over with

the blending tool and made the image a little more see through so that it was not over-whelming and also blended in with the other images, no sharp lines. Lastly, I used the other starry image and put that on the left and right of the page to make the sides of

the image not look bare. I also used the blender tool to make these work with the other stars and also so that you could see the sun well. I also copied and flipped this image

as well to get it on both sides. Lastly I used the sharpen tool all over the design to make everything look crystal clear.

Event AdDescription:

This is a flyer advertising for a charity fashion show and shopping event in which all the proceeds go to WEAVE to help women in need.

Date:October 11th, 2015

Course/Instructor:COMM 130 Section 1; Brother Kerr

Programs/Tools:Microsoft Word

Objective:To create an flyer for a fashion event.

Process: In this design I used a scanner to take the imasge out of a magazine to use for the ad. I wanted this flyer to have really good flow so that it was easy for the reader to get all the information from it. I used the image to be the focal point and the wording to be

around her in a circle so that one would be able to easily read the information. I want-ed a lot of contrast so I stuck to two colors, red and black. I think that the contrast and

the use of black as a background adds a lot of personality to the page and makes it interesting to look at and to read. I think that having the words not center aligned also

makes it interesting to read and look at as well.

BrochureDescription:

A brochure for a boutique and spa.

Date:December 5th, 2015

Course/Instructor:COMM 130 Section 1; Brother Kerr

Programs/Tools:Adobe Indesign

Objective:To create a brochure for a boutique and med spa advertising the business and their

services..

Process: I first started sketching and decided I wanted something simple. I used Indesign to

create it. I first worked on the front and decided what I wanted that to look like. I then decided on what categories I wanted to include in the print. Finally I went through and

broke up my content and spread it out about the page.

LetterheadDescription:

This is a business card and stationary that was designed for a honey distribution business.

Date: November 8th, 2015

Course/Instructor:COMM 130 Section 1; Brother Kerr

Programs/Tools:Adobe Illustrator

Objective:To create letterhead for a company.

Process: I used Adobe Illustrator to design this. I first started sketching out different designs before I

really got into this program. I then started by creating the honeycomb image and decided how I wanted that to look like. I went into Illustrator and started by creating the honeycomb image and decided what thickness I wanted the border to be and what color. I then created a larger

version of the honeycomb and then made that into something that looks like a watermark for the background. I turned that opacity down to 6%. Then I created the name and chose a thick font to go underneath that to match the thickness of the border. I created the honey dropper and put

that underneath the company name to make it all blend together. Lastly, I added the informa-tion on the top righthand corner.

Logo DesignDescription:

A logo that has been designed for a boutique and spa to be effective in getting people interested in the store.

Date:October 30th, 2015

Course/Instructor:COMM 130 Section 1; Brother Kerr

Programs/Tools:Adobe Illustrator

Objective:To create a logo for a fictional company.

Process: For this project I used only Illustrator to design the logos. First, I went through and

sketched out some different design ideas to try and figure out what works best for the audience and message that I wanted to work with. Next I went onto the program and started to work creating the three different designs. I went on and did the original de-sign with the flower and wanted to stick with that. I also went on the internet to find

different fonts to download that worked with the feel that I was going for. I then worked with the colors of each design; I wanted to use three totally different color schemes to

help find what really stood out in the end to others. I wanted to use repetition so I used the ellipse throughout the whole design on each different logo. Lastly I asked around for others opinions on which logo they found the most appealing and found my win-ning logo. I cleaned them up, made sure everything looked even and the fonts were the right size and I put them into different color schemes. That is how my final design

came about.

FlyerDescription:

This is a flyer that is for a leadership conference and is in black and white.

Date:October 4th, 2015

Course/Instructor:COMM 130 Section 1; Brother Kerr

Programs/Tools:Adobe InDesign

Objective:To create a flyer for a leadership conference.

Process:The first thing that I did was that I created several different sketches of different ideas that I had for the design. After I created some sketches I used one of the sketches as a guide and created a design on InDesign. I have repetition with the black rectangles that I used by the title. I also aligned the writing and the black box with writing in it to the picture that I used. I wanted the title to stand out the most so I made that promi-nent across the top. I wanted to word “Leadership” to be the emphasis because that is what I feel the focus should be on the flyer. I created a clockwise flow with the title

leading down to the body of the flyer and around again to the picture. I wanted to keep this design light and so I used a lot of white space and used contrast sparingly with the

black on the page.

Web PageDescription:

This is a webpage that was designed around the logo for a boutique and spa.

Date:November 21st, 2015

Course/Instructor:COMM 130 Section 1; Brother Kerr

Programs/Tools:TextWrangler

Objective:To create a webpage for a company.

Process: This was a more difficult process. First I had to choose my logo and create that in

Photoshop. Then I had to use TextWrangler to go through and change things to create this webpage. I started off by putting the logo in and centering it. I then took that color

scheme and incorporated the gray and pink into the design and inserted the information into the webpage.

PhotodesignDescription:

This is an image where photoshop was used to design it and edit the photo and it has typography being used with the quote on the image.

Date:October 17th, 2015

Course/Instructor:COMM 130 Section 1; Brother Kerr

Programs/Tools:Adobe Photoshop

Objective:To take a picture and edit it in Adobe Photoshop.

Process: The program that I used for this project was photoshop and only photoshop. It was a little different from any other program that I have used before but it was really great getting a chance to use it and learn more. I chose the colors teal and orange before this project because it is fall and I feel that those colors are great fall colors and com-pliment each other well. I made the image more vibrance by using tools like vibrance, saturation, and levels. I also chose to use a couple of different fonts in the image with contrasting typefaces. I wanted to include some of the colors that I had chose in that

as well so I decided to make the text those same colors.
